Mad thing happened to day in work. Took a call from a guy looking for an A-Class today, I couldn't find the one he wanted and all the cars I could see cost more. Realising what had happened someone had bought the car yesterday I apologized it was still advertised. Anyway he flipped out saying you are a liar, everyone is doing this and I'm calling ofcom! He then slammed the phone down. Basically accusing us of falsely advertising cars to attract customers.

I went to check what happened and why we still had an advert up and the reason was the customer who remotely bought it, wanted to see the car again and take a screen grab. The easiest way was to just put the advert up again. Which is when he called.

So he then called randomly a second time absolutely flipping. I tried to enter the conversation but he wouldn't let me get a word in edgeways. Before again repeating he was calling ofcom. Slamming a second time.

1) we are in lockdown and can only sell cars remotely or via click and collect so falsely advertising cars would be stupid af.
2) I told him it was sold
3) I was pleasent and tried to help
4) he was aggressive and condescending

I don't understand people most of the time. I've worked on phones most of my adult life and this is happening more and more often. It's like the chaos of social media is started to drip into everyday life.

@themcnoisy My mum worked in a call centre when I was younger and honestly, people have been like this since time immemorial. There’s a strange sense of entitlement from these sorts of customers. She now works in retail (narrowly avoiding redundancy recently) and that’s a new set of utterly dreadful customers. From weird old men who brush up against her to women with kids called Quentin or Constance who run around and break stuff and then the parent blames the shop, people are just mad.

Mate, it sounds like you handled it like a champ so well done. Keep a cool head and remaining professional is key. But worth noting if they start screaming, swearing or hurling offensive remarks, you're well within your rights to tell them you're ending the call and putting the phone down. If they can't hear you say it as they're howling their lungs out, that's on them.

I know what you mean though about feeling like social media seems to have contributed to this sort of behaviour being more prevalent.

@Kidfried
It is disappointing to see, just look at the recent article of Sony pledging to help black communities. Childish bickering all through the comments.

I like Eurogamer's comment system, where idiotic & toxic comments get down voted and buried. Meaning as a result most people won't end up reading those and the more interesting conversations shine through.

@LieutenantFatman I’m not sure what PushSquare’s downvote system is really doing, but it seems like it only works in the background to help them trigger comments for moderation, I think.

@Jimmy_VNC82 Well said, there's nothing worse than seeing someone twist a political message to suit their own agenda.

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

Generally I'm all for a well formed opinion piece, but I wouldn't trust anything coming out of Rudy Giuliani, he has clearly lost his credit over the years.

Ahh yes, the New York Post, clearly a reliable source. Might as well rely on The Sun or the Daily Mail for a well-informed article.

@Arugula It’s owned by Murdoch and rivals the National Enquirer in integrity. From insane racist articles and cartoons to the point that Public Enemy specifically targeted it in a song to spouting nonsense about election fraud recently. They used pictures of 9/11 in a hit piece against Ilhan Omar despite her being Somali-American, not Saudi-American. They’re the ones behind the Hunter Biden ‘story’ that Ted Cruz perpetuates. This is the paper behind the defamation of Richard Jewell where they perpetuated the idea that he was the Olympic Park bomber when it in fact wasn’t him and he helped save lives by escorting people out of the building when he discovered the bomb. It’s an absolute rag.

It’s also worth mentioning that the user who linked the New York Post article is the same person who inexplicably turns up every once in a while in the Covid thread to spout anti-mask, anti-vax, anti-lockdown drivel and deride action against climate change. It’s like he’s playing up to stereotypes.

Wow. First time I’m seeing some non leftist opinions on this forum from people other than me. Cool.

Let’s not entertain the utter nonsense that was posted on the previous page (now deleted).

I just think we should keep politics to a relatively uncommon topic of discussion here. I feel like every time I open this forum it’s all political. Especially racism and BLM related topics cause whether you agree or disagree with the movement, it just ends in everyone getting angry with each other. I would much rather talk about something we can disagree with respectfully than get toxic over others political leanings. I disagree with most of y’all almost all the time but I like to think I stay pretty chill about it all. What you think about politics isn’t gonna make me hate you or something, I’m not that petty 😂

If I ever do say something that comes off as rude, it’s nothing personal. Definitely don’t mean to anger anyone lol.

@Jimmer-jammer How are you my friend? What's new? I take it you haven't put your phone down for the weekend?

Just like to say I was taking the p*ss with my earlier comment. Now that the other person's comment has been deleted it kind of looks like I was agreeing with a nutcase. That'll teach me to be sarcastic

@Gremio108 It's sometimes hard to tell sarcasm in written form. At least now you only look like a nut case agreeing with a nut case that is not there any more.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

@Thrillho Hey dude, will you be watching the fourth test? Think we can claw our way back?

@TheBrandedSwordsman I’ll watch what I can seeing as it’s back to 4am starts.

I don’t think we’ll win as it’s at the same ground as before so spin will probably dominate again. We’ve got Leach and Bess, who the selectors don’t seem to trust, and Moeen’s gone home. And our batsmen seem oblivious to playing spin.

I didn’t realise quite how much cricket England are playing this year though!
