@Ravix It's such a weird game. It is technically not great, it is very floaty and some effects and most characters just look like they have been added on top of a pretty decent looking and fucntioning game environment engine.
You just summed up my experience with Paw Patrol. I'm going to get one hundred percent today. It's taking a lot longer than I expected. Then it's onto a wine simulator game.
Tatooine is vast and kind of empty (obviously) but it is also awesome and has lots to do, and it is populated in all the right places.
Is it freeroam? I didn't look into the game at all. I stopped following the franchise just before they starting making TV shows. The original trilogy will always be the best (you know that's true) but I did like the one where the Deathstar blows up a planet and you see it from the point of view of the people
I get the same kind of simple dopamine hit as I would when clearing bases in AC games (which definitely got too big for themselves, despite making it through 3 of the big open world ones and loving them at the time.
And you summed up why I play the new Assassins Creed games especially FarCry. I know a lot of people don't like clearing bases, it's kind of a rush like you said.
Even though I like perfectionist games where everything is really well thought out and the world's function properly
Are you talking about an Ubisoft game? Paw Patrol runs better than Far Cry Primal did. It crashed more than any other game I'm ever played. Each time there was a cuts-scene crash each time I'd use fast travel crash each time I returned to the village crash but I wanted platinum so I kept pushing it until I finally saw the credits. I might put that game on the list, I'm looking for something freeroam that has a story, but a story I can avoid for a while.
These violent delights have violent ends & in their triumph die, like fire & powder Which, as they kiss, consume.
@GirlVersusGame no, definitely not Ubisoft in terms of perfectionist. I mean like Warhorse, Rockstar, Larian and CDPR who are incredibly anal about their game world design (I hope this translates well, it is Freud so it should be something that is universally understood, but you never know these days 😂) so I gravitate more to games that are designed by perfectionists, who add things for a real reason, which is why it is harder for other games to impress me in the same way. But Ubisoft, when they aren't getting too carried away kind of manage to provide comfort food gaming, popcorn gaming, where the best aspects are when they just add stuff because it is fun to do. But they get a bit lost when they try to make it mean more, as they aren't as good at that aspect of development.
Outlaws definitely taps in to some of the good stuff they do do, I loved Far Cry 6, for example, and that was just driving, running and sliding around 'cuba' listening to Ricky Martin and blowing stuff up, and sometimes clearing an entire base with stealth or mixed tactics.
So even though Outlaws is technically a bit crap, I find myself speeder-ing, running, rolling and sliding (it makes normal traversal less boring) between quests where I inevitably stealth in or shoot some lasers about the place with a little alien pet who can help out a bit.
Is it freeroam? Yes and no. There is multiple planets, each planet is like a mini sandbox(ish) and each sandbox has a city/towns that function a bit like a corridor set up game (like uncharted, sw jedi games) one planet is mostly just the corridor style city, also. The cold one. I guess it is too cold to go outside of the city walls so there is nothing there.
So it is kind of semi-freeroam...
I don't know how it would compare to Paw Patrol. But you've played open world RPG's and games like Uncharted before, yeah? It is somewhere between the two, kind of 🤷♂️
What is your game history like? I know you play some heavy simulators recently, but I feel like you have some sinilar games you've enjoyed. You mention Far Cry now. I think some Elder Scrolls you have played? Uncharted?
Would you say, as the resident Star Wars Boffin (this is high praise from this wannabe Star Wars Boffin 😄) that the devs managed to capture the spirit and atmosphere of Star Wars for you? I feel like that was one of the parts it is hard to put your finger on, but it is why it is so enjoyable to play. There is just something about the game that shows they got it. Which is why it is even more of a shame it went so badly for them, as that will be that and they won't get another chance to make more.
@Ravix Outlaws definitely taps in to some of the good stuff they do do, I loved Far Cry 6, for example, and that was just driving, running and sliding around 'cuba' listening to Ricky Martin and blowing stuff up, and sometimes clearing an entire base with stealth or mixed tactics.
That's why I played FarCry 6. I thought they stopped making games like that. My game bugged at one point I had to keep playing weekly for that one hundred percent to pop. Some general or something who only appeared in a certain weekly mission. He kept deciding not to.
I don't know how it would compare to Paw Patrol. But you've played open world RPG's and games like Uncharted before, yeah? It is somewhere between the two.
