Topic: Ps4 original got electrocuted?

TLDR; Lightning struck the pole my phone and powerline are on and it shut off and broke some stuff, including a tv and the ps4 it was hooked up to. It worked fine before the strike, but now, dispite trying a different tv in a different room with different cords, all of which otherwise work fine, the ps4 in question will turn on, light going from blue to white, charging and apparently syncing with a controller, able to accept disks, but won't display anything of the screen, as if there is some sort of problem with the hdmi. Help?

Like i said, bad storm, lightning struck our pole, phone and internet get shot. I'm using my phone as a hotspot to send this as a matter of fact. Everything else will get taken care of in time, but right now, I want to know if anyone has had experience or knows of anyway to help in a situation like this as it pertains to the ps4. For a bit more context, my household has two ps4s. A ps4 classic in the living room, of which was connected directly to the internet with an ethernet cable that goes to our router in the basement as well as connected to the tv in the room, which, as stated, also seemed to get stuck in the limbo state of unable to turn on and display properly after the strike despite seeming powered. The other is a ps4 slim which was just in the other room, and though similarly connected to the house's power, along with the tv it was connected to, was not connected to an ethernet cable. It is this later ps4 slim which is functioning normally, and has been moved into living room. Though the tv has been switched for a back-up at the moment, both devices are plugged into the same sockets as the previous devices, and the slim is even using the wiring which had been previously attached to the original, at the very least indicating that the issue is not an issue of the power or hdmi cords in use specifically.

For testing, I took the original into the room the slim was in, hooked it up the the confirmed operational tv and playstation power and hdmi cords, and then proceeded to turn on the original. As stated above, the original turns on from blue to white, will start reading the disk in it if there is one, and will generally appear to be functioning as it should, but will not seem to be able to display anything on the tv (No Signal message). I've attempted to start the original into safe mode (hold for second beep on start-up) but attempting to do anything with it is useless when it never properly displays anything on the tv, all that assuming that the system is even booting into safe mode to begin with.

All of this being said, I've a few questions. Firstly, could it be possible that the hdmi port or components of the original in question have been fried or damaged in some way? As I said, the cord it was attached to is functioning perfectly fine, as was the cord it is currently attached to. Also, I don't currently have access the the specific screwdriver needed to remove the security screws inside the device, but would doing so even be advised at this point?

Secondly, I thought I might attempt to see if the original is actually doing anything by trying to connect it to ps remote play with my computer, but I'm at a bit of a roadblock. I have access to the primary account of the ps4 in question, and pretty much everything else good to go for now, but, and I know this probably isn't possible, is there some way to use remote play with a device not registered for it before. By that, I mean that the remote play seems to be unable to locate the ps4 (which I don't blame it for), so it wants a code, which I must get from the ps4 itself. If your'e following where I'm going with this, the whole point of trying remote play was because I can't get anything from the ps4 to display on the tv. What I'm wondering is if there is a way around this, perhaps by using a two-way usb cord to connect the computer I'm using and ps4 in question directly? I have a program which can emulate the controller when used with remote play, though I know not what sort of difference it would make.

In conclusion, I'm getting a little desperate here, and would be extremely appreciative of anyone who can offer advice or point me in the right direction.

@aprotis I've got no idea how to help with regards to remote play on an unregistered PS4, I can't really remember how it works

But you can probably work out if the PS4 is even connected to the network by logging into your router by typing in the routers IP address into the browser on any device connected to it. (Should be able to search "how to log into <insert specific router>" and find the correct address on Google or something like that)

Compare the list of IPs connected to your router with the actual devices connected to it and by process of elimination you should be able to work out if the PS4 is even connected. Like I say I'm not sure.if this will help because I don't know if remote play has to be enabled on the PS4 anyway and I suspect you may need a repair or replacement 🤷‍♂️

See ya!
