Topic: Recently bought a Phat 60 GB PS3 for the backwards compatability, however, any time I plug in my PlayStation Gold Headset, the PS3 says something along the lines of max power of USB used. Please unplug one device

Title. That is all I have plugged into the console. I obviously don't want to fry the system. I've wanted a 60 GB PS3 for years. Just to be safe, I bought Sony's official PS3 Powerhub with 4 USB Ports. But the point is, if I didn't have that, would that kill my PS3? Or would it still work? Thanks guys.

@Pringur0 As silicon ages it tends to use more power than it did when it was new. That’s why you have less spare power to run through the USB ports.

I would advise you not to strain the power supply on a retro system by ask it to supply more electric then it’s comfortable with.
