Hey all.

So it's happened twice now. Today is one week since my PS5 arrived, I've only played Spider-Man Miles Morales and some PS4 games so far and it has been randomly turning itself off during gameplay with no warning.

Upon a restart via the power button it 'repairs' the external storage, the same external storage I was using on PS4.

It's really annoying and concerning, does anyone know if Sony are aware that this is a problem? Is it widespread? And is there a way I can report problems directly so we can get this to their attention?

Anyone know?

Software-wise the PS5 feels like it was rushed to me. It's got some annoying bugs, (several if my external HDD games had to be reinstalled because the PS5 took it upon itself to delete them) and I think the UI is awful compared to the simplicity of the PS4, especially that messy, overcrowded 'game base'.

Anyway, anybody got any info on this?
Thanks in advance.

I've had it turn off on me twice also, both while playing Miles Morales! Also had it not turn on correctly once and I've had to switch it off on the console itself and turn it back on again. In fair ness 75% of these instances were before the recent update.

I just hope they keep bringing out these "stabilty" updates weekly/fortnightly and fingers crossed at some point we'll have no more issues

It happened twice again today so it's now a total of four times. This morning I booted the console just to use Disney plus and before it had completely booted the screen had a strange purple static flash then it immediately shut off. I rebooted and it did the usual 'repair' after I submitted yet another report it did the same thing again.

I still have yet to find anything that confirms Sony gave acknowledged a problem with these consoles. I hope they do because this is unacceptable. The PS5 was not ready for launch and it feels like a beta product.
Even the PS4 on launch day wasn't this bad.

I don't agree at all that this console feels like a beta product, I get that some people will experience more problems than other and will rightly be annoyed/frustrated by that but all in all its been superb for me. Just my opinion .

@HMazzy111 @Arugula Yep nor me and I've played 30 hours or so of Demon's Souls. From the outside looking in, some people might think every console is a broken mess, but that is simply not the case.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

Like myself most people complaining about it seem to have an external hard drive attached to the system. There doesn't seem to be any specific game involved.

Odd since the PS4 was able to do this for nearly 4 years, you would have thought they learned a thing or two before the transition to PS5.

So far I am also in the bandwagon of the random shutdowns. It happened 3 times so far with external hard drive (no ac adapter included) attached to the console and when I turn on the console it shuts down itself randomly and had to unplug it for couple minutes then plug in and it reboot and rebuilds itself and the fourth time it happens with cold war in a zombie game the game froze and the console shut itself down like the previous time. the troubleshoot I receive from customer service is very complicated and I rather send it in for repair if it happens for the 5th time and I don't if the external hard drive that powers up with AC adapter would solve this problem. I rather send it in for repair or replace if this keeps up.
