@Th3solution I ended up going with the standard digital version in recent sale but almost went with anniversary edition simply for that Yaris. Owned a couple Yaris' and they were fun little cars. It's cool to see what a high performance version can do. Oh well.
Anyway hopefully you're able to use the codes. If not, it was worth a try.

@render It turns out the codes are used already, so a mild disappointment there, but I figured I’d just try the game out for a few minutes and I ended up being completely and utterly captivated by this game. It’s so good.
——Early Impressions ——
My last GT game I played was GT5 several years ago, and I was becoming fairly burned out on the series by that point and when GT Sport came out I was so put off by the online only launch that I swore off of it (and racing entirely). GT7 has really captured the excitement for me that the older GT games once had. It felt really familiar and nostalgic to jump back in, yet there is obviously a totally new and fresh aspect to it as well.
It looks gorgeous. I knew it would be a graphical showcase, but I wasn’t prepared for how fantastic it was going to look. The handling and controls are great too and the the DualSense feels pretty good so far, especially the haptics, but the adaptive triggers are a nice touch too.
I opted for the intermediate level of assists and the normal AI difficulty, and it’s fairly easy so far. I can see myself turning off the braking prompts and the race line guide eventually but we’ll see. I know the early races and licenses are supposed to be easy so I might like to have the extra assists when things get harder.
The game has a real addictive nature to the play loop, indeed. I had a really hard time turning off my PS5 last night to go to bed and if my DualSense hadn’t run out of battery then I might still be playing now. 😄
When I played Dirt 5 a few months ago, one of my complaints was the lack of any variance in how one car felt to drive versus another. As expected, GT 7 has nailed this so far. Each of the 6 or 7 cars I’ve driven to this point behave completely differently, with their unique handling quirks, sounds, and appearance. And I haven’t even dabbled much into the tuning aspects yet.
I’m just so pleased with the game and I’m glad Polyphony seems to have finally got it right, after a bit of a stumble out of the gate. The live-service nonsense and the microtransactions is a eyesore to have to deal with, but thankfully it seems tucked away to the side enough to not be a major distraction for me yet.
My only regret is that the impulse buy and subsequent impulse play session of the game now has me instantly addicted and has thrown off my backlog attack plan. 😅 But like has been said many times — gaming is about fun and so one should play what they’re in the mood to play.
I’ll be out of pocket this Sunday so won’t join in the Push Square group, but I might in the future.

@zupertramp Unfortunately the codes were used after all. The packaging, inserts, and case were in pristine condition so I thought they might not have been but alas, I’m loving the game so far. How are you enjoying it?
@Th3solution glad you're enjoying it, shame about the codes but you still got it at a good price.
The licence tests, circuit experiences and missions are all very addictive. Wouldn't worry about the microtransactions, you can definitely get the platinum and build up a good array of cars without spending any real money and just working through the game.
@Th3solution y'know by the time I bought GT Sport it was a lot more fleshed out. Plenty of single player content to the point that I ended up getting similarly burned out before truly completing everything. And it looked really good.
So, idk, it's hard not feel a little like GT7 is just a repackaging of Sport + a return of previously standard features. Interface is vastly different and the menu books are new but other than that I can't say I've noticed anything in this game that has blown me away in comparison. (And I find shopping at a used car lot in a video game bizarre frankly lol.) It's all just about what I would have expected, almost mundanely so.
But that sounds really negative to say but it really is a great racer, it's just it mostly always has been so there's not much to one up. It's kinda what I imagine a new Madden feels like when you already own last year's. More of the same things you love but slightly refreshed.
That's my hot take anyway.

@Th3solution@Elodin I really recommend taking the auto-drive assistance off just fyi. With the braking area and braking indicator there's hardly a need to have the computer start hitting the brakes for you plus it slows you down way too early. Even for beginners it seems a bit much. Just my two cents.

Push Square GT7 Fastest Lap Challenge - results week 8
As Friday draws to a close that wraps up week 8's challenge. This was a pretty tight one at the top again with some really good results. I found that I actually enjoyed the short cut track even though I hate the full circuit so I wasn't expecting that. The Yaris was also not bad although I feel with some tuning it could be really quick.
Well done everyone and special mention to zupertramp for taking part for the very first time - I know it won't be long before you are mixing it with the rest of the midfield and then hopefully troubling those top 3 times. Hope everyone enjoyed this one and I'll have another one ready to go on Monday.
@zupertramp i appreciate the advice. I did turn it off after a couple races, but still have the brake and line indicators on. I think I still have traction and abs on too.
@zupertramp Yeah, that makes sense; the Madden or FIFA type of comparison is probably accurate. I did read a lot of that about GT7 being very similar to GT Sport (or to what it eventually became after the added SP content, anyways) and considered just picking up Sport for $10 instead. But I really wanted the DualSense experience and fancy ray tracing and optimized PS5 feature set.
It looks like the focus on historical snippets about car makers is an added wrinkle. I really find them interesting, but I’m not sure I’m going to find those mini lectures as charming after the umpteenth time though. 😄 We’ll see.

