Topic: Salvaging PS4 save data from SSD?

My PS4 (original, not PS4 pro) died but I saved the 2.5 inch SSD. None of the data is saved to the cloud because we were game sharing, though I do have PS Plus.

I need to be able to keep the save data on it, so what I was thinking I'd do was put the SSD into my bro's PS4 pro, log into my account as primary on his PS4 pro with my SSD in his system, upload it all to cloud storage, then put his SSD back in and set him as primary again.

My question is, would there be any compatibility issues because he's using a PS4 Pro and my SSD was in a regular ps4? It has the entire OS and save data on it.

I want this data in the cloud because I want to get a PS5 and have my data ready for when I log in on that.

Is it better to just wait to get a PS5 and use an SSD enclosure and plug it into the PS5 and transfer the data that way?

What would be the smartest way to do this?

Or is there an easier way?

Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

@Jcam Unfortunately, according to multiple sources found during a quick Google, what you're proposing won't work, as internal storage is encrypted on an individual console basis. If you try to put an HDD or an SSD from one PlayStation into another, you'll get an error, or be told that you have to reformat the drive (in other words, wipe it clean) in order to use it.

What you can do, however, is access your SSD through a computer, and retrieve all of your game's save data that way. You can then copy it to a USB stick with the correct file paths and transfer it to your brother's PS4 Pro, once you're signed in, and then upload it to PS Plus from there.
