I don’t know why, other than I’ve been meaning to play it and I was in the mood for something chill after white-knuckling the Sir Alonne and Fume Knight fights in Dark Souls. I had spent all my mental concentration abilities on those fights and so just randomly clicked on DUTM.
It’s alright. Nothing spectacular yet. Definitely slightly ‘budget’ feeling, and yet it looks great from time to time. I’m only an hour or so into it; just got to the moon, so maybe it picks up. I will say, zero gravity controls stink. I really dislike underwater parts in games due to the floaty impreciseness, and the outer space floaty controls are oh so much worse.

@Th3solution I started this the other night as well.
Got to the space station and turned on life support and called it a night there but I'll be playing more soon.
Since the Pro's been released, I've been switching around, but ultimately, I found my way back to Lords of the Fallen. I got it when it first came out last year, but fell off, since it wasn't fully cooked. Now, coming back a year later, it's really hitting the spot! I don't know what it is, but I'm such a huge mark for creepy religious fanaticism and iconography in fiction, but particularly in games. The changes that Hexworks has made over the year have really taken the game to the next level. It's less like From Software games and more like Team Ninja games, at least in terms of movement and the all-nebulous "game feel," but I think it stands tall among the ever-expanding Souls-like subgenre.
@wildcat_kickz I'm a bit gutted, actually because I bought the game (fortunately quite cheap) having read about the massive improvements the dev team have made (including an impressive Pro mode) only to discover that the game has a huge, intrusive HUD - something that I cannot stand. Maybe they'll patch in a dynamic HUD mode in a future update?
@LN78 Interesting. I haven't found the HUD distracting at all. It seems pretty in line with other Souls-likes, at least to me. The only extra thing I've noticed is the Dread meter, which I think is only visible when you're in Umbral. Do you normally turn the HUD off in From Soft games?
@wildcat_kickz I do. The best solution is in games like "Horizon" where the HUD elements can be toggled with a swipe of the touch pad. I know that a lot of people with OLED displays are concerned about screen damage too, so that's another reason to (at least) have an option to switch HUD's on and off. I just don't like them!
It’s my day off so I’ve been putting more hours into Dragon Age Veilguard. I’m wrapping up all of companion quests and factions and then will be finishing up the story. I really don’t want the game to end. I might start a second play through — I have a desire to play a dwarf; a class I never choose in any RPGs. I tend to go to an Elf and rogue of some kind.
Anyone try the game Drova? I'm leaning towards picking it up. I might wait for a sale but$25 is not bad in its own right. I don't mind pixel art if the story is done right and a good rpg. From what I have read so far it sounds good. Just wondering if anyone tried it yet?
I think, in retrospect, 20 End is enough in Elden Ring, as I could already fast-roll in med-light armor at 19. So now I am finishing off my build by putting all my points into Str, 24 more levels to go to reach 80 Str and be truly op and unstoppable!
Edit: After doing a bit of research I've discovered that 60 Str should be enough, so just one more level to go now!
I decided to finally check the next-gen update to The Witcher 3. I wanted to just play for a few hours to get the feel of the game but it was inevitable... I immediatelly got sucked in again and it will be very hard to stop playing and I have so many games waiting for their turn
@Jimmer-jammer I finally completed my build today and bested Margit, the Fell Omen, this evening. I guess that despite his boasting, he wasn't the one to extinguish my tarnished's flame of ambition 🤣😉 .It's like @JohnnyShoulder said, he didn't pose too much of a threat to my op character, and I am thoroughly appreciative of my hard work farming paying off. Now just have to get my Greatsword up to +18 when I reach the Mountaintops of the Giants later, and Jellyfish Ashes up to +5 later for the endgame bosses, who I am sure are gonna pack a heftier punch.
@JohnnyShoulder You're probably right - I'll have to go with another option. I'll reflect. I have a Lhutel the Headless Spirit Ash in stock - just have to level Mind if I'm gonna use it. Might have to respec further down the line or something.
Defeated Godrick and Radahn this morning - next onto obtaining the Mimic Tear Ashes and doing some more farming to level up Mind when I play again.
@Jimmer-jammer I did think that Stormveil Castle was actually quite reminiscent of the Gates of Boletaria level from Demon's Souls, rather than resembling a level out of Dark Souls.
Edit: Just learned the required stats for Mimic Tear, looks like I won't have to level up after all! No more farming!
Edit II: Got the Mimic Tear Ashes this afternoon, and I have to say that "going underground" was quite the experience!
@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN Nicely done! Think you’ll really appreciate the helping hand that the mimic tear provides. As for Stormveil, I certainly wouldn’t argue with that assessment. I was speaking in the broader ‘Souls’ sense in that i felt the influence and atmosphere of Boletaria to Sen’s Fortress to Lost Bastille to Lothric…But as a direct comparison, even homage, I’d definitely agree with you. Where will your adventure take you next?
