You may be forgiven for thinking Polyphony Digital’s full attention would be focused on the upcoming Gran Turismo 7, which will release next year on both the PlayStation 5 and PS4. However, the studio has taken a moment to refresh its existing PS4 simulation racer, with GT Sport adding the Toyota GR 86 as part of a free update.
It’s all part of the game’s v1.66 patch, which is available today. Alright, so it’s just the one car in the end, but it’s a good looking one. Is this enough to steer your attention back to the uber-popular racer?

It’s a snazzy car to be fair. I would appreciate an update on GT7 though, I know Polyphony are always late but it’ll end up being mid-gen at this rate.
I bought a Toyota Corolla GR 2 litre last week, collecting it in September so this will tide me over until I can do it for real!
Does it make sense to buy the game in a discount only for Singleplayer career mode and for me as the „more arcade than racing sim“ player?
@Reeneman That's what I did. It was cheap enough that I wasn't really losing anything.
@TheIdleCritic Do you have fun with the game?
@Reeneman My honest answer: Yes. But you might not. The caveat is that I've always been a fan of GT's aesthetics; I love the menus and the jazz and the minimalist UX.
In terms of a campaign - there isn't much there. Perhaps GRID would be better for you. I think it's quite cheap now. Single player for both games are shallow, but with GRID you'll get a more arcady experience.
@Reeneman I'd say it is. I've spend hundreds of hours in GT Sport and haven't touch the online portions even once.
Hummmmmmmmm... Nan
@nessisonett at least they announced it , now we just have to wait for the 3-4 delays then release
@crazykcarter They look sweet, I was considering one but the bucket seats and look of the Corolla is just boss. So comfy. Interior is like someone designed a car for me. Loads of front space and hardly any for my Xbox playing kids. Minimal but classy. Win win. I've gone for obsidian blue rather than the bi tone and can't wait to see it! Currently in an 11 plate Yaris after my work car scheme became stupid expensive, it's embarrassing but knowing I can run it into the ground for 2 months is awesome. Haven't been this excited since Sonic Mania was announced.
Nope, I'm done with GT Sport which is sad because I loved GT2 & 3 and raced away for hours. GTS can't keep my attention for more than 5mins & Forza 7 can.
