Have any of you guys come across people on the internet saying the PS5 is a half baked mess? I think there are some things to be ironed out but calling it a mess is borderline slander, am I wrong?
I was fortunate enough to come across a console at launch, and I'm not gonna lie I had issues. Issues that lasted probably about 2-3 weeks into the console's life. I had issues with my external HDD, issues where the console would randomly crash, applications would crash, but after the updates Sony pushed out I've had a really smooth experience.
I'm coming from a base ps4 so I've never gamed at 4k or a locked 60fps, let alone both at the same time. I'm still blown away by Ghosts PS5 patch, it's like a completely new game. So far I'm in love with my experience.
@TraCuz- yeah itās just fake news from the Xbox bots and PC elite! Itās a great piece of kit that so far out-performs the Series X (even if only marginally) more often than not. Now I am no PC aficionado (& Iām sure a lot of so called PC elite will dispute this) but I have seen videos from neutral sources (DF, NXGamer etc) that have equated a PS5 to a 2080ti when used by 3rd Party Devs. That is some power for a Ā£450.00 box... 1st Party devās would probably be able to crank even more output from it.
@TraCuz- I did see a video pop up on Youtube from Review Tech USA with that exact title, He seems a bit of a moron to be honest and I'm not really a fan of youtubers in general. I roll my eyes every time my nieces and nephews tell me they aspire to be youtubers š.
Don't get me wrong there are some great content creators out there but the rubbish outnumbers the good stuff 1000 to 1
@TraCuz- I think that 'Half-Baked Mess' is a bit strong but then a lot of people over exaggerate. A 'good' game can be called an absolute 'mess' by some people - maybe because they expected 'more' or 'better'
Lets be honest here, the PS5 didn't launch with all the promised features and functionality. VRR, Internal Expansion slot not active, potentially missing some other 'next gen' options like VRR, Mesh Shaders etc so you can understand why some may be a little disappointed.
If a game released with various promised features and functions missing, some would say that was a half baked mess....
A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!
Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
@TraCuz- I would say the console came in hot for sure! We will never know how much of an impact covid had on the launch. I had to send my first console back for constant crashes on multiple ps5 games. New system with same versions of software and firmware have been bulletproof. I actually think the system set up is better than people give it credit for. It pulled all my saves in for games I loaded onto the system without me having to do anything. I still wouldn't use rest mode or an external drive yet though. It less half baked mess and more hungover, got to treat it like its fragile!
@Th3solution I played Destruction All Stars when it released for a couple of hours but gone back to it since. But do plan to whenever the mood strikes me. It doesn't strike me as a Sol type game though.
Maneater I had a lot of fun with, I found it a nice palette cleanser after cyberpunk. The controls and camera take a bit to get used to, and it might become a bit repetitive for some. I liked the sense of humour in it and it felt quite unique in how it played. ACG did a good review on YouTube, as there are not too many PS5 reviews from sources I trust. He played it on a mid tier pc which is quite comparable to the ps5 version, and nails how I felt about the game.

@JohnnyShoulder Thanks for your perspective. I try to keep an open mind, but yeah ā when itās being compared to games like Fortnite, Overwatch, Fall Guys, and Twisted Metal, none of which Iāve really played (outside of one or two painful sessions of Fortnite), Iād venture itās not āSol typeā either (love the term š)

If I was still after a PS5, I'd be tempted just wait a few months now until all the shops can open for business properly in the UK. Hopefully it will mean being able to literally pick one up from a store, a lot easier get one.

@johnvboy I think you either have to be extremely lucky or have a bot. My progress bar is at best 20% the way through so Iām not holding out much hope. Putting rubbish t-shirts in the bundles to increase the price is a very Game thing to do too..
@JohnnyShoulder You may be right. Iām not that desperate to get one but just hoped it might get lucky this time.
The consoles on e-bay are dropping in price as there are around 3000 of them listed, and you can get many for £650 or less.
On the Xbox series x front there are 4000 consoles listed, so they can be picked up for around £500 or so, and you still can't find Xbox stock in the U.K apart from random drops.
So basically the more stock listed on e-bay the more the price will drop.
Wait time 4 minutes..... did get on right as they were live...
And out of stock, total shambles as usual, and I doubt any retailer is getting that many consoles, it's just the tipsters stating 10,000 and 15,000 consoles each time..
Given up, will wait until later in the year, or hope a load get put on e-bay and the price drops..
The whole situation is shambolic at all online stores, I thought you had already bought a console though, I am sure you got one on e-bay from someone looking for a quick sale.
