Guilty Gear Strive has sold over 500,000 copies since its launch on the 11th June, Arc System Works has confirmed. Last we heard, the superb fighting game had hit 300,000 sales in less than a week of its release, so that's an additional 200,000 or so units within the space of a month. Not bad at all.
The developer posted the above illustration on social media to celebrate — and we love it. Ky's using a fight stick with a noticeable degree of elegance, which Sol looks close to crushing his controller. Hopefully Strive continues to rack up sales — just so that we get to see more artwork like this!
Oh, and Strive's first DLC character will be revealed next week, on the 20th July. The announcement will be livestreamed on Arc System Works' YouTube channel at 6PM PST / 9PM EST / 2AM BST / 3AM CEST / 10AM JST (technically on the 21st July here in Europe and in Japan). If you won't be able to catch the reveal live, don't worry — we'll have all the news here on Push Square.

It might not be Mortal Kombat numbers but it's great to see! Interestingly, a lot of it (maybe even most?) seems to be on PC.
I've been playing it a lot this week. Still need to check out that Story Mode - I hear it's pretty ridiculous
They said that the Season Pass will be on sale. It's currently £24.99 on PS Store. Is that a discounted price or regular?
Love the game. Haven't been able to put it down.
Those are some great numbers!
@bowzoid Pretty sure that's the regular price. They said that? Welp, I just got the SP yesterday

Just got the myself and I'm really loving it! Looking for an alt for Nago atm....
Well deserved! One of THE best brawlers ever imho
Nice.
I'm not big in to fighting games, but I watch the live fights on the PlayStation youtube channel all the time.
I want to get GG Strive on my next payday though. It looks like a lot of fun. And that art style is fantastic.
Is there any weight to the rumour from a few weeks back that Sony are trying to buy Arc System Works?
@Shepherd_Tallon I doubt that. Sure, some of their games are PS console exclusives but it doesn't seem like that kind of relationship - wouldn't be a Sony style acquisition.
@Voltan I had the exact same thought to be honest. It caught my attention though because of the EVO venture. Only for that I'd have dismissed it outright.
Hi there fellow gamers.
That´s some really good numbers for a Guilty Gear game. I´m very glad so many people are enjoying a fighting game franchise, that not a lot of people knew about and that I have enjoyed since the first iteration.
Also, I like that picture a lot. When I envision myself playing against someone really good, that´s the picture I see.
Myself looking like Sol, getting super into it fighting against someone chillin like Ky 😜
Cheers, stay safe folks and happy gaming to us all
@Voltan Hi there friend.
Oh yeah, it´s pretty bonkers alright.
But it is also pure anime. Since I love anime, it´s not a problem.
It is certainly not for everyone, but I enjoyed it very much.
Not only moved the story forward, it also made some really cool reveals. And Happy Chaos is completely nuts 😜
Cheers, stay safe and have a good one
God this game has been visually pleasing and fun to play. Currently maining Ram and hoping Jack O is in the Season Pass that the data miners uncovered
Amazing numbers. Software in every genre is just booming rignt now.
Well deserved. New to the series (I bought Revelator on sale and bounced off almost immediately), and I gotta say it’s the most fun I’ve had playing a fighting game since the Capcom arcade heyday (SF Alpha 2, Third Strike, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, etc.). The mechanics are so elegant and the learning curve is really good - I’m a very poor execution player but I’ve managed to get on the 9th floor (our of 10?) in ranked learning the game’s fundamentals and characters. Combos feel very natural - once you know your character you can feel your way through them rather than rely on rote memorization.
I haven't bought Strive yet but I've been playing Xrd 2 every once in a while. Having a lot of fun in that game.
