I also found a talisman that heals you quite a bit whenever you get a critical hit - backstab or parry/poise break crit. It’s really useful if I can resist chugging potions
@R1spam Yes mate the Uchi is solid... and the 'Unsheathe' art is brutal! Definitely look to find the 'Warmaster Shack' and purchase/equip the 'no skill' Art onto your shield. When you can then use unsheathe when 1-handing (shield in 2nd hand) it really let's you adapt your playstyle!
Wow, that fight with Smarag was awesome. Huge Monster Hunter vibes there.
Got killed a few times, but I won once I accepted the path to victory involved staying on my horse, keeping my distance, and making sure I'm always galloping toward it so it doesn't hit me with its fire beam. Staggering it with Unsheathe is fun, but it spends too much time in the air to make the risk worth it.
Staying out of Caelid, though. It's pretty clear I'm underleveled for that area, and I barely managed to kill those obnoxious Tigrex-ish things wandering around. Once the monster bird showed up... yeah, no, staying away from there for now.
@CJD87 I saw that AoW at the warmaster shack before, but since the game doesn't really describe what it does. I just ignored it. That's actually tremendously helpful advice, since it means I no longer have to swap between dual-and-single handing my weapon. Thanks!
@Ralizah Not sure what is is on PC, but on PlayStation by pressing Square it will switch the middle display panel, and it will display a better description for the item. Some of them can still be quite cryptic though!

Got my wolves back, they started working at the same time the bloodstains did, don't know if there's any link. I've also got a shield which blocks 100% damage.
As a result, after struggling since I started, I'm suddenly slaughtering everything. Margit is down, as are couple of mini-bosses. I've even ventured out of Limgrave a couple of times. Things are hotting up now.
Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.
@CJD87 I'm doing a dex build but hoping to add in a bit of magic later. I found a sorceress to buy spells from, I just need a staff/wand and an idea of minimum requirements!
One thing I just can't work out - every so often, in the middle of a fight on horseback, Torrent will just disappear, as though I've un-summoned him. It's not because Torrent has died or I've been knocked off horseback, I can only assume I'm triggering some combination of buttons or something that the game is interpreting as "get off torrent now", has anyone come across this and any idea what I might be doing?
I have torrent set as the "up" option in my pouch, but I'm definitely not pressing those buttons (I'm on PC but using a controller, I'm assuming the control scheme is the same between PS5 and PC - with the exception that I press the "share" button to go into the map, because steam interprets that as whatever button it corresponds to positionally on an xbox controller)
@Gremio108 My experience is largely similar! Margit wrecked me, no joke took about 30-40 tries. But I've been exploring, levelling, upgrading weapons etc... now at a comfortable lv 27.
Just took down Godrick, main boss of Stormveil, and remarkably managed this on first attempt (drafted in NPC summon as well as my own Jellyfish). The game is definitely heating up, and Stormveil was an amazing experience. I'll likely return for another run through as felt I missed loads!
@R1spam Good luck with the build man! I'm sticking with 'basic' DEX and focussing on levelling up the Uchi to scale more with DEX stat, and also focussing on the LongBow upgrade path. Managed to nab a 2nd Uchi also, and looking to dual-wield once I increase my END enough to mitigate fat rolling from carrying both at once...
@Jimmer-jammer absolutely!! it's at a place called the waypoint ruins, North of the bloodhound knight in south limgrave. There's house with loads of crazy poisonous plants and a dungeon underneath. One you beat the dungeon boss, she's in a room in the back. happy hunting and cheers for the tip! I just realised I went to the place you describe by mistake and got my ***** rocked and left sharpish! Looks like I've got to back 😂
@Jimmer-jammer Not sure how accurate this, but this feels about right in regards to staggering enemies...
After successfully guarding against an enemy's attack, you can quickly press the heavy attack button to deliver a massive blow to their health and invisible stagger bar.
@Gremio108 That is well weird as all my spirit summons have been working as intended for me. Oh well, glad they are working for you now! I have a handful of them now all on my quick item bar.
Also well done on beating Margit! I similarly beat him earlier after a handful of attempts. I did have the NPC summon with me but did not use any spirit summons as wanted to save my FP for my Unsheath skill.
I ventured further into the castle and it wasn't too bad, apart from a couple of big boys. Will probs go back to Limgrave and do the Kenneth side quest and a few more bits and bobs.

Which spirit summons are worth levelling? I opened the ability to buff them but not sure which is worth investing in. The dogs cost too much FP and get pwned by AOE, the s Nobel sorcerer hits for nothing….
@nessisonett It is! I also like the undead ones as the come back to life if not killed properly!
@Jimmer-jammer Indeed! It's all about breaking enemies stance. It is actually detailed in the game menu, under 'inventory' then press L1 to go to 'info' and about the 4th one down, depending on how many notes/paintings you have got.
