What do your friends have mainly is the first question you need to ask yourself. You are going to want to play online with your friends and that is the first console you need to purchase!

Agreed. You can't go wrong with either, now that the 360's hardware has caught up, so I say get what your friends got, especially if they have games you know you'd play together.

I'd say this too, definitely. In a world where online gaming is king and local multiplayer is near nonexistent, it's no longer the advantage it once was to have the console your friend didn't have, so you could each play different things at each other's houses. Second, look at the types of games offered. Sony has a bigger variety of game types at retail than Microsoft if you don't consider Kinect/Move. If you're very interested in Kinect/Move, I'd get Move first since it has a bigger variety of games now than Kinect does by a long shot. Look at what YOU'D like to play though and choose accordingly. If you're planning on getting them both anyways eventually, it doesn't matter too much though.
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
yeah all my friends have the xbox360 except for a few and i'm willing to pay for online experience but not to be thrilled. i would rather spend that money on games mostly because they are or soon to be $60 for gold.
@Danschemen.... You really cant go wrong with PS3. There are very few games that are exclusive to X360 now and a lot of exclusives to PS3 that are great games. The "Collection" series that are now releasing are just fantastic and the Free Online and Playstation Home are both great options.
Playstation Move is fantastic and if your planning on going into HD Motion Control that could be a factor in your decision. Kinect is showing that its pushing the casual route rull force and made a statement last week that there intentions with Kinect is for the casual market primarily. Move has already shown that its got a great appeal to core gamers and will continue that trend. Im by no means console bashing, its just my opinion from what Ive read and seen.
Its a hard choice. I actually let X360 go myself, and I do kinda regret it now that Kinect is out, I have so little time for another system as I cant keep up with everything I want to play on PS3 as it is.

Heh everyone I know has a 360 IRL, but that didn't stop me one bit for sacrificing all the great exclusives the PS3 offers over the other. The PS3 just has everything I want compared to the x360, and I don't see one advantage the 360 has over it. And wow this this thread is old
Both consoles have great overall libraries but at this point go with PS3, Sony is a much, much better gaming company than MS is. Each machine will get the big third party games but the difference comes in the fact that Sony still has some top notch exclusives on the way like LBP Karting, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, PS All-Stars Battle Royale, Beyond: Two Souls and, of course, the phenomenal looking The Last of Us. MS has another Halo, another Forza and another Gears and you have to pay to play online... yay. I still buy some games for my 360, like Transformers I just got because I like the controller better for shooters but if I were a new buyer and looking into both consoles I'd go with PS3 without even thinking about it.
I'd say PS3. More exclusives, free online, PS1 and PS2 games. I think lack of exclusives and paid online is what turns me away from the 360. The only things I want for it are Banjo Kazooie HD, Banjo Tooie HD, Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, Super Meat Boy and Fez.
Strange how on a Playstation site everyone thinks it should be a PS3 Of course I agree, but I will say the controller is a big consideration. I actually prefer the 360 controller (for analog placement, not the shitty d-pad), but it was not enough to draw me away from all the benefits of owning a PS3 such as first party titles and blu-ray. If anyone is considering a Vita the of course the PS3 is a no-brainer.
