@Frigate oh yeah, I got SC6 shortly after release and I liked it quite a bit. I’m not much of a fighter aficionado so I like how the gameplay is approachable for button mashers and experts alike. The characters are great in the base game, the modes provide quite a bit of content between the Libra of Souls and Chronicle of the Soul separate story modes, each has their own little nuance. I wish the story modes had more proper cutscenes rather than the static artwork and narration style of story telling though. The character creation was a lot of fun just goofing around with and you use a custom created character for the Libra of Soul storyline. I played a little online too, but can’t comment on how good that is since I am pretty bad at these fighting games.
As far as the Season Pass is concerned, I can’t speak to it since I didn’t get it. I would have loved to play as 2B and Tira though. I’m annoyed they kept these characters behind a 2nd paywall. But all these fighting games do it, so, what are ya gonna do?[shrug] At the end of the day, the gameplay is satisfying and it will keep you busy for a long time either way, but if the Season Pass is cheap I would go for it. Maybe @themcnoisy has an opinion, I know he played a lot of it but not sure if he has the Pass.
Shortly after SC6, I played Injustice 2 because it must have motivated me to play more fighters. I think I liked Injustice 2 even more. For a ballpark assessment, maybe 8/10 for I2 and 7/10 for SC6. Probably having the Legendary Edition with all the DLC characters helped boost my opinion of I2 even higher because Starfire became my most played character.

Edit: @JohnnyShoulder beat me to it, but I expect Noisy will chime in. 😛

@JohnnyShoulder cheers bro.

@Frigate The base game is enough mate. Its great. I would just buy that. The season pass when I had the game was not good value for money - only Amy (whom you fight against in the campaign anyway) and 2b were added.

@Th3solution Missed your own reply when I was typing. Very good summary. What is the ace in the pack is the campaign mode - yes the story is pretty stupid but with 15 hours of content and hundreds of fights, levelling, dead hard boss fights and side missions it is perfect from a gameplay perspective (as long as you skip the actual cutscenes). It starts too easy but don't let that put you off - you will meet your match at some point.

One thing - I dislike the Mortal kombat gameplay, I am really unsure why exactly (maybe the lifelike graphics but juddery gameplay which sticks my brain right in uncanny valley) but SC6 really does it for me. I am extremely competitive online which is weird as I get battered at everything else (bar Rockstar Table Tennis). The new additions are fun and Talim, Ivy and the new emo guy whos name I have forgotten are beast mode.

It's a biased 9/10 as a lifelong SC fan, missing 10 by a long stretch but as a recommendation - if you like any earlier Soul Calibur games in any way it's a must buy.

@ellsworth004 get it! I am still to play Tekken on the PS4. However I will do you a deal and buy Tekken if you buy SC6.

@ellsworth004 I personally prefer SC, more blocking and parrying style. But they are both very good by all accounts.

I would love to get both Tekken 7 and Soul Calibur 6 but unfortunately, BANDAI NAMCO has chosen to release it only in Chinese/Korean in Hong Kong which is silly.

So i picked up sekiro, pretty hard so far. Im a huge fan of souls games but the combat is so much different. Anyone have any tips that might help me get my head around this combat system? I understand the basics, parry, hit, repeat to break their guard, but im still pretty terrible.

@ellsworth004 I also picked up Sekiro but haven't played very much of it (tackling RDR2 at the moment). Something I didn't realize until after I got killed a bunch of times is that you have to "lock-on" to enemies by pressing R3. This is especially important when dealing with multiple fighters so the system knows who you're attacking. You're otherwise swinging and missing a lot. (Not sure if Bloodborne or Dark Souls are similar as I've not played either). I can't remember if I've played a game with this type of system before. Usually you just use the thumb stick to point in the direction of your attack. I think the process of parry, hit, repeat is more about getting used to the timing of the sequence and of the various fighters.

JohnnyShoulder

@ellsworth004 Don't play it like a Darks Souls game, get those bad habits out of your system cos the combat in Sekiro is a different beast.

Head over to the thread https://www.pushsquare.com/forums/ps4/sekiro_shadows_die_twic... as there are lot of beginners tips there from page 2. Feel free to @ me if you have any questions.

Everyone has there different strengths in how they play the game, but if you can learn how to deflect attacks that will be key to winning at this game. It took me a few hours for it to totally to click. It may seem at the start that it is throwing mini boss after mini boss at you, but it does calm down later when it opens up.

@klky If you flick the right stick you can switch between different enemies.

I also reccomend doing all the training with the dude that can't die as that will teach you the basics.

@ellsworth004 Enjoy the freedom that comes with not losing your souls/echoes when you die. Yes you lose a few points of XP but they can be easily regained later. Aside from the Dragonrot (which is a non-issue, honestly) there's no real penalty for dying. This lets you go for it a little bit. You can hammer some enemies into submission just by really going aggro on them, I've been surprised how often that has worked for me.

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

@Gremio108 seems hard when you are facing 3 or more enemies at once. But i think im starting to get the hang of it, fun game.

@ellsworth004 Stealth kill them with they go on their separate paths. They will only break from their routine if they see you, so use this to your advantage to lure them out. You can use the rooftops to break the line of sight and also use your Loaded Shuriken Prosthetic tool to draw them out. I tried to avoid taking on multiple enemies until I was a lot more confident in combat and only when facing weaker enemies.

If you are close to gaining a skill point I usually did a bit of grinding before facing a boss or harder enemies so as not to lose any xp. Once you have a skill point it is 'banked and you will not lose it, only the xp you've earned toward the next skill point.

I've had to buy a new external hdd for my ps4. The one I've got currently keeps needing to be recovered as it was disconnected (even though it is always plugged into the PS4). This was happening infrequently but now it's happening more often, especially if I put the console in rest mode.

Reading up on it apparently some of these drives are incompatible with some of the features of the console, even though they are advertised that they can be used with the console.

So I have bought one which is specifically for PS4 from Western Digital. Hopefully it will be more reliable than the Seagate one I have at the mo. It was about 20 quid more expensive than a 'non ps4', I'm hoping the extra cost will be worth it.

Th3solution

@JohnnyShoulder How many TB capacity is your old one and also the new one?
I’m wondering if the larger the disc space, the more likely to fail. I have a 2TB Seagate which had thankfully worked fine so far.

I’m crossing my fingers that I can make it to the PS5, although I’m curious - have they said we will be able to transfer over our external storage device to the PS5? That would be nice.

JohnnyShoulder

@Th3solution Both 4TB. You can have up to 8TB, there are no warning signs about any risk using a those size drives. Not seen anything about transfering stuff over to PS5 yet. In theory if it is backwards compatible with all PS4 games, I do not see there being a problem. Unless Sony doing something stupid and change the file format from FAT.

Is there a way to remove application icons like PS NOW, VUE, TV & VIDEO, PLAYROOM from my XMB dashboard? I rebuilt my PS4's database and now they're on my XMB dashboard.

Huntin' monsters erryday.

@WanderingBullet I put them all in a folder and name it “Detritus”