I don't either, this is truly a unique (repetitive) experience. It is kind of neat being able to summon vehicles for them, sort of like Grand Theft Auto with puppies except you can't cause any actual harm. I did manage to drive so fast that I broke through the world map, so that's something. I haven't.. played Uncharted yet but I have them all (I know) they've been on that back list for years. The movie too.
What is your game history like? I know you play some heavy simulators recently, but I feel like you have some sinilar games you've enjoyed. You mention Far Cry now. I think some Elder Scrolls you have played? Uncharted?
Good question. I brought a console with me this time so I can check. 222 games played (spooky) 9547 trophies (professional?) I see 571 games in my library, it's definitely counting Plus.
I'll see what stands out; Cyberpunk, Oblivion, Hogwart's Legacy (not finished) Ark (too addictive) Mount and Blade 2 (your kind of game, swords etc) Bloodstained Ritual of the Night (amazing) Skyrim (obviously) Outward (very hard) V Rising (outstanding) Dragon's Dogma 2 (only one playthrough, no DLC is a game breaker) Ghostwire Tokyo (a kind of unexpected gem) Persona 5 (addictive) Watch Dogs Legion was basically a tool to combat agoraphobia, London was very accurate and the game wasn't bad, The Witcher 3 (obviously) Elden Ring (obviously) Forbidden West, Far Cry (all of them, 5 being my favorite) Monster Hunter World (too addictive) I have maybe three PSN accounts though, there are games scattered around each. Sanctions killed my main account. This current one is a UK one. I re-earned/rebought everything, which was fun for a lot of openworld games but I'd rather not do it again. It's hard to find new openworld games, it seems to have been more of a PS4 thing? and now so many games focus heavily on the story. Or at least it seems that way. Maybe fifty or so games are simulators, everything from Lawnmower Simulator (rough) to Flight Simulator. I'm just missing Ravix Simulator.
These violent delights have violent ends & in their triumph die, like fire & powder Which, as they kiss, consume.
@GirlVersusGame you definitely don't want to play a Ravix simulator 😂
Am I really dumb? (don't answer that 😭 obviously) but I didn't think you had played The Witcher 3 yet. Big Woops from me. Some of the games you mention are kind of story heavy, though, although TW3 gives you a lot of real freedom despite it being that way, as do the Elder Scrolls games, I suppose. And definitely Elden Ring which just plops you there and says "well? Go on then! get on with it! And there might be some story if you look it up online" which is a more unique approach, but also really good with mlst things being inferred.
I was going to put this in what games are you currently playing, as we can now decide what games you will definitely be playing next. But i'll just post it here for now as I can't find a suitable thread for this tangent. Surely we can do better than winemaking simulator, though?
You realise Kingdom Come: Deliverance is like a mix of The Elder Scrolls, The Witcher 3, and european history, right? Why is this not on your list of games you loved. That is very dissapointing 😛 with a game list like that it is almost like it is made for you. And it heavilly leans in to simulation elements too, especially with how the world functions and how you are just a person that is part of that world and the rest is just what happens to be happening at the time in history.
Erm... Star Wars Outlaws. Yeah back to relevant chatter. Maybe Outlaws would be a good game for you to try as well. Even if i'd encourage to lean towards KCD instead as it fits with even more of the games you already like.
@Ravix but I didn't think you had played The Witcher 3 yet.
Both (PS4/PS5) at 100%, both DLCs, both on two different accounts so technically I finished the game and the DLCs four times. I have the audiobooks ready to go too. I'm just waiting for the right game, I muted Paw Patrol two zones ago and replaced it with Black Metall. I'm not listening The Witcher while playing this, it would ruin the vibe (of the Witcher)
You realise Kingdom Come: Deliverance is like a mix of The Elder Scrolls, The Witcher 3, and european history, right?
I have it but I'm a fencer (offline) it would affect how I tried to play that game. I only understand the technique of non-lethal combat. Unless it has a spear or a bow then maybe. I've tried to play games with swords before and they are worlds removed to fencing. It's like training for years with a real bow then being handed a rifle. Muscle memory might be the word. It's really hard to unlearn technique and expected response especially if those games are realistic in how they handle swordplay. It's a weird complaint, I played some kind of hand to hand medieval game last year and just the weight in the physics engine kept throwing me off, I couldn't remove the mechanics of a real life foil or sabre so I kept dying to everyone and everything.
Erm... Star Wars Outlaws. Yeah back to relevant chatter.
@GirlVersusGame I didn't know which thread to move to without mentioning Outlaws again.
