I have been waiting for our local CEX to get a copy but haven't had any luck, I noticed it knocked down to £19.99 in the PlayStation store I couldn't resist, a couple of hours in and its as good as the review says -
I've been meaning to play this for an age, as it was with PS Plus yonks ago. I liked the first game more than most and seeing that the announcement of third game has been leaked, I may just play this sooner than I thought.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@Ulverstonian Oh I'm still on the fence about this one. Liked the first one, but I would want the sequel to be significantly better than the first game. Some games you want the sequel to be just more of the same, but A Plague Tale would have to deliver a bit more than that to stand out.
I searched to see if i needed to play the first before Requiem and most forums said its better to but not necessary.
Watch the video (bottom of post) from 15 seconds in he discussed the difference between the two games he is right when he says ridiculous quantities.
I don't normally like stealth type games but this is great i would have normally hated the fact you cannot easily kill every guard you sneak up on in the long grass so you have to be careful in those situations, once you get to the point you can put out their torches with your sling it gets a little easier but of course you risk alerting other guards by making a noise.

If you are on the fence about buying it at £19:99 i would say get it.
@Ulverstonian I already have it on PS Plus. I would always reccomend playing the first game if possible, especially as in this case it is not long to get through. If you are happy to watch a recap on Youtube or something, then that is fine, but I think you are obviously missing out all the interactions you get by playing a game.

The reviews said you don't need to play the first it will not effect how the second game plays but if you do it'll help with background info on the characters, at no point so far have i wondered what they are taking about i am happy with my decision.

Why am i missing out?

@Jimmer-jammer I was surprised reading the comments section on the article about the announcement of the third game — most people seem to have liked the first game better. I really liked both but I agree that the second game improves on many aspects of the gameplay and it has improved visuals and overall polish, imo. I don’t know if it was quite a jump as I felt from UC1 to UC2, but maybe from TLoU1 to TLoU2. 😄
I will say the story in the first game started better but it went a little off the rails at the end. The second game is more consistent throughout in the narrative department.
@JohnnyShoulder@Herculean It’s an easy recommend if you liked the first game. It’s not drastically different, but I think it does a decent job improving on many aspects of the first. And as a bonus, Hugo is less annoying in the second one, iirc. 😂
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
@Ulverstonian Lol, I seem to remember him to be a bit more whiney in the first one, but he still can be a rascal in Requiem too. Amecia has a lot of patience with him. 😅

I wish i had £1 for every time he says Aaaammmmeeecccciiiaa
@Th3solution Building off of Innocence and establishing its rhythm early, the scenario design in Requiem was all around much more satisfying. I’m quite curious to see what they do with the third here as it seems to be more of a spinoff!
I am glad i jumped in on the second i know some have and will say i missed out but i honestly haven't thought about the first game in the few hours i have put in so far.
Do you know when the third is likely to go on sale?
@Ulverstonian@Jimmer-jammer I don’t think the third game has a release date yet. The teaser was quite short, so I actually doubt it’s going to be coming any time soon.
Unless I missed it, the teaser also didn’t show any rats, which is the main unique gameplay hook that the two games brought to the table. So I wonder if there will still be hoards of rats and they just didn’t show them, or if they are going for a whole new approach.
Edit: Oops… I had forgotten — the teaser does say to expect the game in 2026, so that gives us a rough idea.
A quick heads up, i am 50% in and still enjoying the game, some sections (puzzles) have been hard going and i have had to resort to guides to progress but most are fairly straight forward and its satisfying working out how to get across a rat infested floor to reach the next beacon or fire and safety.
