Topic: Control dlc not working

Alright, so yesterday I paid $20 for the Control dlc, "Foundation." The dlc is supposedly accessible in-game, so I continued my otherwise finished game, expecting to find it under the "missions" tab. But it's not there.

I have tried everything to address the situation. Deactivate/activate/deactivate/activate PS4 as primary ps4? Check. Restore licenses? Check. Reinstall game? Check. I even transferred my installed game from my external hd to the main console memory and uninstall/reinstalled one more time from there. But nothing works. There is no solution to this nonsensical problem, and as far as I can tell, I am the only human being in the entire free world that has come across this issue.

A check of my game in storage insists that the dlc is in fact installed, but my findings in the in-game world contradict this. Moreover, there is no record of the dlc ever downloading at all from the notifications menu. Even though PSN happily reports that the item is purchased from the store. It's like they're stating "FU Joe Consumer, we've got your money, go piss off now."

I can't even reach anyone from inside Sony because of this pandemic. Seems to me, if a tech company expects any future business from me, the least it could do is cultivate an effective database designed to curtail these problems. But no, when I ask the database for a reference to the solution, I am helpfully reminded of entry-level beginner nonsense on how to install dlc.

I guess I know where I'll be investing my game dollars in the future. And I can tell you, it won't ever be with another Sony product.

I don't think Sony made Control...

Sony only had the marketing deal for Control. 505 games published it and Remedy developed it. Neither company are owned by Sony.

This isn't a problem with Remedy. Do a quick google of downloading problems specifically describing Control and Control dlc. You'll come up with nothing. No results. Not one. Other than perhaps mine.

Now do a quick search of people who have random download problems involving "insert x game here." Suddenly, you have a lot more incidences of reports. The fact is, the game appears in my library despite not appearing in notifications. That it didn't appear in notifications means it did not download. Which means that it is NOT a game glitch, it is a problem relating to the crap way PSN is set up. Sony is at fault. Not Remedy.

Yes because Sony made the game it's their fault. You need to contact Remedy not Sony

The problem is caused by a downloading and storage issue, not by a glitch in the dlc itself. I was billed by Sony for a dlc I DON'T HAVE. Remedy can't do anything about that.

@1_POed_Gamer Well it’s not a ‘downloading and storage issue’ since you purchase the license to the DLC, not a one time use. I don’t know what you want us to do about it, you’ve clearly made a bizarre reactionary account to rant and last time I checked, this wasn’t a forum run by Sony.

@Genrou Am I trolling for posting a technical issue I have had with the seemingly deluded hope of receiving useful advice? Or are you maybe trolling for posting on a topic in which you have nothing of relevance to add?

I think my reaction is entirely understandable, given the fact that I just got ripped out of $20. The reason I posted in the first place was because I had reserved some level of hope that there might be someone, somewhere who had experienced something similar who would be able to afford me useful advice. Crazy, I know. How ridiculous of me. Judging by the responses here, I was clearly expecting too much.

I do wonder if any of you would be half as reasonable as me if you paid good money for a bloody dlc that is rendered utterly inaccessible by an unlikely technical glitch, with no one to reach given the situation happening in the world at the moment.

@1_POed_Gamer You said it was a storage issue how is that Sony's fault. It has to do with your hard drive I try deleting and maybe redownloading it. Maybe you need to make more room on your hard drive.

And yes If I had a problem like you I would just wait till the Sony offices are open and contact them then. I know it sucks but that's how it is now. Going onto a fan site and going on an anti Sony rant isn't going to solve your problem. Instead of blaming Sony checknto make sure it's not your system and if you did check everything just wait it out.

There you go.

But that's exactly what I'm saying that you're not hearing. It isn't possible to delete the dlc because of the manner in which the PS4 storage system is structured. The only way to delete dlc on the PS4 is to delete the base game. Which is exactly what I have attempted, as my opening post points out. But no dice.

My hard drive has plenty of room (in fact, I have an external hd to address that exact thing). I have already attempted to reinstall twice, just out of incredulous disbelief that this problem I am experiencing is even possible. But reinstalling the game also reinstalls the broken dlc. This is the source of my frustration. If it were merely some glitch in the dlc or something on that level, I wouldn't be writing annoyed posts.

It's not an in-game glitch that is causing this (as there doesn't seem to be anyone else on earth who is experiencing this with the dlc). With that possibility eliminated, I can only attribute the problem to one of two things: Either its a manufacturing defect in how the PS4 system is set up to handle memory, or it's a problem with the oft-criticized Playstation Network. Either way, the blame is squarely on Sony.

It's nothing personal. I guess all I can do as like you say, wait it out. I'm just frustrated because a dlc I have been waiting to get my hands on for months and have invested money into is borked in such a seemingly impossible and obscene manner.

Hey dude - did you by chance buy the "season pass"? Because that doesn't download the dlc, it just changes the price of the dlc to "free".

Go look for the "expansion pack 1 foundation" from the game page, and see if you can download that. I'd bet money that's what happened.

I’m currently having the exact same issue. Purchased the Foundation yet it didn’t download and says installed and unable to access it from the mission menu. Contacted Sony they told me to contact remedy after restoring licenses deleting and reinstalling the game and deactivating and reactivating as primary PS4. Nothing seems to fix the problem and there’s no way to re-download the add-on it’s just stuck saying installed yet there’s no record of it ever installing or downloading in the notifications menu.

@1_POed_Gamer Dude your not the only one trust me, and your not alone. I had beaten Control last year and kinda put the game on the back-burner for a while. Well about a week and a half ago I decided to purchase the dlc bundle pack that came with "The Foundation" and "AWE" content for like $24.99. Once I made the purchase I got a notification that an "Update" version of the game was being installed. There was no mention of the dlc that I purchased. After-the-fact I did a bit of research, and I found out the update was a standard free update to the main Control game itself. The update in itself I feel was botched because upon entering into the game I didn't see any mission or announcement of the dlc being in the game, and on top of that my character was bugged out and struggled badly to even sprint. Jesse would shudder and struggle badly to sprint (still to this day). Trying to find how to startup the dlc content I thought "maybe I need to clear out some old side missions that I hadn't done to kick-start the dlc mission." That didn't work either, I tried scouring the internet and didn't find anything on anyone else having this kind of unique issue, except the few I found here. I just contacted Sony's chat support and the rep sent me instructions on the whole license troubleshoot issue, but it sounds like you've already done that to no avail. I don't know who is responsible for this (Remedy or Sony) but either way I feel like this is some form of theft or like I'm being conned. I paid money for a product I didn't receive and as a dedicated gamer that's not fair. My PSN name is R-o-b-y-n-n message me if you want to vent, I too am pissed about the situation.
