I figured with a lot of people going to play this I might as well make it a topic so... Stop right there criminal scum! Don't think about making a stealth archer for the umpteenth time!
Tell everyone about your experience (Both new and old) with Oblivion's shiny new lick of paint bringing this gem back to the forefront of everyone's mind!
Like I said in the PS5 games you purchased thead I pretty much beelined it to the Shivering Isles to see how that looked in particular with the pretty new graphics.
I did stop off in Skingrad first though to see my favourite wood elf Galarthir. Giver of the "Paranoid" side quest. I'm very glad they kept his original voice.
I have experienced some of the new voice acting though. A beggar lady, a couple of guards and in particular Cutter in Crucible (The madness ore blacksmith of the Shivering isles).
She didn't sound quite as deranged as I recall her being, but it was just meeting her for the first time and shortly after I called it for the night. The others seemed fine though.
Gonna actually restart the game this evening with actual thought put into my build, star sign and such. Might actually make a Redguard (Which I've never done in a Elder Scrolls game before).
Also is it just me or does the remake run rather well? The fidelity option in particular seems to run much smoother then I was expecting (I'm no super sensitive framerate counter so I wouldn't know but it seems much higher then 30FPS to me?)
I did encounter a bug already too with the dialogue wheel minigame thingy not showing it rotating for one turn.
But other then that things seemed to be pretty fine all things considered!
@HallowMoonshadow I'll keep half an eye on this thread. Not sure when I'm going to get it, but I'm definitely interested, and its cool to see peoples joyous reactions to a beloved classic.
And also, as KCD is a game that is heavily inspired by the original Oblivion, I believe, it is inevitable that I will try and make time to play this one day and enjoy seeing the things that they have in common.
When it seems you're out of luck.

Making her mostly a mage (Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Restoration) with Hand to Hand, Blocking and Armourer as her other Major Skills.
Gave her the Mage star sign for that 50 extra magicka boost!
Just looking at the character race models really wowed me @GirlVersusGame. But I was surprised how good the rats, Goblins and even the zombie models look too!
I'd actually gone back to see the original game a couple of days ago so the visual upgrade from this remaster really hit home~!

So Selina's base attributes gave her only 30 Intelligence & Willpower @GirlVersusGame.
The 50 point buff to Magicka from mage star sign means she has an adequate 110 points of mp right now for casting but it does take a good while to recharge.
I'm gonna focus on upping her Endurance first and foremost so she gets some beefy Hp gains, maybe get her luck up to sixty (My custom class upped her luck by 5) and then focus on Intel and Willpower.

Really enjoying this so far. I just so happen to have 9 days off, so this releasing this week was a happy coincidence. My only complaint so far is the textures loading in whenever you go outside. Not a big thing, but it really took away from the experience of stepping out into Cyrodiil for the first time.
I looked at my stats last night and I'm level 7 now too @GirlVersusGame.
Str 67
Int 35
Will 30
Agil 40
End 85
Per 30
Luck 40.
120 magicka, 209 Health, 133 fatigue.
(My skills aren't all that crazy beyond having 40 Restoration)
As for the actual game/quests... All I've actually done is the first 5 fights of the arena and explore the Aeylid ruins right outside the imperial sewer. That's it. Already nearly have 2000 gold thanks to a bunch of alchemy and all the loot I've acquired
Good to hear you're enjoying it so far @Bentleyma. Have you played Oblivion before or is this your very first time?
The texture loading/pop in every time you exit a place is a bit unfortunate... But given the whole whack the old code into unreal engine it probably could've been a whole lot worse.
@HallowMoonshadow I've played it before. It was the reason I got an Xbox 360 nearly 20 years ago now. ๐ณ
I think I managed to get all the achievements in the game. It was back when my brothers and I shared an Xbox account, so it's difficult to remember who did what.
@GirlVersusGame Did you manage to play the whole game through streaming? I find that I can have good internet and streaming is still never great.
Definitely nice to be back playing a proper Elder Scrolls game. I've been playing The Elder Scrolls Online for the last few years and while it does scratch that Elder Scrolls itch quite nicely, there's something special about a mainline entry in the series.
I tried ESO when it launched. It was day one, some monster (Werewolf?) spawned and I leaped off a mount to kill it (naturally) when I turned the corner there was a huge group of people. They flipped out saying they'd been waiting for an hour or longer for it to spawn so they could be bitten by it. Someone posted my PSN ID along with a big rant about it on a forum, I got reported then a bunch of hate PSN/mail followed. All over one Werewolf, so I never played the game again. I get it, they thought I did it on purpose but still.
Wow. That's extremely petty and incredibly sad on their part. Sorry ya had to go through that.
As for Oblivion Remastered I didn't know you could use the D-Pad for lockpicking! I've actually broke all my lockpicks so it'll take a little while to try this out but I'll be sure to!
I'm level 12 now I believe. I've got max Endurance and have started working on Willpower & Intelligence with Strength getting the leftovers.
I got myself a bloody castle for free as a home (Though the upgrades are expensive as hell!). Have made over 5000 gold now thanks to me being a complete and utter loot goblin, taking everything that isn't nailed down