Outlaws.
I thought maybe 'currently playing', as then you will be more inclined to be influenced to 'currently play' some KCD. But for now it stays here as it is easier to just hit 'reply' 😅
So you've actually played The Witcher 3 more than me? 😭😂 how did I miss this? So it is just the books/audiobooks that you need to consume next?
KCD is fencing friendly, but as an RPG you can do the whole game as a dagger from the shadows type, avoiding actual hand to hand combat if you want, or play as a huntsman type with bows, a poisoner, anything like that, you can even play as a pacifist, or wield a mace or hammer and bonk people on the head while you hide in full plate armour.
Speaking of (I bet if anyone has it would be you) perhaps you have read Talhoffer Fechtbuch? (I have not) or similar german and Italian fencing manuals? A little different to the style that schools teach now, of course, but it would probably still be super interesting as historical texts, and medieval martial arts are obviously a big inspiration for KCD.
So yeah a bit of books, bit of games. Not so much Outlaws. Sorry Star Wars. Jabba The Hutt. Bib Fortuna. Stormtroopers.
When it seems you're out of luck.

@Werehog There's nothing worse than playing multiple games at a time and the controls are ever so slightly different! One of the worst examples I can think of is when one game uses ''E'' as the interact button and another uses ''F''. I would say the controller equivalent, but it's been too long that I've touched a controller. I also feel like it happened a lot less on there, but I may be wrong on that front. I've been playing The Last of Us: Part II, which also has very interesting keybinds. Left click to reload?! I've been trained for years that means to shoot! What's wrong with the ''R'' key? You also need to use ''J'' to shake your flashlight in the few moments the game requires you to, which... the ''J'' key, really? Who has their hand anywhere near the ''J''? And what do you mean I need to use ''Y'' to enable/re-enable my silencer? What do you mean???cough Anyway, I digress. What were we talking about? Ah, yes. Memorising controls. It's an art, and I totally get how you can have trouble switching from one game to another with it.
I agree with you that having everything in one canon with a ''have your cake and eat it too'' approach can be incredibly fun, especially for heavily invested fans who will recognise every little thing as well as that one character who showed up in a short that played exclusively in theaters in front of an anniversary edition showing of the Star Wars Christmas Special that only played in Regal theaters in Maine. I joke of course, but that's the level of layers upon layers it sometimes feels like it becomes with these kinds of inter-connection multi-media ''everything is canon'' approaches. Like you've agreed, there is a case to be made for just being up to date on everything you need to know because a project starts fresh with their own interpretation. I do also understand why Disney with Star Wars, for example, would want to stick to one canon however. Just think of DC and the amount of Harley Quinns they have across all media. Everyone has their favourite. Some love the Arkham games, some think the TV Harley is the best... whether Batman: The Animated Series or her recent own starring series... some think Margot Robbie does the best job and no one thinks Lady Gaga was their favourite! Love you Gaga, but I have to concur on that one. Having your fandom be that divided can be a curse as well... and I think the Star Wars fandom deals with enough division as it is.
Haha, Disney is a king at presenting you merchandise you will freely accept its cynical nature of just because it's so cute. I honestly can't judge anyone. We all knowingly fall for these traps, whatever media it is. I don't believe in the term ''guilty pleasure'', so why should we feel guilty about enjoying it?! I know you haven't really played other Ubisoft games to compare with, but I'm not surprised the world and environments in the game are so impressive. World design has seemingly always been their games' strength. Which I suppose is good, since open worlds are ultimately their ''niche'' so to speak. I'm glad they mentioned to please the Star Wars fans all the same with this entry. It's a shame that, as far as I know, the game didn't sell very well. From everything I've read, you'd no doubt be up for a sequel! Let's hope Ubisoft can crack their hands at this universe another time in the future, whether in the same form of a different story altogether. I don't remember, but are you a fan of the Star Wars: Jedi games too?
Would you say, as the resident Star Wars Boffin (this is high praise from this wannabe Star Wars Boffin 😄) that the devs managed to capture the spirit and atmosphere of Star Wars for you? Yes, very much so (and thank you for such high praise, by the way)! I'd go so far as to argue that it blended the vibe of the Original Trilogy with its modern influences better than some of the movies and shows ever did. And yet it's clearly a product of its time, too. So many of its details and inspirations are based on the projects which were being written, filmed, or released during its dev cycle (most notably Solo, The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor) which helps make it feel cohesive without the need to bash you over the head and yell, "See? See?!" every thirty seconds.
