@JohnnyShoulder oh yeah, he's a piece of pi$$ š it's funny reading all of the other experiences of bosses, especially as nearly any boss that people found challenging I beat in one attempt, or in the case of Malenia, two goes š (definitely not because of any inherent skill, mind)
I think I must have accidentally created the most cheesy boss-melting build without realising just how much it was trivialising some elements of the game. And it all revolved around a great sword, a ridiculously powerful 'opening gambit' magic dagger, and a seal for regular magic. No game is locking me into one playstyle if it lets me be a warrior, rogue and sorcerer all in one go with no downsides š
I mean, I still spent 200 hours by the end, with a lot of dying, a lot of exploration and a lot of helping others to get my money's worth out of all the boss fights via replaying them, but most of the real challenges were the random enemies rather than the major ones you always hear about people's struggles with
Fire Giant, was maybe more situational as my good pottery based buddy Alexander just aggroed him while I missed a bunch of ranged attacks trying to work out what to do, realised nothing was connecting, then went to work on the ankles and moved behind rock or tree cover during the bigger attacks that could flatten or burn you. I didn't really know what I was doing half the fight, and by the time I'd figured out a plan beyond just hacking his ankles he was already in the second phase and it was easy to finish the fight with a few pokes to the eye as Alexander took care of everything else because he is simply a legend who knows no equal (well, at that point, anyway š¬)
Field Bosses like the big golden lightning horsey *****, I assume brother of the first sentry, however, they literally melted in about 40 seconds because of build insanity and little to no skill š
Mohg, Malenia, Moon Gurrl, Golden Balls, Slippery Snake, Godskinheads, the Lion King, all those were just complete melts and should be ashamed at their lack of challenge šš
@Ravix maybe Iām just drunk but I donāt understand the question tbh š«
edit. ahh okay I think I get you, the amount of attempts I had at Maleniaā¦ š¤ probably around 30 maybe. She kicked my ass more than any other female š
@JohnnyShoulder Part of what I love about ER, everyone seems to have different boss 'sticking points'...
I remember approaching Malenia, being incredibly fearful due to the divisive online discourse... but had her down in maybe 3-4 goes. Fire Giant however, and Elden Beast also, had me stuck for days!
@CJD87 Yeah Elden Beast I struggled with and had to respec to get me some more holy damage and spells. Malenia I didn't find too bad, a dozen or so tries. Once I found out that she was weak to Rivers of Blood's special, she was soon gone. Loved the fight, probably one of my faves in the game.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
I got Maliketh down after a few attempts this morning. It was practically solo-melee as my summon died early during the 2nd phase. I really don't find FromSoft games as challenging as I did before after my time with Rise of the Ronin. I really do think it is a case of transferable skills. Rise of the Ronin is the game that made me 'git gud' at FromSoft games.
@Ravix@LN78@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN I don't recall struggling too much with that one either. I seem to remember having some kind of poison weapon which came in handy.

Iāve fallen hard for Metaphor: ReFantazio. Tried the demo on a whim, then bought it and havenāt been able to put it down. Iāve never played a Persona game or anything so itās been a new endeavour for me.

So my copy of SB arrived the other day and I finally popped it in a few days ago to give it a little try before returning to Baldur's Gate III.
It looks fantastic even on a standard PS5 and playing on the Balanced mode with no VRR I haven't really noticed any frame drops myself (Though I will say I only notice when frames get really low).
And the music. Good GRIEF the music. It is SO flipping good.
Here's two very early tracks
The English dub however is... Certainly a choice. I know this is Shift Up's first proper game but the ENG voice acting in their Gatcha game Nikke: Goddess Of Victory has been pretty solid -anime as hell but solid- from what I've seen/heard so I don't know how they fumbled the ball so hard here especially with the Sony help on the funding.
The combat is pretty good too. Parrying seems a big part of your defensive toolset which I'm not very good at but it still plays rather nice regardless.
Looking forward to playing more after I'm done with BGIII sometime next year!
There is a dedicated thread to go into more detail in which I'm sure is spoiler free (or spoiler tagged at the least) so you won't get spoiled.
If you end up liking it by the time you're done then you'll certainly have a lot more Atlus games to catch up on with Persona 3~5, SMT 3 and SMT V Vengeance and all sorts!
Iām not really playing anything on the PS5 at the moment. I decided to jump on my Xbox when Stalker 2 came out and then got preoccupied with some other Game Pass games. I also gifted my best friendāwho only owns an XboxāSpace Marine 2 because I was in a cooperative mood, and he doesnāt buy games really at all, so we are going to be diving into that over Thanksgiving break.
@HallowMoonshadow Thanks! The fantasy setting really appeals to me. Been a bit of a learning curve but being able to rewind a battle at any point makes that curve pretty manageable. The biggest turning point for me came when I learned that I can leave a dungeon and return at the cost of a day. Iāll check out the corresponding thread!

Went back to Demonās Souls. Binned it a couple years back after just getting a bit stuck so Iāve started again. Playing a Temple Knight with laughably high equipment load which is working better than the normal fast roll giant sword builds I go for in Souls games. Quite like the Halberd but will need an upgrade soon as Iām not convinced I can kill Tower Knight with it. Cleared out 4-1 of goodies too as itās not that hard to move about in and the fence jump still works. Regenerator Ring and Adjudicatorās Shield is working nicely together.
@nessisonett Hope you it sticks with you more this time. The mission structure is a bit wierd sometimes and all over the place. Took me awhile to figure it out lol, and ended just following a game progress guide. There are some proper good sections with 3-1 probs being my fave as it felt so atmospheric. I know some people hated it though as it was quite easy to get lost. Also some of the most evil runs to bosses in the series.
@JohnnyShoulder Yeah, Iām onto 3-1 now after slaughtering Tower Knight with barely any trouble and beating Armor Spider damageless somehow. I definitely feel like thereās probably a correct order but Iāve been dipping into a few different levels just for the loot. Itās been nice having another Souls game to play, itās the only one I havenāt beaten of the main series (not counting Sekiro or Erdtree).
