Topic: PS4 Pro Causing Lights In Apartment To Flicker

Hi everybody,

every time I start my PS4 Pro lately, it causes all lights (!) in my apartment to flicker. The AVR and the TV will restart every time the PS4 needs juice (loading games etc.). The PS4 Pro has been causing this issue without any apparent reason: It hasn't fallen on the ground, it hasn't been in contact with water, it hasn't been shutdown the wrong way, etc.

I guess it's safe to say there's something wrong with the machine's power supply. I don't want to start my Playstation anymore, because that might harm other electronical devices in my apartment.

My questions:
1. Has anybody encountered a similar problem? I've searched the internet but couldn't find reports of similar cases.
2. How to repair my Playstation? My best guess would be to install a new power supply unit - good idea or nah?
3. I don't have a backup I can't do a standard backup either, because I don't want to start up the console again. Of course, I could switch my HDD into a working PS4 Pro and do the backup, but I don't have a second machine to my disposal. Is there another way to backup my files so that a working PS4 Pro or a PS5 could read my old save games? For example, would it be useful to make an exact copy of the PS4 Pro HDD on an external HDD?

Might not be your PS4. Might be a faulty ground in your plug-in. Easy way to check. Take the console to a different plug in and see if it's still happening. If not, your solution might just be a few bucks at the hardware store, or some patience and some low-grit sandpaper. If you take off the wall socket, make sure you shut off your power first. Don't need any fried gamers on my concience.

Well I'll be damned. I can't reproduce the issue with a different plug in in the same room. I was afraid to check because it could well have caused a fried gamer. Thank God I trusted @LordSteev
