it going underground makes it a very much harder for scalpers to sell their items - because - going underground only has a minor amount of people, ie - instead of the 18000 people now on ebay selling ps5 alone at inflated prices that number would drop

thus more people would be buying the product for intent of using the product for its desired purpose - it would be a slam dunk against scalpers who would be beautiful is someone bought 50 units and got stuck with them - seeing a scalper go into financial ruin would literally be very much like humor to me as i would laugh my head off at them
There was a person who bought I forget how many but something like 44 thousand rolls of toilet paper, they had the intent on selling them on ebay same what is happening with the ps5's collectables etc - they got stuck with these toilet paper in their hands because scalping laws were re-introduced - the one buying them tried selling back to the shops and the shops said no - with ps5's if a person is buying deliberately for the purpose of selling and violating another persons right to buying the console they deserve to lose everything

@LordSteev
I totally agree with you saying overall its a small percentage but the number currently on ebay is 18000+ units according to my last check - ie 749 is the retail price in AU$ the average price i believe it would be 1400 if you were to combine all the ones being sold - so double the price - this would equate to 25 million dollars and ebay is made 2.5 million dollars from it - based on figures to me now - going on for 5 months - the figure would be greater for both - hence why ebay is promoting, condoning and even inspiring people to go out and steal from others

@redd214 what if a persons last wish was to experience a ps5 - possible scenario

kid has cancer and will die soon, their wishes was to play the ps5 last year - the parents who pay for the medical associated with their child goes out to buy a pre order console. Due to the parents economics they manage to scrape only enough to pay for the pre-order and the kid dies shortly after they would have received the ps5 console thus allowing them to play it. But due to scalping the parents were unable to obtain one, so their child last dying wish is never fulfilled as the parents did not have enough cash to buy a scalped item - ebay doesnt care, it made its money from the scalper and the scalper only brought the console for their own greed

@lexxel Like I said in my original post I literally bought one and donated it so you're barking up the wrong tree here. I have directly helped multiple families in my circle obtain next gen consoles without charging even a dollar over retail. I wholeheartedly agree the prices people are charging are beyond ridiculous, however if someone bought something with their own money and chooses on their own free will to be a jerk, that's on them and I personally don't think the government should be involved in that.

Obviously I'm strictly talking about gaming consoles, there are many scenarios where state involvement is completely warrented I just don't feel this is one.

I hope you find one and it becomes easier for us all in the future, take care.

@AnitaTsushima @nomither6 They’re a bot. I’d stake my life on that being an AI generated story in order to advertise the lawyers.

@nomither6 They’re getting more sophisticated for sure. It’s harder to tell than it once was.

@nessisonett @nomither6 I did wonder that, and looking at its previous posts most of them had web links to random sites with tenuous links to the subject of the thread. 9/10 tins of spam for effort.