@GirlVersusGame
Ha ha fury of the furries. Seriously that sounds like a grim experience especially as it was day one so who is to know what is what. People can be moronic.
I donโt have much trouble online mainly because I donโt play much online although i was tempted by ESO but it seemed too much of time sink. I did however receive a PSN message a few months back saying โThanks for the road to nowhere in Death Strandingโ which was weird as I hadnโt played DS for nearly a year and I thought roads etc.. disappeared after a short period. Anyway it make me chuckle before I promptly pressed the Block User option.
I have been playing Oblivion for 4 days now, and I am level 17 and leader of the fighters' guild. And so far, the only bad thing I have to say is the game crashes around every 4~5hrs of gameplay. But it doesn't bother me, I just save often.
The best part of the game is the graphics overhaul. I have been itching to play oblivion again on my PC. When I found out that Oblivion Remastered was released, I bought it for my PS5 Pro so I could play it in 4k, and I am so happy that I did.
P.S. I am playing without fast traveling, So I get to see all the beauty of the game.
So, I can no longer continue playing. Choosing continue from the start screen immediately crashes the game. Trying to load a save shows I donโt have save files at all. Yet game save data shown to be around 200 MB.
7/10 review score seems to be overly generous at this point
Decided to jump on Oblivion yesterday and see what's what ๐ Created my own class, did the tutorial area and then got distracted by the ruins across the water. I wanted to investigate its mysterious power as a Breton Knight Zealot, but was assualted by bandits, which meant I then had to hunt down every last one of them and make them pay dearly for their mistake. This led me deeper and deeper into the ruins, and needless to say, its now time to get back to civilisation, so I can sell all of my glowing plunder
This is the class I made, but i'm kind of wondering whether I should have taken Conjuration instead of alteration. I think that is my only potential regret. If anyone has a use or tips for making Alteration good let me know, though, as I'm not sure I really need Protect if I'm using heavy armour. Or if there's any tips for this kind of build, the best stats to level up each time etc I'd love some input, as my levels are stacked and i'm going to avoid sleeping for a while until I know i'm doing it right for my build.
Protect's quite useful even if you're going with Heavy armour @Ravix. What's wrong with a spell that makes you take even less damage?
You'll need to use everything skill wise anyway in order to get those juicy level ups. There's no downside to Conjuration being a minor skill aside from getting some free spells to start with and your skill level being higher.
You'll have to just go to a spell shop or the mages guild and find a weak Conjuration spell so you can level it up to make it actually useful.
-EDIT- The lady birth sign huh? Interesting choice!
@HallowMoonshadow I just edited in the rest of my pics and tweaked my question to you Oblivion experts so you can get a full look at my build and the direction it's heading early if you like ๐
oh no, whys it interesting?
I chose The Lady, but I didn't really know what to take. It seemed like it clicked nicely with Breton, more than pure warrior, as i'll be levelling warrior with my actions. Breton is handily already at 15 conjuration too, I suppose. It's just the other attributes are flying up as I habitually cast protect, starlight for no reason, and then cold grasp or burn enemies before healing or life draining, and of course I allow them to attack my armour a bit too, knowing I can heal easy enough. I might just be a natural at Levelling as it's like KCD on crack ๐
The Birth Signs that boost your attributes are a fine enough choice @Ravix.
With the levelling system being refined though compared to the original release they're WAY easier to level up and you probably would've benefited more from getting another boost to Magicka.
Spells can be quite costly the further you go (especially if you create your own with a bunch of different effects.)
You can enchant your gear & fortify your magicka total down the line... But an extra boost to Magicka to start with certainly wouldn't have been a bad choice.
Least it wasn't the tower or the serpent with their rather useless abilities
What would you say is best to take for each level up then? I probably have a few level ups banked as I'm planning on sticking at 2 for a little while as I get my bearings. First time I think I took 5 Strength, 5 endurance and 2 INT as INT started higher anyway.
But as they level off a bit, is there anything to fully focus on earlier/later in a build. Willpower is already boosted to 65 so that should be okay for a while, I guess.
My Breton is pretty efficient at recharging for base spells at the moment, and can spam them if needs be due to the boosted magicka. Last time I bought a wounding spell that drains health, and that is fine to be used atm with the current pool of magicka, even though it's slightly more expensive.
But my instinct would be to focus on STR, INT, WIL and then if I start to struggle, put some into END ๐คทโโ๏ธ
In the original version of game you'd wanna get your Endurance up as soon as possible @Ravix as the formula to calculate your health meant you'd be screwed over if you had low Endurance the more you levelled up.
They changed it though for Remastered so... Honestly just do whatever you like. There's no real downside from what I know?

I just completed the Arenaโs quest line, and now Iโm on the last quest for the Thieves Guild. This final mission is super cool and immersive. Iโve hardly touched the main story, and Iโm at level 20. I think Iโll be starting the Fighterโs Guild after this and exploring more caves and dungeons.