Ubisoft's spectacular mismanagement (as highlighted by news stories this past week) makes it such a shame that we'll never get to see that planned sequel, but I look forward to the day details inevitably leak, and we're at least granted a glimpse of what might have been!
***
@Tjuz Even speaking as a casual PC gamer, left mouse to reload sounds... yuck.
Funny you should use Harley Quinn as an example of multiple interpretations, as there's only ever been one version of her that I actually like (or let's say, can tolerate)! That being said, I haven't seen Lady Gaga's take on the role yet. I know, I know, but I don't like to pass judgement on second-hand information! Look forward to the day I come back here and tag you with a simple, "You were right!"
I reckon it's only a matter of time before Star Wars starts down that path. There have been rumours of an anime adaptation of the Original Trilogy swirling for a while now, enough that they can't be a total fiction. Star Trek found a way to have its cake and eat, "remaking" the original series while also preserving its canonicity, and it looks as though we're hurtling towards a third interpretation on Paramount+ in the coming years, as well. It's easier for games like Outlaws to slot themselves into gaps with new characters and settings, and we'll see how the new slate of original movies does in the coming years, but I think corporate logic will ensure that we see a full-blown remake of the Original Trilogy someday.
For the most part, yes, I adore Respawn's Star Wars: Jedi games. I took issue with some of the creative and narrative choices made in the second one, but that's very much a "me" thing and there's no denying that it's one heck of a ride. Fallen Order by itself, though? One of my all-time favourites.
And yes, I hate the term "guilty pleasure" just as much as you do, too!
"If I let not knowing anything stop me from doing something, I'd never do everything!"
@Werehog "Can tolerate", you say?! I didn't know you were not a fan of Harley Quinn at all. I doubt Gaga will convince you otherwise by the time you get to Joker: Folie à Deux... and that's coming from someone who actually really enjoyed the movie unlike most. I thought it was a fun time and a solid follow-up, but Gaga's Harley just doesn't get enough of note to do that she makes a strong impression. I blame that more on the crew than I do on her commitment to the performance. I did really like the recent animated series with Kaley Cuoco voicing her, though. The first two seasons of that were escecially fantastic DC stuff in general.
Interesting that they're likely trying to do an anime adaptation. I can't think of any other huge Western movies that have gotten that treatment. I guess they laid the groundwork for it with the Visions show you mentioned before! God bless all the Star Wars fans when they do eventually try to do a remake of the original trilogy. Not sure if they'd dare that any time soon, especially with how volatile the situation is between the fanbase and Disney still. At least Kathleen Kennedy is out now, so I wonder if that'll turn the tide around eventually. I don't know how good of a replacement Dave Filoni is however. Like I said, I'm not really into the Star Wars universe so I can't pretend to know what's best for the fans, but he always struck me as a bit too much of a fanboy to be able to run a franchise like that. There needs to be some distance between how much of a fan you are of something vs. what you need to do in the best interests of the franchise. And besides that, I really hated the one season of The Mandalorian I suffered through!
Glad to hear you have high opinions on the Star Wars: Jedi games! They're likely my next attempt into trying something Star Wars, so I hope they'll be able to blow me away as much as they did you. The first one at least! Can I ask if you can elaborate on what the second one did to earn some of your ire in a non-spoilery way? I wonder if it's something lore-related or simply narrative choices exclusive to the game.
@Tjuz you 'sat through' the Mandalorian? Get out! Haha.
Okay, so I personally roll my eyes heavilly at all the actual manadalorian lore parts, especially when it is the basic side characters, but the rest of it gave me such warm fuzzy vibes, and then when it dials into being a proper space western it is so good. Ah, I love the space western feel so much, haha. Weirdly, one of the best episodes is hidden in the Boba Fett series for some reason 😅
Maybe I can convince you to give it another chance, though. It has a bonus Timothy Olyphant in it, so it is well worth it for that. Date night binge? 😛
As for a regular Outlaws thread update, I gave that a good session over the weekend and I feel I cleared all the side content I wanted (or could bare) and i'm pushing forward with the main plot again, I think i'm at a point where i'm locked in, but there was no warning, so maybe not quite in the final stretch yet. It is still satisfying to play in it's weird, unfathomable, Ubisoft way.
