Topic: Sony, please let us completely deactive the Mic on the controller.

The Microphone on the PS5 controller is Sony's worst idea. It sounds like a muffled mess. You always get that online player that forgets to turn it off and you hear the noises from their home. People mumbling in and out. The sound of plates in the kichen and babies crying. There's an option to turn it off automatically when the PS5 starts, but then sometimes you get people forgetting to press off the yellow button on the controller and they thought all that time you could hear them on their headset. I've had so many times players online tell me, I thought I was talking to you, but I forgot to unmute. SMH. Yes, Sony linked the Mic controller to the Headset. Toggling off the Mic controller, also toggles off your Headset. Sony should update the PS5 with a patch that gives you the option to permanently turn off the Mic on the controller, as if the controller has no Mic at all. If you want to talk you just use your Headset. Because it's not like the Mic on the controller even works well. It sounds so bad that the whole idea is pointless to have a Mic on a game controller. This is the only thing I don't like about the PS5, other than that I love the console!

To turn off the PS5 controller mic,
press the dedicated mute button on the controller, which will cause an orange light to appear. For a permanent setting, go to Settings > Sound > Microphone and change "Microphone Status When Logged In" to "Mute"

I wish the PS5's microphone was OFF by default because hearing people chew their microphones and blast music down their headset on Battlefield 6 really annoys me and it leads me to just muting them.

Muting the microphone on the controller is literally the first thing I do every time, without fail, after turning my PS5 on. The only reason I wouldn't want it off permanently is because I do play some games with a few folks from these very forums every now and then.

@Kairuuu Honestly, it's only because of this comment that I realize why I hear so many people breathing heavily without ever saying anything when I'm playing online. :')