@Th3solution I got Sport bc of the price difference and to make sure this was a game I could enjoy. I heard it was harder than Forza, so I wasn’t sure how approachable it would be. Really enjoying Sport so far. So, I caved in and got 7 when it was on sale. Haven’t fired it up bc I have so much to do on Sport. I bet it will be next year before I complete.
@rockodoodle I have to give the developers credit — they really made the game much more approachable than I remember previous entries from being. I don’t remember GT1-5 having much assist features or AI difficulty sliders. Antilock braces and Traction Control were about it. Racing sim purists will probably turn their nose up at it (like if FromSoft put in an easy mode) but it’s a nice way to get your feet wet with the controls and not get too frustrated in the early hours. I’m having a blast with the game so far.

Apologies for boasting but I have to share this somewhere.
Just beat my nemesis S-7 on the super licence!!! (The one with the formula car at Laguna Seca).
After countless attempts I started getting sub 1:09 times this morning and beating the ghost, finding the lines and finally got there.
Feeling pretty ecstatic about that and only one more to go now (S-10), but think I'll leave that for another day.

@sorteddan@JudgeDredd I was trucking along doing fairly well getting gold on these things until I got to the last section of the International B license. And what annoys me most is that you get absolutely no credit for all silver. Don't understand that. But whatever.
Anyway props on improving on what I'm sure is a frustrating challenge. I'm not all that convinced I'm going to make it all the way through International A but I know how it is where sometimes stepping away and coming back to it gives you the break you need for an improved approach.

@JudgeDredd yeah it's that one. But I actually meant the entire latter half of the IB license. Like IB-6 thru 10, with a noteworthy bit of hatred toward that wet cornering in the M3 (like who's even driving in that?!).
However... sat down today and really committed myself to getting these and with quite a lot of perseverance and the help of your post reminding me, duh, there are a variation of assistance features at my disposal I got gold on all. The Trial Mountain section in the R32 ended up just taking a handful of tries with the traction control at 1. When I turned it completely off it was just too loose, I was sliding all over.
It's a bummer the reward for that is the Taycan Turbo as I hate that car but, alas, I can move on satisfied. Thanks.

Hi everyone, here's your week 9 challenge. A quick reminder for anyone that hasn't taken part yet, each week I pick a different track and car combination - hopefully one that we've all got from playing the campaign or one that isn't too expensive from the used car or brand central dealers and we then see who out of all of us can set the fastest lap with it using the TT mode on the specific track. It's open to anyone from novice to seasoned players and is just a bit of fun with the only prize on offer being the feeling of smugness knowing that you've beaten your fellow Push Square forum members.
Hopefully everyone has unlocked this one but I thought what's always good is a big American muscle car on a European track - what can go wrong? Luckily for you guys there's plenty of straight to use that powwwwwwer!
Track: Monza - Full Course Car: Camaro ZL1 1LE Package '18 Settings: Default settings sheet (if you think you might have changed settings just create a new sheet) Tyres: Sports Medium Time of day: 17:15 Method:
The idea is to go in blind, no practice using the track / car combo before hand and no restarting - this is going to rely on everyone being honest as there's really no way to police this. Any day Monday to Thursday this week go to World Circuits, select the track followed by Time Trial -
Select the specific time of day -
Select the car and tyres -
You've got 5 laps to put together a solid lap time. Once you've crossed the line on the 5th lap exit the time trial and take a screenshot of the times screen as per this example:
Upload the image to Twitter or another sharing service e.g. imgur.com and post the link here. Please try and leave it till Friday to post your screenshot so as not to influence other peoples times but I can appreciate that this won't always be possible e.g. going on holiday. I'll take a look at all the screenshots and pick the driver with the fastest lap and they will be awarded the prize of being a Smug G(i)T and be able to bask in the glory of their achievement for an entire week before we start all over again.
@JudgeDredd
Thanks for the setup tips for S10. Had a bunch of assists set and was just about managing to control it. After a couple of hours trying this morning I span off, decided to change TCS all the way up from 3 to 5 and beat it two attempts later!
Was actually gutted when I crossed the line as I thought I was half a second off - then the gold trophy appeared and I'd actually beat it by half a second... Massive wave of relief and elation followed!
So if anyone else is attempting to do it, believe me when I say I am no better than average, using controller and it is definitely possible if you set your mind to it.
