@Th3solution He forgets things like names of people and stuff quite easily and gets them muddled up at times. Farout 5? Battleforce 1? Elite Sniper 4? That Nathan Drake game but without him in it was my fave! đ
I think he enjoyed the first RDR, but I think there are too many mechanics at play for him in the second game. He might enjoy it up to to a point but will probs get overwhelmed by it. What has read and seen of it, he doesn't like the sound of it. Yeah he has played all of the MGS games (more than me I think), he has played MGS V but didn't get that far into it. He doesn't like anything cartoony or anything puzzle based either. Borderlands he has enjoyed in the past so the third game he will probably get. He only buys games 2nd hand, trading in his old games so there is another restriction. The only new games he gets are for his birthday and Xmas, even if they are not from me I always end up getting the as the rest of my fam don't know what he likes or what he played. He doesn't do anything digitally either, even when I have bought GOTY editions unless the content is baked into the main game will most likely not realise there is extra content to play.
HZD he really enjoyed, but he had to play it on the easy mode as he didn't understand the crafting and levelling up. On his second play through it was on a higher difficulty and found he understood the crafting and levelling up a bit better. The Assassins Creeds he has enjoyed but did get a bit fed up with them after Black Flag (was that Unity or Syndicate?). But he liked Orgins but again struggled with the openness and the levelling up. He was basically getting destroyed by the higher levelled enemies cos he had totally ignored most of the levelling up! 𤣠So Origins might be a good one to get especially as it is a decent price these days.

@JohnnyShoulder Haha! âThat Nathan Drake game but without him in itâ = Uncharted Lost Legacy, I presume. Thatâs hilarious. đ
Well your dad sounds like a cool guy. And an interesting case study of the older hard core gamer.

@Th3solution Yeah got it one. There is some puzzle solving involved at times trying to decipher his memory banks. "You know that game you showed six months ago with a bloke shootings things, can you remember what is was called"
Or "Is there going to be another Nathan Drake game?"
"No Dad, I think they have finished with that character for now. You never know though. And the developers are busy making The Last Of Us 2"
"Have I played the first one?"
"Yes Dad. It's the one without Nathan Drake but with zombies and the young girl to look after"

@JohnnyShoulder ive been reading your comments about ur dad playing games, good on you that ur close with him. Me and my dad were super close and i can remember him playing burgertime back in the day. I could never get him to get into newer games, but he loved burgertime. I believe it was on the intellivison. Family is great.
@Thrillho@ellsworth004@RogerRoger Thanks guys. It does feel like I'm playing six degrees of separation from Nathan Drake with him at times.
He does have a natter with his local independent game shop. They have recommended him some dodgy games in the past, but I'm hardly surprised if he describes them in the same way. đ
It can be frustrating as he so forgetful, I'm always repeating myself when I go over. He has a habit of missing updates, even though he has the notification icon with a number of messages not read (which would drive me nuts). He has a system update which hadn't been downloaded or installed for about 4 weeks.

@RogerRoger@JohnnyShoulder Hey, they say keeping your mind active staves off Alzheimerâs disease, and they encourage old people to do puzzles and follow politics to keep exercising the brain. I think video games are the ideal way to work out your mind â problem solving, eye hand coordination, reading, memory work, visual and auditory stimuli .... they have it all.

Colin Moriaty just dropped a big hint on his SCS podcast that Sony has a Remastered game very close to being finished.
"There was one game in particular, a remaster coming out for PlayStation 4, that I thought they [Sony] were going to announce today [at State of Play], but they didn't. I don't know what they are waiting for with that one. Let's just say the soul still burns with that one."
@Th3solution That is literally all he said, apart from chuckling to himself after he said. Your guess is as good as mine, but i think it is highly likely it is Bluepoint.

Is there someone out there who can offer a little advice on MLB The Show? Apologies in advance for almost certainly getting some of the technical lingo wrong too!
I've almost exclusively been playing Road to the Show which has been a good way of getting used to the game (not a fan of the coach moving to centre field though) but have an issue with the running in the game. If I ever make a hit and work my way around the bases off other hits, whenever I make it home, I always seem to get caught for trying to steal base.
The worst example was that I made it to second off my hit. I then made it home off the next hit but it was given as a double play even though I'd made it back way before the ball was thrown to fourth. There were no outs prior to that so I cannot figure out what is going wrong..
@JohnnyShoulder Oddly enough, I was playing Just Cause 4 the other day and wondered why it looked much more vibrant than I remembered. Turns out HDR had been deactivated, either via an update or by myself late last year. The difference was like night and day; with it switched on, it's hideous.
I think it really does depend on who's responsible for implementing HDR support on a game-by-game basis, as well as your own personal preference. As @LN78 states, Horizon and Detroit get the balance spot-on, at least in my experience. Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy were also examples of great HDR support, I thought.
@RogerRoger@LN78 That is good to know guys, as was beginning to think did I really need to wait till ps5 is out to appreciate the improved visuals for gaming that my TV had to offer.
I've still got Uncharted 4 to play so that will give me another reason to play it. Won't be a while yet having just finished Tomb Raider.

@Thrillho when the ball is caught in the outfield the base runner has to run back to the base he was originally on (say second base in your instance) when it is caught and go for the next base at that point. If a catch is likely in the outfield you are best waiting on base until its caught and run like the wind!
If you didn't have this rule in the big leagues you would get a ridiculous amount of runs per game on sacrifice fly balls.
