PS4 Pro with a 4K display: 4K resolution and graphical improvements.

PS4 Pro with a 1080p display: Includes all of the graphical features available on the original PS4, and also includes the following graphical enhancements: Ambient occlusion, Water reflections, Improved shadow fidelity.

Fallout 4
PS4 Pro with a 4K display: Bethesda said it expects the game to "take advantage of the PS4 Pro in 4K along with enhanced lighting and graphics features," but didn't provide any further specifics.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
PS4 Pro with a 1080p display: Super sampling anti-aliasing.

NBA 2K17
PS4 Pro with a 4K display: Native 4K resolution running at 60 FPS with HDR support.
PS4 Pro with a 1080p display: 2K confirmed that it will still render a 4K resolution even on a 1080p display. The company said this should result in "much better anti-aliasing" with HDR support.

Mantis Pro Racing
PS4 Pro with a 4K display: Native 4K resolution running at 60fps. 4 player Split-screen - each at a full 1080p (although drops to 30fps if 4players are playing split-screen)
PS4 Pro with a 1080p display: A super-sampled version of the 4K output, downscaled to full HD

Paragon
PS4 Pro with a 1080p display: Enhanced visual effects, procedural ground cover, higher scene complexity, greater texture fidelity, and dynamic reflections.

Thumper
PS4 Pro with a 4K display: 4K resolution with no upscaling. PlayStation VR will see improved rendering quality at the same 90 FPS as the regular PS4.

The Witness
PS4 Pro with a 4K display: 1440p resolution or possibly higher upscaled to 4K with a consistent 60 FPS. Text, menus, and other UI will be set at native 4K.
PS4 Pro with a 1080p display: 1080p resolution instead of 900p and increased anti-aliasing quality from 2x to 4x MSAA, while keeping a solid 60 FPS.

Killing Floor 2
PS4 Pro with a 4K display: Resolution of 3200×1800, and will utilise checkerboard rendering to reach a 4K resolution on 4K TVs. Texture resolution and will be comparable to the PC’s Ultra setting
PS4 Pro with a 1080p display: The game will offer a supersampled experience, with a higher frame-rate target.

Rise of the Tomb Raider
PS4 Pro with a 4K display: Enhanced resolution
PS4 Pro with a 1080p display: High Visual 30fps mode, Unlocked frame rate mode - up to 60fps

Crystal Dynamics’ Scott Amos explained the three modes in Rise of the Tomb Raider in an interview:

You can go for a high frame rate – so if you’re going at 1080p on a PS4 Pro you can run with an unlocked frame rate. So instead of being just at 30 you can run north of 45 frames or better. It’s one of those things that, when you start playing it, it’s great for those speed runners and those hardcore gamers who are just like ‘I want to get through this as quick as I can, I want seamless controls’.

Then you’re like… this is a beautiful area, I want to take a closer look, you can slide over a notch and now we have enhanced visuals. That’s actually 1080p locked at 30 frames but we throw everything in that we can – lighting, multi-pass rendering, texture shading, reflections, density of pixels, density of particle effects… everything we can turn on. It’s just this beautiful-looking experience at a locked 1080p, 30 frames.

Then you go to 4K. Suddenly there’s things in the world that with this ratchet up in crispness and clarity that you just couldn’t see before. Something on the horizon that used to be a blob of kind of grey shadow on the hillside is now a very crisp outline of a ruin with a cross on top of it. It has some sunlight poking through a hole and trees way off in the distance, and you honestly couldn’t have seen that before, it would’ve just faded off and dropped to a low resolution – but now you can see it. That does have this ratcheting effect on the immersion and on the ‘oh my god, I’m actually there’ experience.

Games not getting Pro support
Destiny: Rise of Iron
The Witcher 3

Destiny will not be among the games to receive a patch for the PlayStation 4 Pro version when the console launches in November, though Bungie hasn't been ruled out for the future.

Game details added after 18/10/16

Outlast 2
Will have higher shadow quality, higher quality texture filtering and more detailed meshes. That’s what they have so far, but they’re still working on some improvements.

Titanfall 2
Increased resolution, high-res shadows, and maybe higher particle counts. The frame rate is more stable; like all consoles it will have dynamic resolution scaling, but it scales down less often on PS4 Pro to maintain 60fps.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

The thought of Uncharted 4 looking "better" than it all ready does boggles my mind. That said Skyrim: Special Edition is the game I'm most excited to play on Pro from that list.

