There's been a buzz surrounding Godfall since it was revealed last year. It is, after all, the first confirmed PlayStation 5 title that we've seen. A leaked trailer has only added to the hype, showing off some cool looking hack and slash action -- but now the developer has warned against paying too much attention to the aforementioned video.
"We can confirm that the circulating trailer is year-old PC footage used as part of an internal presentation," writes the official Godfall Twitter account. "We are energized by your excitement and look forward to showing you just how far this game has come. Stay tuned for a more detailed look soon!"
We don't know when "soon" is, but it's reasonably safe to assume that Godfall will play a part in Sony's PlayStation 5 reveal event, which is heavily rumoured to be taking place in February.

Downgrade incoming....😜
It clearly wasn't footage from anywhere near the finished product, it was funny reading so many comments from those who somehow believed that's what it will look like at launch
Oh fantastic, I wondered when they would add puddles to this game 😛
Honestly, it looked pretty good for a WIP so it’s exciting to see how much has changed in a year.
@teknium_ I was thinking the same thing. 😆
@clvr ah snap! Puddlegate is back!
imagine if it loomed that good then imagine how it looks in nov
I thought it looked good. Admittedly I’m not a graphics junkie though and probably don’t have the eye for detail that others have.
I think with diminishing returns in tech we are not going to see such a big leap between generations. One day we will reach the pinnacle of graphics and then we will mainly improve on the physics.
@Kienda
You just hit the nail on the head right there! All that will be left is improving physics, load speeds, and storage.
I just got email from sony about godfall trailer, I thought it's a new trailer, but it's the old tgs award trailer 😕
@JoeBlogs
Yes but.... Do you think game developers would be willing to Shell out the money to make games look the equivalent of the cgi your talking about. Triple a games are already expensive to make, could they price a video game accordingly with the use of that kind of technology?? I'm no expert BTW, just picking your brain!
If this means we are set for a graphical upgrade (which should be the case) then I am hyped.
If this means a downgrade my lord will this be some average technical leap.
@Kienda I remember thinking that after watching the intro to FF8. I thought, it just can't get better than this, surely!? Man was I an idiot at that age.
I thought it looked terrible actually, can't see it getting worse.
Underwhelming
@kjkg haha. I remember thinking that also. However, we will get to that point where graphics don’t get much better but the amount on screen increases, the number of moving objects within a storm, the interaction with objects etc improves more each generation rather than the noticeable difference in the graphics.
There will obviously always be improvements to graphics but there is only a certain point where they can reach before persuit or graphics is trumped by physics.
We don’t have games where clothes absorb water and that water drips out of the clothes in a natural way, where every drop is programmed and seeps out leaving puddles and wet footprints on the floor and where that water that is left on the floor gradually fades or is able to be slipped on or used in some way.
We don’t have game where every leaf and plant and stone can be moved and kicked. Where the character can wipe dust off a table and that dust is transferred to their hand to the point where every particle is accounted for. Etc.
I’m not sure we will ever get to that point. But what I’m saying is there is a long way to go with physics.