@Werehog I was not expecting a sequel as soon as people decided they hated it before they even played it, to be honest. I don't think it sold nearly enough, regardless of poor management. It is kind of sad, as if you like Star Wars, it really has enough about it to warrant a sale/playthrough. Even if it isn't perfect.
I'm not sure how well a date night binge for The Mandalorian will go between us. I watched the first season with my mother. She's a big movie/TV buff as well, so we often watched stuff together while I was still living at my parents' place. She did enjoy the show, and then consequently had to listen to me insisting on how it's bad actually! I'm not sure we'd survive such a fracture with our newly blossoming relationship, so we might want to take it easy on the controversial topics.
I can see why you'd be into it if you just really enjoy space westerns however! It does capture that vibe well. I do love sci-fi, but I honestly can't think of any other media I've consumed that fills that ''space western'' vibe. Maybe I just didn't quite gel with that, but I don't know if that was the problem since I have nothing else to compare it to. And I'm sorry to say that the inclusion of Timothy Olyphant doesn't do much for me... but if I remember correctly, Katee Sackhoff is also in there? And I do also love Amy Sedaris if she keeps reappearing in later seasons... but I won't be fooled into going back to it after I had a poor time with the first season! Least of all since I've heard how the show only got worse from there by fans.
@Tjuz when you say 'fans' do you mean 'angry internet people'? 😛 I thought it was pretty much universally loved for at least 2 seasons, apart from the usual suspects online. The finale of S2 is literally 9.8 on imdb 😅
But I won't fight you about it, it didn't do anything for you and that's okay too. I know It's something I liked at the time and still do from time to time for those warm fuzzies it gives me. It definitely has its cheesy moments that you have to eye roll through, and some shaky performances, but all of Star Wars has that.
Yes, those two are in it a fair amount. Sedaris as the ship mechanic is a good example of how they nail the charm in the series.
(If you are not fond of some Olyphant i'm guessing you only know him from his naughties movie rubbish? And have yet to see Santa Clarita Diet? I feel like that is a show you'd bloody love, btw. Maybe i'm wrong, but i'm confident in that one)
But maybe there is something good to come out of you not wanting a Mandalorian date night...
So, tell me about this mother of yours... 😏
(If this doesn't get a laugh I can only apologise. But, maybe i've been barking up the wrong tree all along 😛)
I rolled credits on Star Wars Outlaws last night, I'm not sure the actual story got much 'better' by the end, but the game certainly got more momentum. A good amount of expected cliche so I was never shocked by what was happening. It is a weird game, i'd say the story is avout a 6 or 7, the gameplay and technical aspects about a 6 or 7 too (apart from environments and wind which are a good 8) but somehow the game feels like a decent 8 overall, and I don't know why. But I enjoyed my time playing it. They got the Star Wars vibes right and I would have loved to see them improve on it and do more within the franchise as it is an incredibly detailed game made with love but maybe not enough time or budget, or maybe that could be defined as ubisoft managment meddling. A company that genuinely thought Skull & Bones was a AAAA game somehow had a dev make a AA feeling Star Wars game...
In an alternate universe maybe Massive Entertainment got more resources and free reign and maybe Skull & Bones didn't exist.
@Tjuz Forgive me, but I'll save elaborating about Harley Quinn for a future DC chat, either once I've watched the Joker sequel or when I'm playing the new LEGO Batman game. Largely because any reply about her is at real risk of becoming a much larger rant, so...!

Oh, it's very much the latter. I never really get upset about anything lore-related, unless it's very deliberate and messy in its intent to break something for no good reason. Again, I wanna avoid another rant, and don't wanna explicitly give anything away... but let's just say that, particularly in this day and age, certain kinds of narrative developments should always and forever be an optional choice left up to the player. We have the technology. There is no excuse. Sorry if that's a little too vague!
Just to confirm specifics, the awesome Katee Sackhoff is in two episodes of Mando S2 and then co-stars in every episode of S3. Amy Sedaris (who, like you, I adore) is in the first two episodes of S2 and has a small scene in S3. She also features prominently towards the end of spin-off series The Book of Boba Fett and I love the fact that we live in a world where I get to own a lil' LEGO minifig of her!

@Ravix Glad you enjoyed your time with Outlaws enough to see it through, and I hope it helped get you unstuck with regards your New Year's gaming! I completely agree with your point about how the whole experience ends up being greater than the sum of its parts. Indeed, I reckon the only component that is unquestionably fantastic all by itself is its music! But somehow it all comes together to make something that falls just the right side of special and worthwhile. Well, regardless of Ubisoft's mismanagement or what might have been, I'm still grateful we got what we got.
