Wanted to add MightyKeef’s latest vid to the Battlefield 6 thread… but to my surprise, there wasn’t one. So I created this one… the game seems super popular right now, so hopefully the thread will get some general use for people who are currently enjoying the game.
Had my best time with the game so far last night. My mate from work surprised me by getting the game, so when I logged on he was playing. You could say I recruited him, as he said he was getting FOMO after listening to me rave about the game lol. It makes such a difference playing in a squad of like minded players who play the objectives and use their class tools/skills.
Finished in the top 5 a few time too (also finished near the bottom a few time, but we won't go into that ), and that wasn't being a kiiling machine with a high K/D ratio, it was doing the above. I got most of my points by defending objectives and doing stuff like reviving people whilst doing that. That has always been the appeal of Battlefield games to me.

Slowly working my way through the support challenges. Currently on 'Support 3' which is the last one I need to unlock the 'Support Specialist' challenges. The last challenge I need to finish is getting the smoke assists which is proving quite difficult. I think I need 50 in total but I can't remember off the top of my head. It's slow progress but it's progress nonetheless.
I can also appreciate lowering the tickets on each map on Conquest. A lot of matches were ending due to time constraints rather than empty tickets so it's a welcome change. I'd prefer if they removed the time limit on matches but it is what it is. I've been so hooked on this that it's eating away at my Ghost of Yotei time!
I am really enjoying this game so much. Probably more than I thought. As someone who was increasingly despondent at how difficult I was finding online multiplayer games- FiFA, COD, Battlefield etc- since returning after a break of many years this has brought back some of the fun again. I'm still not very good and nowhere near as sharp as I was. But with Battlefield 6 it doesn't matter so much. I'm almost always bottom half of the table and still get so much out of it. It's those special moments among the chaos that really stand out and I've already had four of those since it released. My only gripe is I wish I had some friends to play with like back in the day. Genuine team play is still surprisingly rare. But when it does happen it's fantastic. Best game so far was on Sobek city where our squad occupied one of the taller buildings. 2 recon, 1 Assault and 1 medic all working together as a proper squad. If only this happened more often. I know it's the nature of the beast with these games but the amount of players who seemingly have not a single bit of interest in helping each other is disappointing. Even with failure to revive downed players harming your team it's mad how many just run right past and totally ignore you. But all moaning aside it's testament to how good 6 is that it's still so much fun anyway. One of the last games I played I was 0 for 6 on KD and getting a bit frustrated. Then I got a double kill with the sniper rifle, parachuted off a building and landed right onto the back of a moving jeep where I took control of the mounted gun and took out another four players only to be hit by an enemy tank, resussed and then watched as the crane fell down around me and I got headshotted by a distant sniper on the roof opposite. Wonderful stuff!
With regards to your last point...that's one of the things that is so great about this game. I am almost always a bottom half of the board player (and that's fine) but I actually topped the leaderboard yesterday (so proud I screenshotted it) just by defending one location on Operation Firestorm and sniping. I didn't even get that many kills but just by holding that building almost by myself I got an insane points score (by my standards anyway).
@CaptainWow You’re welcome to join me whenever you’d like. I’m open to playing with anyone and really enjoy the social aspect of the game. It’s really awesome when you have a full squad of buddies making calls on objectives and working as a functional unit. It’s a blast!
Yeah I've dusted off my mic this weekend and squaded up with a couple of mates. I've never used the mic on this headset before, and it took me a hilarious amount of time to get it to work initially! But it has been so much better and loads of fun. Battlefield is back baby!
A couple of quick tips I've found super useful:
Turn off all the special graphical effects like Film Grain, Chromatic Aberration etc. I found this mauch easier and clearer to make things out.
Tweak the colour settings for your HUD. I've changed it so the enemies are tagged in yellow, and everything is a bit brighter. I found this makes all the indicators stand out a bit better.
I'm a Conquest guy through and through but Escalation is quickly becoming my second favourite game mode. It essentially combines conquest with breakthrough where if your team holds more objectives for long enough, you earn a point and you lose one objective on your side of the map (for example, objective A gets removed from the map completely) and you push the enemy team back. First to three points wins. It's amazing when both teams have two points but have to fight over only three objectives. It's complete chaos but I'm loving it so far!
EDIT: I'm still extending my invitation to anyone who wants to squad up and play some matches together. Mic or no mic.
@Kairuuu I've been playing a mix of Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush and Escalation. There is also the
All Out Warfare which puts you in a sever of Conquest and Breakthrough matches.
When I've gone to join you before, it won't let me as you have cross play enabled.
EDIT: I have a couple of mates that I play with so have a free spot in our squad. We play with our mics on, but I warn you: we are not very good!
@JohnnyShoulder I was never really a fan of Breakthrough and Rush. Some of the maps always feel really one-sided.
Escalation is freaking great though. It’s amazing when each team is tied on points and you’re fighting over three objectives. It kind of turns into a larger scaled game of domination.
I actually finished off the support challenges last night and unlocked the ‘Support Specialist’ row, so I’m working in those. The ‘intercept projectiles with the Grenade Intercept System’ challenge was bugging out and not tracking during the few games of Conquest I played last night however, upon switching to Escalation it started tracking as normal.
It makes me wonder if [some of] the challenges are bugged only on certain game modes or if you need to switch game modes in order to fix the issue. I’ll test it out later tonight if I can.
This new update is brilliant. I haven't played too much of the Battle Royale mode but the Gauntlet mode is pretty cool.
Strikepoint is where it's at, however. It's a little similar to Search & Destroy from Call of Duty but it has its own differences. 4v4. First team to win 6 rounds out of 11. No respawns per round. I've played only a handful of matches of it so far but it's already becoming a top three game mode for me.
The new map main map, Blackwell Fields, is okay. I need to play it a little more. My biggest gripe with it is that it feels like it's quite a difficult map to snipe on due to the haze from the sun. Maybe it's a skill issue though. I'm still having a blast though. I had a lot of fun exploring the new game modes and the new maps earlier.
I've only played the new map for Conquest a couple of times, and I am also unsure of it. It seemed to be a sniper's paradise at first but then a bit better towards the end. It was also one of the closest matches I played with only 12 or so tickets between the two teams.

Not sure about the new map. The design is a little bland. There's just not much character to it. Feels like a smaller scale 2042 map or something. Had a good game of conquest on it last night as a sniper which I think this map caters to.
Tried the BR mode and had a rare wholesome moment with a random player. I was absolutely useless and kept getting killed yet he was going out of his way to revive and redeploy me. I was apologising for how terrible I was in the chat and he kept replying with things like 'It's all good pal, it's about learning and having fun'. We ended up playing 3 games of RedSec together. I did not improve but it was still fun.
I played Redsec last night with a buddy and it was alright. Not played that many Battle Royals before, only really dabbled with them. It was a nice change of pace from the frantic chaos of the other multiplayer modes I've played.
I didn't realise some unlocks carry over to the main multiplayer side.
