@colonelkilgore Good to hear Man of Medan was worth your time. I hear the Dark Pictures series gets better with each installment, so that bodes well for you going forward as MoM is apparently the weakest one. I still have it and the second one in my backlog, along with The Quarry.
What was your time to completion and time to plat?

@Th3solution I’d say it was ‘roughly’ around 20 - 25 hours… took 5 playthroughs, which could’ve easily been more if I wasn’t able to kill multiple birds with single stones. Was real interesting how even the smallest of different choices changed things up in the narrative.

Edit. time to completion on first playthrough was maybe around 6-7 hours… but my quickest playthrough (playthrough 3 of 5) was maybe under 3 hours.

@colonelkilgore 6-7 hours sounds good. The commitment to get the platinum is likely more than my capacity

@colonelkilgore Well done on MoM, that game is on my list although I'm getting to the point where I've got that many games that I need to stop trying to complete everything and separate the wheat from the chaff. Did you have any problems? I read that the coop mode is a bit buggy.

I would ordinarily not post about someone else's trophy achievements but shout out to my girlfriend who got the Like A Dragon Ishin platinum last night. I'm playing that game and on my way to the platinum and lemme tell you guys, even for a Yakuza game, this one is out of control.

@CaptD cheers bud, the only glitch my co-op partner and I experienced was a couple of collectibles not registering for the other player when collected (which was a bit annoying tbh)… but we made sure to play the co-op playthrough in one sitting to avoid the possibility that the invited player not getting the co-op completion trophy. If you do decide to go for it and need a co-op partner, let me know 👍.

Congrats to @missuscalmc also

Congrats to John's better half, a Yakuza platinum is quite an achievement.

Nice one @colonelkilgore
Glad it wasn't too much of a drag for you

@Th3solution @CaptD
Same, I played through it but was happy to leave it at that. I'd definitely place it more in the chaff category so was just good with completing it and moving on, didn't have the appetite or enthusiasm to go for the plat on that one.... And I have to convince myself that sometimes that's ok (still working on this!)

“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”

Th3solution

@sorteddan How about the other Dark Pictures anthology? Have you played Little Hope and the others? Or also The Quarry? (In my mind that game feels like it should be Dark Pictures Anthology Part 5)
If so how would you compare them as far as overall game experience and also trophy hunting potential?

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”

sorteddan

@Th3solution can't help you there as I haven't played or got access any of the others. I did play (and plat) Until Dawn many years ago and remember really enjoying that one though.

Th3solution

@sorteddan Ok, no problem. Just curious. I have access to MoM, Little Hope, and now The Quarry all on PS+Extra. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending how you look at it) House of Ashes and The Devil in Me are supposedly the best of the lot. But my obsessive-compulsive tendencies make me reluctant to skip the first 2 entries, especially since they are “free”.

@Th3solution
Then go for it. I didn't mean to suggest Man of Medan was a bad game, it's not - I enjoyed it. Just not to the extent I would do it five times!

graymamba

@Th3solution @sorteddan after playing through it the once, I really didn’t fancy subsequent playthroughs myself but I’d promised someone that I’d playthrough it with him in co-op… so did so and thought the co-op aspect really added a lot to the experience. Then there was a playthrough where you play using different characters than your other playthroughs. I honestly found the game going up in my estimation the more I played it in fairness.

Ping.... Ghost of a tale on PS++ (marked as leaving soon, exact date not known).
This has been on my watch list for a while but was put off by reports of various bugs, thankfully I didn't have any problems.
A stealth game although stealth becomes mostly irrelevant about an hour in, feels quite similar to Styx (pretty good stealth games which were on ps+) however unlike Styx your combat and various abilities are quite limited. Elevated by characters and story but Styx is better gameplay wise.
3.5/10 difficulty wise and a nice trophy list although a quick scan of a trophy guide is advised before starting, just to ensure you know what you can't do. About 15 hours to plat.

Congrats @CaptD, been rattling them in at quite the pace this year… kudos!

Platinum #128 - PGA Tour 2K21 - I have a proper soft spot for golf games and this one was real decent. Will look to pick up PGA Tour 2K23 to play for next years golf game as a result of enjoying it quite a bit.

BearsEatBeets

@CaptD @colonelkilgore well done, you're both platinum popping machines.

I really enjoyed PGA Tour 2K21 too. It was one I hadn't planned on probably getting the Plat for but enjoyed enough to go for the tougher ones. It's crazy that the legend difficulty trophy which is probably the hardest is just a bronze.

I'm still going with Just Cause 3, it's flittering between fun and frustration but playing it in short sessions helps. I won't be going for the platinum though, that's for sure, no way am I going for 5 gears in all those challenges.

@BearsEatBeets well, glad to hear that you’re enjoying Just Cause 3 a bit more than you were at least… and yeah some of those 5 Gear challenges can be tough. I loved them… but I’m quickly learning that I’m a glutton for punishment 😅.

@RogerRoger congrats on getting your Gotham Knights percentage back up to perfection, sounds like it was a decent challenge too 👍

@colonelkilgore @sorteddan @BearsEatBeets @Thrillho @Cornaboyzzz I can't believe I've missed so much action on here so congrats to all you guys on your plats and in some cases multiples. Also congrats to your other half @johncalmc, that's a hard graft of a platinum right there.

Still none from me for a while but looking forward to getting into the thick of Zombie Army 4 now

#349 The Callisto Protocol - A little bit more than just a Dead Space clone, even if it has similarities. But the combat is very interesting. A short game with a bit of challenge in Max difficulty.

And #350 will have to wait a bit since I'm going on a business trip for the next 5 weeks, so we'll see !
