This is a bit of a conundrum, and I can’t wrap my head around it.
I’ve had a PSN account for years with a bunch of content and trophies in it. The profile is ZA region, and Sony are still adamant we can’t change our account region - even though it’s an absolute cinch on Xbox. I now live in the UK and I have a secondary PSN account in this region, which now contains content as well. I want to be able to subscribe to PS+ on the UK account, and access the free games I’ve collected in my ZA account over the years.
Both accounts are on the PS5, both are set as the primary console for that account. If - with a valid PS+ sub on the ZA account - I install a game, I can play it from the UK account profile. When I only have PS+ on my UK account and not my ZA account, I can’t play the ZA games from either account.
tl;dr - is it possible to subscribe to PS+ from my UK account, and access the PS+ collection from my ZA account?
@Ryall Is that strictly true though as if I download a game using my account, which has PS+, then the other accounts on my system can still play those games and they don't have PS+?
NOTE: Ah maybe you are right and it is because they are in a different region as all my accounts are UK ones.
Yeh, this is what I was worried about. I did some testing last night - I currently only have a sub on my UK secondary account. I downloaded a game I’d claimed on both accounts, and I could play it on my ZA account without an active sub.
My only real concern is stuff like FF7 Remake which I’d claimed on the ZA account which I’m still playing through. Who knows, perhaps this won’t be an issue once the new Premium service drops
So, I’m back here again.
The new PS+ tiers have launched and - as luck would have it - FF7 Remake is included (again)!
I had already claimed the game in my ZA account PS+ months prior to this. I signed up using my secondary UK PSN account, claimed the game. Lo and behold I can’t play it on my primary ZA account.
Console Sharing and Offline Play are enabled in both accounts on the console. I tested by disabling it on one account and not the other (and vice versa), no change.
I signed up for a month on my ZA account prior to this, and I could claim, download and play all the games to my hearts content on the UK account (which didn’t have a subscription). Once that expired, I signed up on my UK account, and I can’t play any of the games on my primary ZA account.
I tried removing both accounts from the console, signing in with the UK account first and then the ZA account - no change.
Am I crazy? Tell me I’m crazy. What am I doing wrong?
