I have got two Playstation systems, a fat version with the Spiderman font, and a super slim one. Now neither of them is working, so I would really appreciate your help.
The fat version with the Spiderman font is totally not responding to anything, even the power supply's red led isn't turning on(the switch on the back is turned on), so even the disk cannot be taken out of the drive.
The super slim version's power supply red led is working, but when I turn the system on(with both power and HDMI cable connected to the system and to the tv), the red led switches to green, and the fans also spin up(everything is correct until now), but no image appears on the screen and about 2-3 seconds later, the fans turn off, and no leds are lighting, and the system turns off (like if the power has been cut). I have to press the power button to light up the red led of the power supply, and if I try it again, the same thing happens.
I tried to open the pre-boot menu but the machine turns itself off before it could be accessed.
It would be very good to fix the issue here because every service is closed.
Not entirely sure but I'd suggest:
1) The PS3 'phat' has a broken power supply - I suspect you can get it repaired or use a dead one off eBay or the like to cannibalise the parts.
2) The Super Slim seems to be displaying the same behaviour as a 'phat' with the YLOD (yellow light of death) although it could also be a power supply issue? Personally I'd try and track down a Slim PS3 (25xx series are best) and just bin the (not so) super slim. You could always try and sell it on eBay for parts?
