PS Plus Essential Games for January 2024 Announced

Fine month.
I already own A Plague Tale : Requiem, and it's really good.
I was interested in trying Evil West and Nobody Saves The World, so pretty good all in all.

Cracking games for once.

A Plague Tale Requiem is such a good game.

Others are saying Fallout 76, Axiom Verge 2 & Star Wars: Fallen Order

All 3 games are bangers!

I have played Plague Tale: Requiem before and own Nobody Saves the World on Steam, but I am super excited to play Evil West and glad I did not purchase it.

Great month here! Evil West and Plague, both games I had interest in but slept on.

Surprisingly good selection. I platted Requiem, but the other 2 were games i always someday wanted to try

Good Month for Essential:

1. Nobody Saves the World is really a lot of fun, especially if you like dungeon crawlers.

2.Evil West is the epitome of a 6/10 game to me, but there is a few hours of vampire killing fun to be had in here. Now that it is on Plus, treating myself to the game for my birthday earlier this year was clearly a mistake. 😃

3.Haven’t played the second Plague Tale, but the first was good. So Req will be worth checking out.

Great month. Nobody Saves the World is a brilliant game. I was hooked on it when it was on Game Pass.

I've been debating whether to get Evil West for a while, glad I can check it out.

@Ultrasmiles Nope, at least Fallen order is not. I bouth it yesterday for 7 eur since it is on a discount.

A Plague Tale: Requiem makes it a good month, I'm surprised it's going to PS Essential so soon after being out for just a year.

I wanted A Plague Tale: Requiem since they announced it, I love this and the first part too. I only played the trial and I was hoping it will go to extra some day, but this is even better. I'm finally happy with PS subscription
Evil west was very enjoyable too, I played the trial, so this month is really good for me.

This is a great month. I will absolutely be diving headfirst into A Plague Tale: Requiem.

@Darude84 If you call this a terrible month, then I don't even know what to say anymore. Objectively, it's at worst a solid month, but realistically much better than that. I'd call this a stellar selection, to be honest.

Evil West is really fun, a PS3/360 era throwback in a good way. I got rid of it when I finished it while value was high so would try it again.

Plague tale is superb. I own that and would recommend it to anyone especially in the performance mode they added

Been playing since the late 80's, owned pretty much every Nintendo console and every PlayStation and a few Sega's and Xbox's in between but genuinely never heard of these 3.
I didn't say they were bad games, just never heard of them before

Looks like a pretty good month to me.

Good: My decision to hold off on Plague Tale and Evil West paid off. Had both in my wishlist for months but was waiting for an amazing sale or... this!

Bad (just specifically for me): Just bought NStW on sale this month. This is after December Extra/Premium games added Tinykin to the list, which I also bought at the same time as NStW.

Oh well, pretty happy overall.

I already tried APT on GP and found it to be a bit boring (I guess concept ran out of steam in part 1 for me). But Evil West I tried and had way more fun than expected. Nobody saves the World I played through Switch trial and wishlisted the full game immediately. So a good month for me 😊

Just putting on A Plagues Tale make it an excellent month!Loved both games and highly recommend.
Funnily enough I just played the Trial for Evil West and it seemed interesting.Don't know anything about the other game though but a good month.

@Darude84 you are aware these are the titles for essential the lowest tier and not extra? Demons souls and returnal have never been on essential..this is a solid month.

@Darude84 Demon’s Souls, Returnal and Forbidden West have all been added to the Extra level of the subscription service, not the three games that come with Essential. A few months ago we got Weird West as one of the three games. Evil West is a different game.

@Darude84 No we didn't. You are getting the Essential and Extra tiers mixed up now. If you're going to throw such harsh criticism around, at least get your facts straight. I see you also got Weird West and Evil West mixed up.

@nyXhc420 yh that could work but on occasions I just like to keep some games physically. Sometimes though they get massively reduced after they've just been announced for PS Plus subscriptions, lowering their physical value. If don't feel like keeping some physical games, then I just trade them in store towards the next game

Are you kidding me? I just bought Evil West full price yesterday. Story of my life! It’s still a great game so I don’t mind spending my money to support the devs.

