I desperately need some help.
If you are a hasty reader, or a snarky personality, please stop
reading right now.

I am using a Win 10 PC and a Sony duoshock controller with usb cable. I'm accessing the Sony PS Now service, and trying
to play a game called "The Last of Us".

What I want and need is to remap the controls. Remember, I'm using a PC, not a playstation.
The issue is this. The joysticks are horrible for me. I'm used to playing games that used the up/down left/right buttons
to control movement. That is how I want to move inside the game.

You know how to drive a car.....now suppose you were sold a car that forces you to steer with your feet and shift with
your tongue. Not natural. At all.

This game is going to call for super fast actions in panic situations. Movement has to
be perfectly intuitive.

The left joystick moves you forward or backward, but it won't let you turn left or right, and it won't let you
turn to face the opposite direction. That is CRUCIAL as you will often want to turn and run away!
To turn, you have to use the Right joystick....which wobbles around all over the place, leaving you often
looking up at the ceiling. It just feels super WRONG.

I went to a huge amount of trouble to set this up. Bought a special controller. Installing PS Now was a nightmare,
just to play this game, because I love the zombie survival theme. This is a gut wrenching disappointment.
Also amazingly strange that there is nothing inside the game that tells you which buttons do which things!

To compare.....I had a Playstation One console, and loved the games Resident Evil and Dino Crisis. The controls felt t
ten trillion percent intuitive, IMMERSIVE. Later, I owned a PC and bought some much later chapter
of Resident Evil. I literally threw it in the trash, because the controls were like this.....you couldn't
stop the camera from going up to the ceiling, you couldn't stay "locked in" intuitively.

Don't reply, "get used to it". If I told you to get used to eating with your feet, you wouldn't like it.

In a panic, I like to use my strong hands / thumbs to FORCEFULLY mash the up/down direction pad,
not have to delicately nudge the right joystick........joysticks, like mousepads, are TOTALLY NONINTUITIVE.
Some of us gamers are OLD people. I am FIFTY NINE.......at the very least, make the device mapable.

Unless there is an option in the option menu to remap the controls then I don't think you can. Most games use the analog sticks to move and look around and the Dpad as ways to access items etc. I don't think you can remap movement to the Dpad.

@bearcat44 Yes - I'm afraid @Genrou is correct. This will only be an ingame option and will be under controls. You can sometimes invert controls and the axis, which will often make it closer to older games (I remember most games in the 90's had inverted controls but at some time they switched and it is common to be able to map these).

However, swapping between the left and right stick or locking the view is a bit of a feature of third person games like The Last Of Us. This wouldn't really be possible with the D-Pad.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

@bearcat44 put y axis inverted controls on. I play inverted and my head finds it easier. The vast majority of 3d games I played initially were on PC - Quake, Unreal, Medal of Honour Allied Assault etc. From there inverted has always been easier to manage coming from the older PC games.

Controls are difficult and it's easy for your initial gambit to be written off, most of us here are used to gaming in this fashion (2 sticks, triggers to shoot etc) However when trying to teach my daughter how to play Lego worlds or Goat simulator it's a nightmare.

@bearcat44 My dad is 72 and whenever he struggles with a game he starts off on easy difficulty to learn the basics. It is something you do get used to the more you play though. Once he has gotten used to everything he then increases the difficulty. If you are forcing things and getting into a panic you may just have to accept the game is not for you. My dad has given up on games like God of War as he just did get along with it, and rather then playing it and not enjoying the experience, he just moved on to another game.

There is a way to remap the controller buttons on a PS4. This will do it on a system level however so will change how the buttons works for the whole console and not just the game. Not sure if this is available on PS NOW on PC however.

@bearcat44 Most games use that control scheme, so it's best to get used to it.

But if you want to map your buttons on PS Now, you may want to look into InputMapper. I've read that it works with PS Now, but it is a bit clunky, as you you have remap the buttons before booting up PS Now, and you cannot disconnect the controller when playing, as you have to restart both if you want to continue.
