@Bentleyma You can skip the first 2 DLCs but try to play Trespasser if you can to see the true ending and get your questions answered regarding why Solas left 👀

I'm curious as well to see reviews and to see how long the game is, I also heard there won't be any type of paid story dlc as this will be a one and done game, which I am fine with

@Yagami I will for sure play the game, the reviews will let me know if it needs to be played now or I can hold off until it goes on sale

The reviews seem to be pretty solid overall. Considering I really enjoyed Inquisition, I’ll probably pick this one up. Some of my go-to reviewers have said good things, although one that I thoroughly enjoy his opinion on, considers the game a disappointment. I’ll probably just make the decision myself.

@Yagami Got my answer on how long the game is including completionist, which I am happy about

Kala says 20 - 25 is main story. 50 is main story plus companion quest. 60 is main story, companion and side. 70 plus is completionist.

Life to the living, death to the dead.

Kraven

@Pizzamorg That’s not bad! It’ll probably take me 20+ hours longer than what the completionist hours are — I always take longer with my games — but this seems like a solid amount of time!

Ravix

Glad to see it reviewing well. Still too much put me off in the trailers and gameplay videos to get it day one, but user impressions on here will be much more persuasive, especially if people are really enjoying it 😁

@Kraven IGN said 100 hours for about 100% completionist

Wow the toxic bigrade is really out in force for this one. Playstation Access has done one of their impressions videos with the things they like about it (like they do for all big Playstation releases being a channel working for Sony). The comment section is full of people slating them for saying good things and plenty talking about unsubbing. I highly doubt they were subbed in the first place.

@BearsEatBeets Eurogamer’s comment section on the YouTube video is the same way. It’s quite vile and repulsive. I really don’t understand. If a game is good, and if it’s good to the individual reviewer, then it shouldn’t be a problem. But people like to dislike things that don’t suit their narrative.

Ralizah

Still don't like the look of the game, but I'm tickled it's good enough to rile up the right-wing rubes rooting for its failure.

Might grab it on sale someday when I don't have 40 million games in the backlog.

@Kraven What you said is really true. I mean I understand the game isn't perfect and neither should be any other game but a lot of people wanted this game to fail very hard that they can't accept it might turn out actually good.

Anyway I'm really glad that the game scored solid but I'm trying to avoid any kind of spoilers until I get my hands on it this Thursday.

@Yagami I guess I'll start as a human or elf mage. And you?

I have to admit that the positive reviews have me tempted to check this out. Also the fact that it apparently is more focused than Inquisition.

Still, I can’t decide on the art style. Sometimes I see it and think it looks great and has an interesting personality to it. Then sometimes I see it and it looks like Fortnite and The Witcher 3 got together and had a baby.

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”

I'm definitely buying this come payday; I really do want to support BioWare and it seems that this one is a step back in the right direction. Will have to play Inquisition first, though. I've had a couple of stabs at it, but the bloat always puts me off after a while. After six months of playing The Witcher 3 I think I may have been able to reprogram myself to not try to absolutely everything, so maybe I'll have a better experience this time around

I'm interested in this game, further down the line, if there's any Greatswords invovled 😉 . Think I saw one on YouTube in a promotional/review vid for Dragon Age: Veilguard actually!

"Preoccupied with a single leaf, you won’t see the tree. Preoccupied with a single tree, you’ll miss the entire forest. Don't be preoccupied with a single spot. See everything in its entirety...effortlessly. That is what it means...to truly "see." "

@Kraven @BearsEatBeets Yeah I don't get the backlash towards this or most games receive these days. A character has purple hair? Some of the conspiracy theories flying around yesterday about this game were a bit ridiculous.

If it is genuine criticism, then people are totally in their right to sound off about it as long as it doesn't resort to insults or abuse.

As for the actual game, I'm glad it has reviewed well but am still unsure about. I probably won't get to it for a couple of years any, so who knows where my headspace will be by then.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

Kraven

@JohnnyShoulder I agree with you. I know the gaming culture these days, particularly with people behind a keyboard, say whatever they want without any lingering consequences, but man, the hatred and vileness in some of comments on Eurogamer’s YT review, along with IGN and other outlets, is absolutely disgusting. It is not normal behavior.

There are several reviewers, on this site and other outlets, that I trust. Two of them found the game to be disappointing; others think it’s amazing. I listen to what they have to say, whether positive or negative or both and form my opinion around that. From everything I’ve read, this game seems to be perfectly up my alley and hits all the right notes. The criticism some have doesn’t bother me.

For example, one major complaint is how the choices you made in Inquisition don’t really have an impact on this game. That’s a totally valid point, and I can understand why that might be a flaw. To me, I haven’t played Inquisition in 10 years. I can’t remember any of the decisions I made, other than who I romanced. Hell, I can’t even remember a conversation I had with my wife two weeks ago (ha-ha). It’s been so long that I’m not worried about my prior decisions in a decade old game. As long as I can make new decisions, which are apparently meaningful in this game (a good thing, too!) and have awesome companions and quests (which this game seems to have a lot of), then I’m all for it.

TL;DR - I have the game preordered and ready to go. I’m excited as hell.
