@colonelkilgore On a related note - you should always be able to summon help from a potentially superior player (if necessary) for the first year or so after release.
@TheBrandedSwordsman yeah good point, there is normally a trophy or two where you need to get summoned into somebody’s boss fight and help them defeat the boss too. Loads of my PSN mates were met through me putting down a summon sign, as I needed to earn a particular status within a covenant and such. Good times.
Adding jump buttons are all the rage these days. BotW was, I believe, the first game where Link had a dedicated jump button. SMT V is the first time in that series where your character can jump as well.

@colonelkilgore@JohnnyShoulder@Jimmer-jammer Did you watch any of the Elden Ring Closed Network Test videos? If so, what were the highlights/what stood out for you? Any criticisms thus far?
@TheBrandedSwordsman yeah I watched (well listened) to a few vids while I’ve been churning-out MGS4 playthroughs. Sounds (& looks from the odd glimpse I shot across to my I-pad) amazing… which was obviously expected. It actually looks more Soulsey than even I expected (🤫 & that is no bad thing as far as I’m concerned 😉).
Honestly, this looks great... and probably the first game I've been truly 'excited' to play since my return to gaming in the last year!
I'm glad that FS have not compromised on the difficulty setting, and its really pleasing to hear (from various YouTube playthroughs) that the foray into open-world territory has clicked well with the pre-established Souls formula.
I started Demon's Souls last night on PS5, and am side-gaming it with BOTW on Switch... considering that Elden Ring seems to be the love-child of the 2 x aforementioned!
1 question I have, and apologies if already covered, but will there be an option to re-map the controls? DeS on PS5 doesn't allow this with ease, and its hindering my progress somewhat. Finding it a bit tricky flipping between BOTW/DeS and the control fluctuations (BOTW equally has no re-map option).
@CJD87 In-game remapping would be better, but the Switch allows you to customize button mapping on a system level, so you can technically remap the game's controls however you like.

@lolwhatno Im watching silky smooth voiced Vaativydia as well as fightincowboy. And a bit of fextralife. Honestly, I will probably dig deep down the youtube abyss and watch many, many, videos. I am a huge fan of From Software and so far I'm only getting more excited
@kyleforrester87 Correct mate yes you can flip jump from default 'X' (which is horrible!) - - -> 'B', and that works much better. Other than that though, and unless you swap out controls through Switch UI options, there is nothing in-game to support remapping.
@Ralizah Yes I think its good how the Switch offers this. In honesty though, my bigger issue is probably the Demon's Souls control scheme - particularly using the triggers as melee attacks. I played a lot of MH Rise earlier this year, and have conditioned myself in to using face buttons as attack. I don't think there is actually anything fundamentally wrong with the DeS controls, and appreciate the concept, but personally I'm finding it tricky adjusting the muscle memory!
Before I undertake a full PS5 remap, I'm not sure whether to just 'stick' in preparation for Elden Ring. I know many game today use triggers for melee attacks, so maybe best to suck it up and get used to it!
@Jimmer-jammer I've watched a couple of videos and apart from a boss which was essentially a dog wearing a cape and crown and holding a sword/spitting fire, whilst alternatively hovering in the air, which I thought at first must have been some Youtubers doing a prank (I really didn't care for this boss) I have largely positive feelings about the new mechanics of the game, despite some of my previous comments on here, after seeing more of the game.

Lance McDonald tested the PS4 version which was running reasonably well. I’m surprised but that’s good news for everyone. 👍
This is going to be an incredible game
The crowd, accepting this immediately, assumed the anti-Eurasian posters and banners everywhere were the result of acts of sabotage by agents of Goldstein and ripped them from the walls.
