@JohnnyShoulder Yeah, the fog that's hampering the draw distance is just the weather. When it clears, you'll be able to see the entire island from high vantage points. There are similar weather effects on all islands, but they're just for atmosphere, and always temporary.
Here's a shot I took standing in (almost) the exact same place from your shot, only with the sun out.

This isn't me leaping to the game's defence, by the way. It sounds like you're enjoying your time with it, which is excellent. Just wanted to assure you that one of your issues wouldn't be an issue, s'all.

@RogerRoger while we're talking about Sonic, what the hell is this abomination that is Sonic CD??

The whole Past/Future mechanic is just plain weird and having to try and hunt down the machine in the past to get the good outcome is a right faff and feels like everything old Sonic shouldn't be. I'm still not 100% sure how you actually seem to trigger the time jump either to be honest.

I'd forgotten how brutal Sonic 1 was in places too. Scrap Brain Zone in particular is just downright unfair at times, especially those flaming pipes which only trigger as you're just about to go over them. And those special stages are just as infuriating as I do remember!

@RogerRoger Ha, I was worried that you loved Sonic CD from how you worded your post before about it.

I had kind of figured out about the time travel thing but it is a pain for the reasons you give. I still don’t get why you’d travel to the future though?

The title song is also really weird and there are some quite annoying sound effects in the game (the “swish” of spikes going up and down really grates on me for some reason).

The special stages are as annoying as Sonic 1 but in very different ways. I can’t wait for the S2 and S3 ones!

Sonic Frontiers which is awesome, really enjoying it. Took the plunge after a crappy day at work and I've reached the second island already, but gone back to first one to clear it 😄

Finding the game extremely relaxing which is strange for a sonic game.

@MightyDemon82 I've only just reached the second island, but have cleared the map of the first island.

Glad you are enjoying also. Yeah, you are right, it does feel strangely relaxing at times to play. It could be the music when you are exploring, which is quite chilled.

@RogerRoger Thanks it's a fantastic game I've now done 100% of the first island bar a 1 or 2 S Ranks. Even fished until I got everything. Yes the music is definitely very chill.

@RogerRoger Ah, I missed your review as I don’t venture into that thread so much these days. I’m back on familiar territory with S2 and S3 so looking forward to them!

It does feel kind of strange that they put CD second in the timeline for the games on Origins too.

Been a while since I posted, a few health problems which resulted in a couple of nights in hospital but all good now.

Anyway it gave me 3 weeks off work and while the first week I spent in hospital the 2nd I spent recovering but last week I managed to get a good few hours on Cyberpunk, I started it well over a month ago and was fully expecting it to be near enough finished by now but life got in the way, I'm absolutely loving it, I missed it when it first came out and I'm so glad that I have now tried it, on the ps5 it's spot on, I always feel like I want to keep playing, I've even delayed my Ragnarok playthrough for it, I'm a good way into the story but the side content is really enjoyable and it keeps pulling me in because I just wanna see what it has to offer, what surprises their might be. Don't get me wrong there's a few bugs still nothing game breaking and also I still think a 3rd person mode would amplify the game and also encourage a few more to play it but it's the most fun I've had in a while.

Also been playing MW2 enjoyed the campaign and I'm enjoying the multiplayer, tried warzone 2.0 but same as Warzone it's just not for me, DMZ was fun but once you have the weapons you want there's not much reason to go back in unless they add more content to it.

Also the new season of Fortnite started and me and my little lad play it together and I've been enjoying the new update, its breathed some new fresh life into the game.

@MaulTsir Aw man, sounds like you were a pretty sick dude! Here’s hoping your health and wellness is going to be stable going forward.

High praise for Cyberpunk too. Happy that it clicked for you.

@MaulTsir Glad that everything is good now and that you are loving Cyberpunk 2077. Even though it is technically a 2021 game, it was one of my favorite games I've played this year. It's a shame it had to release in such a terrible state, but the PS5 version is really good.

@MaulTsir happy to hear that you’re over your recent health issues buddy… and good to get some further intel on how good the PS5 version of Cyberpunk 2077 is, I’ll have to make some time for it in the coming year for sure. Also, you’re in for a treat when you finally get around to starting God of War: Ragnarok… incredible game.

