Ok this just went on a big 72% off sale...those of you that have played it is it worth buying? I know WRC 10 is coming in September but sometimes waiting for the next version means you actually miss out on something that was really good.
I've read a few reviews and they're pretty positive so I'm seriously tempted. Interested to read what folks on here have to say though.

I noticed the deep sale price also and have considered taking a chance on the game. I’m not a racing guy, per se, but I like a decent racing game every now and then. I had also read some pretty positive reviews for it. Some people prefer Dirt 5 and some prefer WRC 9, but both are highly regarded. I think WRC9 is supposed to have some of the best DualSense features of the early PS5 games with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

@Th3solution Yeah it's been years since I played a Rally game but I remember it was a lot of fun and challenging with the different road surfaces, you really had to learn and adapt your driving style to be good at it. Quite different to F1 which I've also enjoyed in the past but with WRC I get to race on a track in my own country for a change

@DarthKiwi @velio84 Either of you played any of the other WRC games? I noticed in the sale that pretty much all of WRC 5-9 are all on sale and in fact there is a package where you get WRC 5,6, and 7 all for like $10. Add on 8 for another $10 and then. 9 for $15 and you have five WRC games for like around $35. Which is a lot of rally racing! 😄 I’m not sure there’s any point in playing the older games but I was wondering why they may have done things this way.

Also, velio — the special edition is around $18, so for an extra $3 and it looks like you get an extra car, an extra track, and a some kind of career boost. Do you figure it’s worth it? Doesn’t sound like much but then it’s only $3 so I don’t know.

@DarthKiwi for the price it's at right now, I say go for it. The haptics are absolutely brilliant and add a lot to the immersion, but it is a very unforgiving game. If you've played Dirt Rally or its sequel (not the more arcade ones like Dirt 5) you'll know what to expect; I'd say WRC9 has a more varied campaign (team management, training and historic car races etc) but I prefer the handling model of Dirt as it is marginally less floaty

So I went ahead and bought it
I'm really enjoying it but more so since I switched to the very front camera view, the view from behind the car just wasn't working for me. Made my steering look as though I'd put away a dozen pints lol.
Of course it would be even better if I got a steering wheel but that opens up a whole other can of options and opinions and costs...

@DarthKiwi good to hear. Was talking with @AFCC about the game. Maybe he/she can give you some tips on steering

AFCC

@DarthKiwi @Th3solution hey I'm a guy! There is an option that you can turn on to make assisted turns and not drift too much, a life changer to me! But maybe Kiwi is more experienced than me at racing games

@AFCC I'm definitely not that experienced in racing games so I will give that tip on the assisted turns a shot, thank you
