@Kidfried@Octane They do seem to be really inconsistent on how they announce things. I mean Death Stranding Directors Cut got a teaser trailer on a prime time show yet GoT which surely is just as big, if not a bigger game for Sony, just got a blog post. Surely it would have made more sense to put this out as part of a State Of Play or as part of the summer game fest as well.
@Voltan You have a point with the HK and GK link but I think Sony were down as one of the partners of that event so seems a shame for them not to have put this on there also. Especially seeing as they are asking money for it as showing some video footage of the improvements / expansion would have been a better way to get people excited by it. Well that would have excited me more anyway š
@Kidfried They do seem to have made the State Of Plays mostly more focused events so that might well mean they do something like you suggest with TLoU.
I do like the focused ones but also feel like it's been a while since they did a general showcase of what's to come. It just feels like there is a gap at the minute that they need to fill with a good flurry of trailers for what's to come for the rest of the year and into next. Perhaps there's even some news about PS Now or even the system software, just something....anything š¤²
Personally I did not use the data transfer option so I can't help there. For best way to upgrade I'd view the product in the store then use the three dots "..." and it'll pop up some options for different verisons. But a recent odd case being the FF7 Remake PS4 to PS5 upgrade which was a separate thing in the store.
Once I plugged in my external drive it automatically gave the option to format. I think most of the rest mode issues got resolved but I still have my settings for "Power to USB ports" and "Internet Connectivity" turned off for rest mode.
@Col_McCafferty I have done literally none of that (except a couple game upgrades but not these particular games) but welcome to the club!
Actually now that I think about it, I donāt believe thereās an actual PS5 version of Mass Effect - it just runs better in backwards compatibility, which means you donāt really have to do anything about that one.
@Col_McCafferty yeah upgrading through the store is real simple, Iāve recently upgraded Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and Final Fantasy 7 Remake⦠itās real quick and simple. Congrats on getting a PS5, enjoy.
@TraCuz- hey Tra, yeah itās class aināt it! Iāve probably put around 10 hours in and loving pretty much everything about the game. The setting and all the little touches (visually and audio-wise) to make it feel as authentic as possible are spot on, the story and characters got me engaged from the opening scene and itās just really fun to play.
Right now Iām thinking that Iāll probably end up picking up the Directors Cut at some point and play through the whole thing again sometime down the road as itās just such a quality product that it is worth another play through.
You still playing FFXIV, or have you moved on to something else?
@colonelkilgore Man that opening of Ghost is so epic and memorable, I literally had chills when they gave me control. And oh man... That part when title screen comes up is just a masterful chef kiss. Probably one of my favorite title cards haha. I can't remember, are you playing on PS5? But surely one of my favorite open world experiences, nothing like swiping that touchpad for the wind! I'm really curious to see if other games copy a similar system in the future.
FFXIV has been everything to me lately, and it's safe to say I'm gonna be on it for the rest of the year. Especially since the Endwalker expansion comes out in November. It's so conflicting because there's SOO many games I wanna play, but FFXIV is so amazing to me.
Colonel entertain me a moment and check out this video when you have a chance. If you've seen it before then never mind me. But there isn't one word spoken in this and I guarantee you'll feel something. Volume up!
@TraCuz- yeah Iām playing it on PS5 so, while the Directors Cut will have an even higher resolution⦠Iām getting 60 frames at above 1400p (or so I think anyway). Itās frikking beautiful to look at either way⦠I havenāt played Demons Souls PS5 (I do have it but just waiting on the right time) nor Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart yet but right now either Ghost or God of War is the best looking game Iāve played.
Dude, even though itās literally sucking up all of your gaming time leaving none for anything else, the fact that you are clearly enjoying the **** out of it means youāre spending your time on the right thing. Iāll check out that vid and get back to you when I get 5.
@colonelkilgore Not gonna lie I wish I waited to play it on PS5, I think Ghost has hit me the hardest when it comes to 30fps vs 60fps out of all games. The change is massive. I'm also conflicted about the Director's Cut since I had a bit of a data issue when going to PS4 to PS5 and allllll of my Ghost data got deleted. I had pretty good progress towards the platinum too. I'm worried that I have to beat the game again to access the new content. Which isn't an issue since I love the game, but there's just finding the time to do it xD.
I just wish I completed MGS4 before my FFXIV odyssey. Also a bit of context for the video: The game initially released very bad and they took the servers down to fix the game. Well when they shut the servers down they also made it apart of the story. Months before the end date a red star appeared and got bigger and bigger as the date approached. They also spawned high level enemies all over the game world that could barely be defeated. Once the timer hit zero, this trailer played.
@TraCuz- yeah that video is incredibly epic! Iām a huge fantasy fan and it looks like a world I could definitely get lost in, full of awesome looking character designs. Maybe once I hit 100 Platinumās Iāll treat myself to a game that could take up over 6 months of my time⦠maybe š.
Devastated about your GoT data loss, as great a game as it is⦠you really donāt wanna have to replay everything youāve already done during your playthrough. Still, if you get the pang to play it again, the Directors Cut will be perfect for you.
@TraCuz- so just re-read your post with the extra bit of context you added about the pre-server shut-down activity and then the trailer playing at the conclusion of the count down. Even though the game was supposedly nowhere near as good then as it is today, that mustāve been an epic experience for the players back then.
@Col_McCafferty Awesome, brother! Welcome to the upper crust world of the elite!
I used WiFi to port just my PS4 game saves and a few games. Hard wiring is faster Iām sure, but the process of being on the same WiFi was actually pretty quick. Maybe 2 hours for all my saves and like 4-5 games. Then I downloaded another 3-4 games from
the PSN, which is at least twice as fast as the same sized files on my PS4. And yeah, the PS Plus collection is pretty awesome. Iāve played most of them but there are a couple quality titles Iām glad to have instantly like RE7. But as far as the howās of doing the port process, it will walk you through it when you fire it up.
The upgrading from PS4 to PS5 versions of games is a little strange to me, tbh. You have to be careful and check but use the three dot (ā¦) button to check for the PS5 version to download. Some games automatically default to the PS4 version, some download both. Itās a little strange. The icon of the game will have a little āPS4ā label, whereas PS5 games donāt have any label saying āPS5ā.
I havenāt really used a extended HD so canāt speak to it.
āWe cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.ā