**** me? Nah… **** you (right in the ***)!

MaulTsir

@sorteddan @JohnnyShoulder @Th3solution @KilloWertz @colonelkilgore thanks all I'm feeling alot better 👍

Yeah I'm really enjoying the game, managed to get a few trophies to pop with out even trying and I've checked all the requirements for a plat run and I'm Still golden in that aspect. It really is a game worth playing, it's just a shame it had the problems it did, if it was released in the state its in now then it would be getting lorded and deservedly so.

On another note I am so stoked for Ragnarok but I didn't want to be half way through a game and then feel like i was rushing through Ragnarok to get back to the other game but I really can't wait, it'll be my game I play over Christmas this year.

I've just finished off the Castlevania Requiem platinum trophy and really enjoyed both Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night once again. I may pick up the Advance collection as I never played through all of them.

For now though I picked up The Last of Us Part 1 on sale and visually at least its a huge upgrade from the PS4 version, much bigger than I thought it was to be honest. It's on par with how part 2 looks with perhaps better reflections and slightly better lighting but I can't say there's much in it and dualsense implementation is subtle but nice.

Gameplay wise I'm not sure I've noticed any real difference and it's certainly not up to part 2 in this regard, though to be expected given the character and environments. I will say cutscenes have drawn me in more with the much improved facial animations and it's certainly the way to play it for your first time. For those who already have it that's a tougher sell, full price I'd say no but on sale this is still one of the very best games for PS5 and the absolutebest way to play it. It's just hard to ignore the other version that still looks good and plays pretty much identically.

Older than I care to remember but have been gaming since owning a wooden Atari 2600 and played pretty much everything inbetween.

Played 1.5h of Crisis Core FF7 Reunion.
You can definitely tell it’s an updated version of a 15yo game and it doesn’t look remotely as good as the proper FF7 Remake but it’s still pretty fun.
I never played the original and I don’t know much about its story so I’m definitely interested in seeing this through.
Playing directly on hard mode because why not.

Enjoying myself with Uncharted Legacy Of Thieves Collection.

I'm currently getting through Ragnarok after taking a 2 week break bc of a busy schedule recently.

But does anyone know how to turn off the hints? It's very excessive. Even when I am seeking out a chest, Tyr literally bugs me. It's annoying.

@LN78 @SillyBoyJudas It’s curious how Sony studios has taken this trend of excessive hint giving lately when the world otherwise has flocked toward the From Software style of actively hiding important aspects of the game from the player. Playing Dark Souls right now, sometimes I’d give my eye-tooth for some kind of clue as to what I’m supposed to do, where I’m supposed to go, how I’m supposed to get there, where to find the blasted components I need, and what the trick is to defeating some enemies. The side quest lines are so cryptic that it’s nigh impossible to know what’s going on and how to complete them without a guide. (I’m currently on the midst of dealing with the murder of a minor but key NPC by another NPC at Firelink Shrine, if you know what I’m talking about. I went there for refuge and lo-and-behold I’m met with that surprise and there’s absolutely no clues given as to what happened and how to rectify it if you don’t look it up online.)

Don’t get me wrong, I think there’s some definite fun to be had with the discovery of all the countless little hidden paths, stories, tricks, and solutions, even if it involves sleuthing it out online. I’m loving the game. But jeepers, sometimes I think the developers were cackling sadistically while they were designing this stuff. There are many points in game where it’s clear they are trying to trick you. (Can you tell I just finished Blighttown? 😅)

I haven’t played GoW Ragnarok nor HFW yet, but it might be a breath of fresh air after Dark Souls 😄

@MaulTsir Sorry to hear about your recent health problems but I’m glad Night City is there to help you out

If you’re going for the platinum I’d just warn you about two trophies in particular.

One is story related so I won’t say much without knowing how far in you are but it comes quite late on and is the only truly missable trophy. I missed it on my first run so had to replay the whole thing (I didn’t mind too much to be fair!).

Secondly, the one for maxing a skill is tricky. You’ve probably noticed that you only level up skill by using them so you have to make sure to use that skill exclusively but also level it up when it hits the max current level. I went for quick hacking as you could use it loads in combat but also hack any and every vending mission too.

If you stop seeing messages about gaining XP for that stat, you probably need to level it up.
