@JohnnyShoulder let's not be too rash here. Some people are allergic to feathers I'll have you know! And judging by how some people react to my language, I'd say some people have a real problem with that too.
@colonelkilgore Oh yeah I remember reading about the respawn points now, and the maps are obviously gonna be a helpful addition. I still don't think they'll adequately compensate for not being able to create an OP build, though.

@TheBrandedSwordsman I've just seen a video that went through every thing they saw at the recent gameplay breakdown. They confirmed levelling up will work the same as in previous Souls games. Players will collect Runes which are effectively the new Souls that allow players to level up and place points into attributes. These are lost upon death dropping onto the ground.... think you know the rest.

@JohnnyShoulder Thanks for providing that, @colonelkilgore What do you think of the new info? It will be stats-based levelling after all, eh? OP UGS build here I come! (Guts, the Branded Swordsman rides again!) the adventure continues... in Elden RIng!
@TheBrandedSwordsman excited (as always)... couple of things stuck out in terms of gameplay:
1. It's a Dark Souls experience but with more freedom.
2. The freedom lends itself to the ability to play the game 'your' way.
Lore-wise:
1. Waifu is possibly the spirit-steed.
2. Pot-boi! (dont know why but I imagine that they may fulfill a similar function to the little blue and green elves in Golden Axe)
3. Pumpkin-bro!
4. and transplanted arms. I'm fascinated by the notion that the adding of arms to characters has 'levelled them up' in some way.
Slightly miffed by the idea that you can only invade a co-op party... but there still seems to be the option to duel, so not all bad in that respect.
@colonelkilgore Going back a bit with the Golden Axe reference! 🤣 I don't remember that, but according to the vid the pot men are friendly but contain valuables if smashed.

@JohnnyShoulder They would drop potions if you managed to hit them but they zoomed around the screen pretty quickly to make it harder. Harmless otherwise. I think the potions were used for magic attacks. Man, it's been a while
@colonelkilgore "Many of the weapons are lifted directly from DS3" "The other weapons that we saw included...greatswords" but he didn't say ugs, does that mean claymores but no zweihanders?
"Even in the face of death, the samurai stands unwavering, for honour is a blade sharper than steel".
@JohnnyShoulder yeah as @Voltan said, the more you managed to hit them, the more goodies they dropped. I think blue ones dropped magic potions and the green ones maybe dropped health. Maybe these Pot-Boi's drop similarly.
@colonelkilgore Indeed the green ones dropped food, which would heal you. I definitely put a lot of hours into Golden Axe and now that I think of it I'm not even sure if I ever got to the end
@Voltan so the arcade version ended when you beat 'Deathadder' who I think was the boss at the end of level 6... but I'm pretty sure they added two more levels to the Megadrive version and then you had to beat 'Deathadder's bigger and badder brother 'Deathbringer'
Never completed the arcade but played it to death on Megadrive and finished it many times.
@colonelkilgore I played it on PC and Amiga. Consoles weren’t really a thing in Poland until the PlayStation (other than cheap unlicensed NES clones).
Back on topic.... I reckon the Pot Guys might be something like the crystal lizards in the Souls games. Maybe they contain some of the rarer crafting recipes that have been confirmed to be found around the world.

@Th3solution Are you familiar with the LotR books and/or movies? Apparently they inspired George R.R. Martin's writing of the lore and his world-building of the game, thus, I reckon a background knowledge of the LotR books will aid in the appreciation of this game.
N.B I'm currently reading through the first book in the LotR series, and I have already read The Hobbit.
