Topic: Ghost of Tsushima not working on PS5

Ghost of Tsushima is not installing on PS5...when it reaches 36% it simply says 'Can't copy or download'...all other games worked, even Watch Dogs which is PS4 disc too...
Basically it's stuck at 6GB.

Hi, I’ve got the same issue but mine errors at 1.356gb on the install everytime from disc 😭
The patch downloads fine and other PS4 games I’ve tried from disc do.

@Octane thanks mate! But I am not using any external for the time being. Just the GoT disc inside the PS5. What bothers me most is that it works fine on PS4...weird!

@AFCC same, it’s got to be firmware related I think. Many people are having various relating to installing and downloading patches etc it seems. I’ve contacted Sucker Punch about our issue last night, will update if I get a reply.

These kind of threads are very useful to me since I want to play many PS4 games on my backlog directly on a PS5.
It would be great to have some kind of "PS4 games on PS5 guide" to monitor the whole situation, constantly updated thanks to users experiences.

@andreoni79 Good idea, but I think that would be difficult to do as most people report the issue and then never post again. Plus most of these issues will be fixed eventually and the vast majority of PS4 games do work.

@AFCC Does it work if you transfer the game from PS4?

I can't say I've had this issue, I've installed a few PS4 games including this digitally and a couple by using the disc and all have worked fine

@InvaderJim I didn't try transfers cause I had the game on external and I don't want to plug it in, since some cases brick the console

Since I’ve still got my PS4 (for now) I’m going to try and data transfer it directly from PS4 to PS5 as a last resort to get it working. I’ve not finished the game yet and have to pack up my PS4 as I’ve sold it 😂. Have you still got your Ps5?

@carlos82 I think digital might work better. I installed GoT digitally and it worked fine. It sounds like people having problems with it are installing from disc. I haven't installed anything from a disc yet (PS4 games, that is) but when I do it'll be interesting to see if I start getting errors like this.

Yes, it's mainly people with discs but some people are getting various issues with download & install errors as well.

I've managed to move it over by data transfer from my PS4 to PS5 in the end.

I've installed a few ps4 games from disc and it was fine, but Ghost has been a nightmare!

UPDATE:

The disc doesn't work to install on PS4 now, tried deleting and installing. I guess the disc is dead :/ I'm sad since this was a game I wanted to continue playing for the online mode.

My disc doesn't work either, have you got a ps4 still?

@Halis yes! Doesn't install there either. I think the PS5 "broke" the cd

I already had it installed on my PS4 so i moved it over. I’ve sold my PS4 now so I can’t check if my disc is useless 😞.
It’s such a strange issue and now I fear that it’s going to affect my other PS4 game discs.
No one will acknowledge the problem as well which is even more annoying.
I’ve gone completely digital for Next gen even though I didn’t really want to because going forward to PS6 and beyond it’s going to get harder

I've got exactly the same problem. It completed the install fine and the patch. But whenever I go to play it it starts trying to install itself from the disc again and then fails.. But the game does work - I've done the first chapter with no problems... Will see if it is missing content as I progress in the game..

I just finished the game on ps5, didn’t even start it on ps4. Didn’t have any issues at all.
