I wish it was a standalone thing, so I could get it physical on PS5. But I don't mind waiting for a steep price drop in that case. €80 for just another island is a bit much.
@colonelkilgore Did you just make up a term? I like it.
Yeah, I’d have preferred the expandalone approach like Miles Morales, Lost Legacy, First Light. Instead it’s more Frozen Wilds sounding.
Alas, I’ll wait for reviews before committing to $30 to upgrade and get the extra island. All in all if it’s content rich as the previous expandalone sequels, then it’s a great deal at $30 for the content and the base game in native PS5 glory. Japanese lip-syncing and all.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
@Th3solution no, sadly I can't claim it, someone mentioned the term expandalone in another thread... I do like the expression though 😁.
Yeah I'll probably get the directors cut too... from what I've played of GoT so far (around 9 - 10 hours in) I think I'd quite happily play through the game again in a year or two (probably two).
I kinda expected to play as Yuna, as she fled to the mainland (and Ikishima is a logical stop). Anyway, definitely expect a bunch of pirate action, the south-western region of Japan is known for its pirates during that time. Could be interesting, but yeah, a little disappointed it isn't a standalone.
Also wonder what's the point of State of Play anymore. Stuff gets announced left and right, and State of Play occurs once in a blue moon and features only one or two games.
@Kidfried@Octane They do seem to be really inconsistent on how they announce things. I mean Death Stranding Directors Cut got a teaser trailer on a prime time show yet GoT which surely is just as big, if not a bigger game for Sony, just got a blog post. Surely it would have made more sense to put this out as part of a State Of Play or as part of the summer game fest as well.
@Voltan You have a point with the HK and GK link but I think Sony were down as one of the partners of that event so seems a shame for them not to have put this on there also. Especially seeing as they are asking money for it as showing some video footage of the improvements / expansion would have been a better way to get people excited by it. Well that would have excited me more anyway 😄
@Kidfried They do seem to have made the State Of Plays mostly more focused events so that might well mean they do something like you suggest with TLoU.
I do like the focused ones but also feel like it's been a while since they did a general showcase of what's to come. It just feels like there is a gap at the minute that they need to fill with a good flurry of trailers for what's to come for the rest of the year and into next. Perhaps there's even some news about PS Now or even the system software, just something....anything 🤲
Personally I did not use the data transfer option so I can't help there. For best way to upgrade I'd view the product in the store then use the three dots "..." and it'll pop up some options for different verisons. But a recent odd case being the FF7 Remake PS4 to PS5 upgrade which was a separate thing in the store.
Once I plugged in my external drive it automatically gave the option to format. I think most of the rest mode issues got resolved but I still have my settings for "Power to USB ports" and "Internet Connectivity" turned off for rest mode.
@Col_McCafferty I have done literally none of that (except a couple game upgrades but not these particular games) but welcome to the club!
Actually now that I think about it, I don’t believe there’s an actual PS5 version of Mass Effect - it just runs better in backwards compatibility, which means you don’t really have to do anything about that one.
@Col_McCafferty yeah upgrading through the store is real simple, I’ve recently upgraded Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and Final Fantasy 7 Remake… it’s real quick and simple. Congrats on getting a PS5, enjoy.
@TraCuz- hey Tra, yeah it’s class ain’t it! I’ve probably put around 10 hours in and loving pretty much everything about the game. The setting and all the little touches (visually and audio-wise) to make it feel as authentic as possible are spot on, the story and characters got me engaged from the opening scene and it’s just really fun to play.
Right now I’m thinking that I’ll probably end up picking up the Directors Cut at some point and play through the whole thing again sometime down the road as it’s just such a quality product that it is worth another play through.
You still playing FFXIV, or have you moved on to something else?
@colonelkilgore Man that opening of Ghost is so epic and memorable, I literally had chills when they gave me control. And oh man... That part when title screen comes up is just a masterful chef kiss. Probably one of my favorite title cards haha. I can't remember, are you playing on PS5? But surely one of my favorite open world experiences, nothing like swiping that touchpad for the wind! I'm really curious to see if other games copy a similar system in the future.
FFXIV has been everything to me lately, and it's safe to say I'm gonna be on it for the rest of the year. Especially since the Endwalker expansion comes out in November. It's so conflicting because there's SOO many games I wanna play, but FFXIV is so amazing to me.
Colonel entertain me a moment and check out this video when you have a chance. If you've seen it before then never mind me. But there isn't one word spoken in this and I guarantee you'll feel something. Volume up!
