Ok, I’m going to call voting to a close there. Our schedule for the near future should then be:
Hollow Knight starting this week for the foreseeable future.
DOOM as per our original schedule is up next.
Either The Witness, Hellblade or Shadow of the Colossus as they all received 4 votes.
Resident Evil 2 Remake in time for Halloween.
We’ll then follow up on the remaining games that received 4 votes and then start voting procedures on a Best of PS4 game that we can all play together as a swan song before the PS5 launches!
Everybody playing Hollow Knight, start downloading and it’s also available on PS Now for anybody wondering. If you own it on another system, that doesn’t matter either. I somehow own it on 3 different consoles yet never finished it 😅
@Th3solution Sounds like I have to make Inside and What Remains of Edith Finch priorities then! I'd say the same for Hellblade, but I'll hold out hope that eventually we might get to that with Game Club. You've certainly elevated my interest with all of them, though. I'm afraid they'll have to wait a bit until I'm tired enough of Crusader Kings III tomorrow to go back to another game, but I'll definitely try to get to them soon. I'll keep you updated!
Played the first hour of Hollow Knight. Forgot how atmospheric it was, it really is quite incredible. Also forgot how annoying the jumping was at times, you really start to fall as soon as you let go!
@nessisonett ha took me a little while to click with the jumping as well! The art style for this game is brilliant. Have managed to find conifer and buy the map, buy the quill and charm to find where you are on the map. Have fought the failed knight and got my ass kicked first go, will try again tomorrow really takes me back to my first experience of old yharnham, where everything you do is a little discovery.
Finished the Crossroads for now and headed to Greenpath. On that note, I think we should be aiming for the end of Greenpath as our target for this week. If you get a bit further or behind, that’s OK too!
@nessisonett Good start. The thing with the game though is that it’s sort of set up with one path seeing as you need the abilities to progress but you are free to explore however you want. A bit of a tricky game to have set checkpoints for really.
As well as the jumping, the other thing it took me a while to get used to was the slight step back with each attack. Once I’d got the hang of it all, I thought it felt great to play though.
@Thrillho Yeah, it’s my second playthrough so it does somewhat take away from the charm if I let on where you go but it’s mostly linear to start with. Might be better just to see how people get on.
I have not played this, but i am balls deep into Metro Exodus at the mo and I'm trying not play multiple games at the same time as much as I used to. If I finish ME over the weekend I may jump on this, as would be they type of game to play after something like ME.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@nessisonett Cheers for the tag. I only got home yesterday but shall join in this month. I've never played Hollow Knight before, but it's pretty long for a Metroidvania isn't it? What would be a good point to reach over the next week?
@mookysam See, this is a hard one because part of the fun is the exploration but the first section is fairly linear. I’ll say the end of Greenpath for this week as it opens up enough of the map to tackle next week. Glad you’re joining in though and for anyone else thinking about it, Hollow Knight’s on PS Now!
