I have owned a PS3 for a year now, and I saw on a review from Classic Game Room on Youtube that newer versions still have backwards compatibility with PS1 discs? Is this true?

I knew they cut out PS2 compatibility, but if it really plays PS1 discs.... Have a PS3 Slim 320 gig btw.

All PS1 discs (region lock still holds) should work in any PS3.

Most of the time you can pick up PS1 games cheaper on ebay than on PSN too.

Awesome, and thanks! This made my day.

Maybe, but only a scant few PS1 games survive the upscale on a HD TV.
Most of my shmups were OK, but R-Type Delta is a muddy mess!