I'm hoping that XCOM's performance/loading issues are helped by the pro, although its unclear how much of it is HDD bound vs something else.

Didn't fallout 4 specifically have fog issues where they had to reduce graphics quality in order to fix performance? or was that only on x1? Either way pro could help with that sort of thing.

Note, some of those may be on sale.... like Fallout 4 is 50% off this week in NA.

@Mega-Gazz: They removed the Fog from the PS4 version but the Pro no doubt would make a difference. Its the same with the Witcher 3 too - although not getting a 'Pro' update, It should run a lot more smoothly with no frame drops - even in the 'foggy' bog areas which were notorious for issues.

Nice thread! I cannot wait to see FFXV running on the Pro. I'm hoping The Last Guardian gets the Pro treatment as well (I have a hard time believing it wont)

To save our Mother Earth from any alien attack
From vicious giant insects who have once again come back
We'll unleash all our forces we won't cut them any slack
The EDF deploys!!

Bread-Not-Toast

Deus Ex really does run quite poorly on the PS4, so hopefully with the Pro it'll play properly.

@PlaytendoGuy:
Have to agree with you there. I'm a big fan of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, it's one of my top 3 games this year, but there are times when the slow down is absolutely horrendous.

@NathanUC: Polygon have a 'first fifteen hours' spoiler-free pre-review of FFXV, running on standard hardware (it's edited, and lasts about an hour). Looks OK, but not spectacular, so I agree - hope the Pro brings more to the table for it.

@Drawfull: I'm trying my best to go in super fresh, so I haven't watched the previews. I just know that the demos weren't nearly as smooth as I'd like (even if 'it doesn't matter' in an RPG).

Titanfall 2 developers, Respawn, have confirmed that Pro Support won't be 'patched' in to the game as its already included support on Disc.

What this specifically enhances, as far as details go but Executive producer Drew McCoy did offer a few bits of info about the enhancements, the process and the Pro in general...

“It’s a PS4 that’s faster. We’re able to increase the resolution, we have high-res shadows, and maybe higher particle counts. The frame rate is more stable; we have dynamic resolution scaling on all consoles, but it scales down less often on PS4 Pro to maintain 60 frames-per-second.”

“We did not get much of a heads up, like most people, so we didn’t get a tonne of time. Like no one even knew about it until….I don’t even know, but it was late. Since it’s just the PS4, but faster, it’s really not that hard to say ‘when running on PS4 do this, and when running on PS4 Pro do that.’

“Because we also made the PC version, we have some nobs we can tweak, so we just spent some time making sure it still runs well and looks good on PS4 Pro. You know, making sure it doesn’t look any worse at all. That’s the requirement: it can’t run any worse or look worse than on PS4. So it runs better, looks better and has no bugs on PS4 Pro.

“We definitely wanted it to be [on PS4 Pro]. When you’re making a AAA game, you want to be seen as a AAA game, and what kind of big budget game is not going to be seen on PS4 Pro? You really want to be up there. So when Sony did the unveiling, we just weren’t ready to have something to show yet. I was on phone calls with them, but the schedules didn’t line up.”

@Thesnipergecko: Updated the list. The info is a bit vague on what specifically will be enhanced - other than it uses a down-sampled version for 1080p TV's. Until I find out more on the actual level of enhancement, (resolution, graphical settings/improvements, frame rates), the down-sampled version is almost meaningless.

AH so excited! but... I uh just old my PS4 so now I have a week without it! My tv doesn't support 4k or UHD, but I'm hoping to fix that sometime next year.

My big debate is on which hard drive I want to throw in the Pro. My standard PS4 has a 7,200rpm 1tb drive, so I really don't want to go back to 5,400rpm, but I think space is more important on the Pro (larger screenshots/videos). Even with 1tb on my standard, I was running out of space all the time.

A 2tb drive is cheap, but I'd be back at 5,400rpm. If I wait a bit, the newer 7mm 2tb hybrid drives will be easier to find at only a bit more $, but then I'll have to deal with formatting and all that again.

In terms of games, FFXV is really what I'm looking forward to, but maybe I'll go back and finish Ratchet and Clank with it's patch.
