Topic: Overwatch-esque shooters?

Me and my friends are getting fed up of Overwatch and maybe a bit bored as we’ve been playing nearly since the launch. I know it’s been broken for a wee while but recently the glitches, the matchmaking means we either win too easily or lose too easily, never in between and it’s just not the same anymore which is a shame.

Is there any other online shooter that we can play that is a bit like Overwatch in terms of different heroes, different abilities on the PS4? We’ve never been fans of games like Call of Duty, like wartime shooters.

We also used to play a lot of Halo and Destiny 2 before we encountered OW. We’ve heard about Anthem but heard it’s not so great? I don’t mind if it’s co-op or team battles. Just something we can play online while in lockdown. Thanks!

Well you've got the obvious choice of Paladins which is literally a direct rip, kind of like the cheap, free to play version of OW.

OW is fairly unique in that it's a FPS based MOBA which isn't a standard model for a lot of games, due to the complexities of the gameplay style.

If you're looking for a strategy based shooting team based game, Rainbow Six Siege is always a good shout.

Anthem is more like Destiny then Overwatch, which from the sound of it you enjoyed Destiny 2.

If you are looking for something like Overwatch then Paladins would be your best bet. You can also look into Smite as is a MOBA in a first person view. Best thing both games are free.

There was Battleborn which I played the beta of and enjoyed but it launched at the same time as Overwatch and flopped massively. It had missions as well as PvP.

You must be able to pick the game up dirt cheap but I don’t know how long the servers will be going for (if they still are).

@grahamd It won't come to PS it's published by Xbox Game Studios so it's an exclusive.

@Thrillho Battleborn is scheduled to shutdown February 2021. It's already been delisted from digital stores like PSN, Steam, MS Store etc. and even in game purchases have been removed. You can still play it but you'd probably have to find a used copy at GameStop or something and even then you have less then a year to play it.
