Here we can come to recommend games and receive recommendations for games on the PS5. I'll kick things off, can anyone recommend games similar to Demon's Souls and Godfall? Preferably with RPG elements.

@TheBrandedSwordsman
I don't know why did you create so many different threads but only want to talk with certain users here ?
And you still keep ignoring my presence here.

What is a PS5? šŸ¤”
BTW... Is someone publishing PS5 only games? I mean, very few can play them so I fear this thread will be useful maybe in 4th quarter 2021... Maybe...

@Anti-Matter Looking at the things you love as mentioned in your signature I'm quite sure you two have few interests in common...

@andreoni79 Until the day that we get a Souls game with muscular men and a Eurobeat soundtrack, I doubt they ever will šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Has anyone tried Hunterā€™s Arena: Legends? It actually looks to be a decent take on the Battle Royal genre, but I usually am so averse to online only games, and especially BR that I donā€™t think Iā€™ll spend the time with it, but I could be convinced if thereā€™s some good feedback. But Iā€™ve heard very little chatter about it so I think thatā€™s a bad sign.

@Th3solution my friend tried it, wasn't a big fan. Think he found it a bit mediocre. Hasn't gone back to it since his first trial. So yeah not a good sign really.

@NedStarksGhost I donā€™t know much about it other than reading a quick blurb and seeing screenshots and short videos. I donā€™t think thereā€™s a PS review yet.
I guess I just like the art design. It has much less ā€œFortnite-ificationā€ aesthetically, which is one of the annoyances of a lot of the F2P and online MP games. They have this cartoonish over-the-top silliness which is fine, I guess, but plays into the microtransaction ridden world of these games whereby you have to buy skins to make your character look crazier than the next guy. Hunterā€™s Arena has a more grounded and realistic look to it, like a Dynasty Warriors or Ghost of Tsushima vibe style-wise with the ancient Asian theme.

But it sounds like the gameplay part is severely lacking so itā€™ll be a hard pass for me unless someone has some better impressions.

@Th3solution I would give that one a wide berth, it doesn't sound like a Sol type of game at all.

I know its dismissive, but I've given up on battle royal games. Not enjoyed the ones I've played so won't even bother with them anymore. See also: MMO's.

@JohnnyShoulder I agree. Although Iā€™ve never given MMOā€™s any fair shot, but the time commitment seems really large. If FFXIV wasnā€™t subscription based then Iā€™d be more tempted there since I like that setting. ESO seems good too. But again, Iā€™ve got no time for them. My single player games have me plenty booked. I just always like to keep my options open if something like this Hunter Arena drops and is really well regarded. But given early impressions, a wide berth it shall be given, indeed.

@Th3solution I'm not too bothered about the time commitment myself, but the few MMO's I've tried always become really dull and too repetitive for my liking. I did have a look at FFXIV, but the UI seemed far too busy for me. There is quite a substantial free trial however, if you did want to give it a go.

The Destiny and Division games are probably the best middle ground for me, but even then they get dropped quickly after I'm done with the campaign.

@JohnnyShoulder the first Destiny felt like it could be something really special. It's just a shame the in game lore was behind them cards, and it got repetitive very quick. I always remember loving the first raid. It was nearly the perfect middle ground.

Like @Th3solution MMOs are just too much of a time sync. I think this is why I've become so single player focused as I've gotten older. You can go at your own pace whereas with MMOs, or Battle Royales I feel you have to put time in to get more out of it.

@NedStarksGhost @JohnnyShoulder I played a little of the first Destiny and about half of the first Division campaign. They were both fine, but just lacking the narrative depth I favor. The Division 2 is supposed to be much better, but I had a few mixed emotions about the first game so Iā€™d rather focus elsewhere

@Th3solution I thought the story in both Division games was really good, more so in the first game which I played mostly co-op with a buddy.

@JechtUltima Itā€™s not that much better but pop-inā€™s mostly fixed, loading times are a LOT better and the split screen is at 60FPS. If you have a PS5 then go for that version Iā€™d say.

I need help. So, 2022 is nearing. And no doubt will it be a great year for gaming. The last half of February and the first half of March are going to be brutal for me personally, and probably many other gamers. Within just a month we'll see the releases of:

  • Sifu
  • Horizon Forbidden West
  • Elden Ring
  • Gran Turismo 7

So? Help me decide of course! What game are you getting first? Which one do you reckon is most essential?

Kidfried

KilloWertz

Horizon Forbidden West is the most essential for me. It's been my most anticipated game since it was first announced before the PS5 came out. I'm also not a FromSoftware/Souls fan, so no matter how much hype there is, Elden Ring is a hard pass for me.

@Kidfried It's a nice problem to have, too much choice. I'd also say it would be Horizon for me just because the first one was so good. Having played Demon's Souls now I'm also really keen to get Elden Ring so that will be soon after. Sifu looks interesting and if the reviews are good then I'll be up for getting that at some point.

@Kidfried Tricky. I reckon Horizon will be the best for showing off what the PS5 can do from that list. I plan on getting a replay of the first game in beforehand though.

Iā€™m not overly excited by Gran Turismo as I tend to prefer more arcadey racers. Elden Ring Iā€™m intrigued by but not enough to be day 1.

Sifu also looks cool and being a smaller developer, itā€™s nicer for them to get the money but also more potential to drop in price for sales!

So, most essential: HFW, one Iā€™d be most likely day 1/pre-order: Sifu.
