Stellar Blade

Saw some back in stock and it's seemingly never going down in price anytime soon so... £60 it is. Whilst I am fully enthralled by BG III at the moment Stellar'll be a nice palette cleanser whenever I finish BG III sometime next year

@HallowMoonshadow Black Friday is in one week 😭😂

But I'm not one to judge, my buying finger is already itching for some non game related stuff that will no doubt be cheaper in a week, too.

Ehh well there was only 3 copies left @Ravix and I doubt they'd last the week so I don't really mind. Sony published titles seem to be holding their price anyway so I doubt it'd be much of a price drop if they're even still there

So just found a copy of Star Wars: Outlaws for £25.99. The deal was so good that I’m actually questioning whether I’ve been had tbh… but I had to go for it at that price and will find out if it’s legit in around a week.

Nice deal, do tell me what you think when you get round to it as it is on my to-buy list.
Speaking of cracking deals. I bought RE4 gold at Game Collection for £23, it is the PS4 version but it has a free upgrade and came with just over £10 points so just under £13 effectively....Billy Bargain.
Gonna play it in VR, this time with trophies (RE Village “doesn’t do” trophies in VR mode).
PS. Finished Kingdom come deliverance and managed to get all trophies which was quite the ordeal.

@CaptD ooh nice dude, that is a good deal. So where as RE8 was first-person anyway, I can see how easily that translates to VR… with RE4 I imagine in VR it just makes it first-person rather than the third-person view in pancake?

So on top of the congrats for getting the KC: D play, how did you find it?

@colonelkilgore
Both games are in first person when played in VR, however with RE4 it snaps to third person for certain things (roundhouse kicks, opening doors I think and cutscenes). I haven’t started the game yet but apparently it is a little jarring but you get used, the Quest version (based on original RE4) is the same.
As for KCD, really great although having to do two play throughs was a bit annoying and something that, imo, RPG’s shouldn’t do. The most annoying trophy, for not killing goes against everything the game was made for but thankfully I did that in the second mostly speed run play through.
Plus my first play through had a common game breaking bug right near the end but I had planned a second play through so that wasn’t as bad as it could have been .... I would have been angry otherwise. 😂

CaptD

graymamba

@CaptD ahh, well at least the bug didn’t affect you too much. Funnily enough (since you mentioned not killing anyone) I’m just about to start Deus Ex: Human Revolution which has what is supposedly a very temperamental no kills-no alarms trophy… so I have my fingers firmly crossed for that. Glad KC: D turned out good.

@colonelkilgore
Good luck, no kills makes a lot more sense in stealth games such as Deus ex unlike in KCD.
I don’t mind the no kills/alarms as long as you can track it and I remember one game, perhaps Deus ex mankind divided where you didn’t know you were successful (with alarms) until it pinged.
Plus I think dishonoured 1 was similar, knocked out NPCs would sometimes drown or be eaten by rats so you had to be very careful where you left unconscious peeps. I can’t remember whether you could track that one, I’m thinking not for the first game.

@CaptD even though it is an absolute monster for trophy hunters, I'd argue that not killing people in KCD makes a lot of sense, more than in most games.

You're just a normal lad who likes to drink and mess about, and suddenly you are surrounded by war. Not everyone instantly becomes a bloodthirsty killing machine in those situations, or even capable of taking a life, as taking a life is no small matter.

Which is probably why the trophy exists, because it is a game based on history and history is full of people that refuse to kill even when the sh** hits the fan and everyone else around them is either all to happy with the killing, or pushed to a point where it is their only option even if it completely goes against their will.

Canon Henry is probably somewhere on the scale of he will kill in battle, but only as a consequence of the fighting, kill to defend himself or those he cares about as a last resort, and maybe the odd bit of inescapable primal rage driven by revenge when it comes to certain bald people 😁 even if there's an option to kill pretty much everyone in the game, or to avoid killing altogether.

It's cool that it's an option to avoid it for a Medieval life sim though, especially one drenched in people's religious beliefs, personal morals, and honor codes in relation to combat.

Well done, all the same. And welcome to the KCD club 😁

@CaptD yeah Mankind Divided was that way and Human Revolution is even worse. It over-writes your manual save, so you can’t simply reload your previous save if youre worried a kill/alarm has occurred. I’m already concerned… but primed to explode in around a week 😅

@Ravix
Thanks and thanks for your insight, yes I’m sure you are correct but it is just that I’m placed in battle and I have to take the cowardly custard approach. One of the final battles, I followed a tip I found for this one, had me run past everyone and hide in small room for half an hour.
Great game though, I really enjoyed the writing and most of the quests. Can’t wait for the sequel although I will probably wait for the “royal” edition, we shall have to wait for a possible roadmap to be revealed.

CaptD

Ravix

@CaptD the way you describe it actually makes me wish I'd tried a playthrough without killing, tbh. Running away and hiding in a room while two armies clash sounds like the more realistic option for surviving in 1403 Bohemia.

Alas, I'm not a trophy hunter so it was never really on my radar, other than having heard it was a thing some people did.

The same goes for the celibate trophy. You can choose to follow that, just as many people did in real life terms, but you also miss out on one of the best quests if you do want to go for that trophy in the game. Almost like a cruel joke that mirrors the reality of maybe missing out on some harmless fun if your beliefs are such.

When it seems you're out of luck.

@Ravix
It was only the very last battle, all the others I just stood at the back which is probably what most people in that era might have wanted to do. 😳
My second play through was hardcore with all negative perks and none of them really were that negative except for the half XP one which did make grinding a little tiresome but honestly not THAT bad. Unfortunately I did have to train my sword fighting skills on the local livestock, I can hear the locals now “someone has killed our pigs again, that is everyday for the last month”.

Anyway that is derailing the thread enough for the day but I do recommend everyone gives the game a chance if they are interested in the sequel as I’m sure there will be a continuation of various characters and stories....however the lack of handholding and actual helpful (and true) tips can make the first few hours a chore but don’t give up as the writing is top notch and certainly better than most games atm.

Just had a few great Black Friday deals on Amazon and the PSN store:

The Last of Us Part 1 - it’s been holding its price for aaagggeeesss but had it for £30. I now have the ps5 versions of Part 1 and Part 2, so am fully prepared for full replays of both if/when Part 3 gets released 🤞.
Alan Wake 2 - the physical only came out a couple of weeks back but had it for £35.
Skautfold: Usurper & Skautfold: Shrouded in Sanity - found out about this series a couple of months back and have been waiting on a sale since.

Edit. and just ordered a new Midnight Dual Sense controller too. I’ve been struggling through with both my release Dual Senses (one has severe stick-drift, the other a wonky R2) but it’s about time I got a new one.

Got a new black Dual Sense. Had a gift card balance, so worked out to about 20 quid.
