Author Profile

Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he's found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.

Video games have always been my main passion, and I enjoyed writing growing up so it made sense to combine the two! I love a good story in games as well as a neat, inviting hub area.

Experience

Liam began his career as a freelancer, before joining Push Square as Senior Staff Writer in 2019. Some time around 2022 he became Assistant Editor on the site.

His work takes in all kinds of coverage but sees him focusing mainly on news, reviews and guides for the site.

I enjoy creating guide campaigns the most, because I like gathering together all relevant / potential information to achieve a sense of “completionism”. By documenting this, I help other people find the items they’re looking for, or beat a difficult section of a game.

Timeline

  • 2016: Begins his career as a freelance writer
  • 2019: Joins Push Square as Senior Staff Writer
  • 2022: Becomes Assistant Editor of Push Square

Qualifications & Awards

  • University Degree in Journalism - Sheffield Hallam University (2016)

Expertise

Liam’s first console was a PlayStation 1. From there he’s owned every console released by Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.

His favourite console of all time is the PlayStation 4, thanks to a packed roster of games that fulfils his tastes - think story-focused, action-adventure games/RPGs. Having grown up with PlayStation, it’s the console series he’s spent the most time playing by far.

I love action-adventure games/RPGs. I like engaging with a deep and interesting story while exploring an interesting world full of unique gameplay sequences and interactions.

  • News Is Gone Home Stuck at the Top of Your PS5 Profile, Too?

    Go home, please

Here's a bit of a strange bug both this scribe and Push Square editor Sammy Barker have encountered: Gone Home is stuck at the top of our PlayStation 5 profiles for seemingly no real reason. The walking simulator from 2016 hasn't been played by either one of us since its PlayStation 4 launch and we haven't tested it via backwards...

  • Review Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (PS5) - A Very Safe Entry for the New Generation

    Out of the Woods

It was always going to be tough for Treyarch to follow up on both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone. The twosome has created a powerhouse for the past 12 months, providing the franchise's devout fanbase with some of the best and most consistent content drops ever seen. But such is the Activision statement that...

  • Review Watch Dogs Legion (PS5) - Bland Open-Worlder at Least Looks and Runs Better

    Rude Brittania

Technically speaking, at least, Watch Dogs Legion is an objectively better game on PlayStation 5 than PlayStation 4. It runs better, it looks better, and it loads much faster. That all does wonders for creating a much smoother experience on Sony's latest console, making sure you spend a lot more of your precious time in the thick of...

Now that the rest of the Push Square crew has finally gotten some hands on time with the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller, we can all very confidently say that it's a genuine game-changer. However, a significant amount of them are inserting the discs in the wrong way...

  • News PS5 Makes It So Much Easier to Appear Offline and Busy

    No more bothering

The PlayStation 4's approach to appearing offline wasn't exactly intuitive, because to select the status, you would have to actually log in to your profile and quickly switch the setting. Thus, you would actually appear online for a couple of seconds. However, on PlayStation 5, you can select your status from the moment you hit the...

  • News The Game Awards Nominations Mark an Incredible Final Year for PS4