2 games on my list to get. So glad not buying abundance of games anymore... only triple aaa games now but months or years after launch. Its proving right decision

I might be excited if i had a PS5, which reminds me i will have to add it on the web, like last month. (which i haven't done yet.)

Played two of the three on GamePass and actually bought Evil West (which is okay but not great). But the other two are well worth checking out!

Already completed Plague Tale R on GamePass a while ago but this and the original (Innocence) are both highly recommended!

First time ever I’m interested and have an inclination to play all three of these. Fantastic month for me.

I’ve been watching APT Requiem on my wishlist for a while now and it rarely ever goes on sale, and even when it does it’s just a small discount. So I’m totally stoked about this. The other two games are actually curiosities for me too, so it’s a win all around!

Might give nobody saves the world a go, looks fun. Not into stealth games though, and the Evil West game just looks generic and worse than a dozen other games in my backlog, so will skip that.

Platinumed Evil West long time ago, it’s a great game, but missing an adequate coop.
Finished Requiem, but never enjoyed its grim atmosphere and generic boring gameplay.

Hmmm, this is really making me consider renewing my subscription.

Plague Tale Requiem would easily be the main highlight for me if it didn't turn out exclusive to current gen consoles (one of which still has but a glorified streaming app bearing the name), but Evil West is peculiar as well and the charming NSTW, despite being a legit Switch title, may yet again land on my PS4 even earlier as the smallest filesize to install for a PS Stars reward. A quality lineup overall.

God Evil West sucked so hard.

Yes, have been wanting to play Plague Tale 2. That'll be my first new game 2024.

Oh hell yeah, first all round good month in, like, a year.

Evil west is terrible. I played the trial.couldnt even get through it just repetition and mindless button bashing. The graphics weren't even that good. Ps3 gameplay with slight graphical.edge.

A rare month where I will gladly claim all 3 games (I only claim it if I think I will actually play it).

I'm glad I waited on Requiem. I know it's been "free" on Game Pass this whole time, but I waited and played Innocence until the PS5 version came out and was glad I did. The DualSense features were great on that game, and I fully expect to feel the same about the sequel.

@Kyushutrail Yes, because it's also a great game. While it's not absolutely necessary to enjoy Requiem, you would definitely get more out of it if you play Innocence first.

I was thinking of Weird West, which I didn't love and is currently on PS+ Extra. I'm actually excited to try Evil West.

@LordAinsley yeah. I couldn't do it at 30fps. It's way better at 60fps

@Kyushutrail you could watch a YouTube catch up but I'd recommend playing innocence as it's superb and worth playing them both

Great selection, loved the 1st Plague game so looking forward to getting the plat on this one. Evil West is a superb PS3 style game, great weighty combat, some comments saying it is button bashing have clearly not played it for long as there is no way you complete this game button mashing. Late game has some good mechanics switching between weapons is a must!

Funny, I've been playing since the 1980s, too.
But still ... you must've heard of the Plague Tales games, at least? I haven't played any of the three games either - so I dont know if they're good or bad - but Plague Tale (and Evil West) are fairly well known.

I honestly haven't lol, I guess their just not my type of games so not something I've looked into or kept an eye out for.

I wasn't being negative, in fact if you look back at my posts for December's PS Plus Essential and Extra games I was extremely complimentary over them. (I'm not expecting you to actually go back and look by the way, just saying.... if you did, you'd see).

But in answer to your question. No, this is the first time any of these 3 games have ever been brought to my attention so prior to yesterday's reveal I'd never heard of any of them

Wow, glad I don't have a subscription anymore...been ages since anything I'd have interest enough to have a sub has been put on essential. Nobody Saves The World is something I'd like, but not enough for an entire sub when I could get the game for around $10 on-sale.

@rusty82 I quite enjoyed evil west. Mindlessly simple and brutal. Gears of war meets from dusk till dawn. What's not to like?

This is the best month in quite a while, i finally joined the current generation on crimbo day with a shiny new PS5, currently loving Astro's Playroom, i nearly bought Evil West to go with it, glad i didn't now

@Northern_munkey Thanks, i already do haha My PS4 had a faulty disc drive that constantly spat the discs out making it impossible to play so i've got a big backlog of exclusives from that era to play through even without the native PS5 games, Miles Morales is next on my list to play.