Here's hoping you enjoy your time with The Outer Worlds 2 as much, if not more!
"If I let not knowing anything stop me from doing something, I'd never do everything!"
@Ravix Haha, maybe the so-called angry internet people were able to come into my purview under false pretenses. I thought the dislike for the direction of the show already started with the second season, but god forbid I take their opinions as gospel. I'll listen to your word instead! But yeah, I'm guessing maybe the whole Star Wars vibe just isn't my thing. I love the more grounded, politicky, military type of sci-fi. Think stuff like Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5 or Mass Effect. The latter obviously has close ties to SW in terms of the inspiration, but equally (if not more so) to something like B5, I'd argue. Different strokes for different folks! I thought Andor was solid for the first season I watched, though not exactly top-tier sci-fi. Of the movies, I have to admit I've only seen Episode VII (which I'm sure is heresy to you)... and that was rather sub-par in my opinion.
It's not that I dislike Timothy Olyphant necessarily. I just haven't been exposed much to his work. Looking through his filmography, I've only really seen Fargo... and I don't remember him there, really. That season of the show was in general the worst of the bunch, and I only found Jesse Buckley particularly memorable. I do think I would enjoy Santa Clarita Diet, so you're right on the money there! I've considered starting it many times, but haven't yet pressed play.
I'll relay your date night invitation to my mother! I'm not sure how my father will feel about it, but we can iron out the logistics and details of it all eventually. Let's not get stuck in them for now. Does that mean that one day I'll get to call you stepdad? I think there's a certain sub-section of the internet where (hopefully fake) step-dad/step-son relationships are quite popular... if you catch my drift. 😜
Have fun with The Outer Worlds 2! I've already gone into plenty of detail with my experience, so I won't bore you with it again. I genuinely hope you'll have a better time with it!

@Werehog Oh lord, I'll reluctantly look forward to thoughts regarding Harley Quinn. I'm scared! And no worries on being vague, I did specifically ask for a non-spoilery description to your detriment. I plan to get through those two games eventually, so I'll ask you for the specifics later on if I don't already agree with you as it happens! Most importantly, you still love the games in spite of it all, so that's good enough for me. I'm so jealous of your minifigure of Amy Sedaris, though! Ah! Good things came out of The Mandalorian after all!
@Werehog thank you 😄 I think it served its purpose well. Definitely a game worthwhile for anyone with an interest in Star Wars. The break from being a Jedi, narratively, and just being free to explore and mess around in the world is plenty enough reason to stick this one through. I think it suffered as people thought it was going to be Star Wars x GTA, and no one is capable of doing that. Perhaps if they had used two studios with those that made watch dogs to lead the gameplay and mechanics, leaving Massive and Lucasfilms games in charge of the environments and details then maybe they could have got something a little like that, but I digress.
It is objectively a 7/10 game that can easily be enjoyed more than that. And that should be enough. It had a kind of PS3 spirit, maybe in part because it was a bit janky, but I liken it to Uncharted, just not as witty or charming in terms of characters, with the best characters in Outlaws being an animal and a droid.
Weirdly, someone just released a prequel novel(?) starring Jaylen (starwarsname?) from Outlaws 🤷♂️ I thought he was a bit boring and trite (not really in the game enough to warrant his importance to the plot) but ND-5 was pretty well done and it would have been nice to see what happens next for Kay, ND-5 and Nix.

Funnily enough, that was what Star Wars: 1313 was supposedly drifting towards, when it stopped being about an original protagonist and shifted to being a Boba Fett game. Perhaps nothing on the scale of what GTA games have become, but certainly a GTA3 or Vice City approach of keeping you contained to a single urban environment that got on with itself while you played. People expect more now, though, so that approach would seem... let's say, "charming" by today's standards, which is probably why Ubisoft pushed for a multi-planet design and then overpromised in the marketing.
And it's funny you should mention Uncharted as well, because I've just finished replaying A Thief's End and I reckon I know exactly what you mean by that comparison!

That's one of the good things about Star Wars. Nothing's ever really gone. If your Disney+ show or sequel game gets cancelled, there's always a novel or comic book waiting somewhere in the future, to help wrap things up. Sounds like this Jaylen Vrax prequel was always planned (as you're right, he needs fleshing out) but I wouldn't mind betting we haven't seen the last of Kay, Nix, and ND-5.
