The former head of Sony's Worldwide Studios left the company rather abruptly in late September, without a reason given. While there wasn't much of a suggestion of ill will between the two parties, it's nice to know that Shawn Layden's departure hasn't left behind any bad blood.
The man himself has been active on Twitter for the past couple of hours, wishing his former colleagues all the very best in their new roles. Guerrilla Games' Hermen Hulst is now head of PlayStation's Worldwide Studios while Shuhei Yoshida has shifted positions into a role which will see him "look after and nurture external, smaller independent studios".

has there been any indication/reason why shawn layden left?. he may have stepped down for personal reasons that he doesn't want to disclose, which he has every right to do.
It's always nice to see nice people say nice things to one another, so that's neat, but why the suspicious angle?
Look, I know we're all Sony and PlayStation enthusiasts and so we're interested in the various comings and goings, but why does there always have to be a story? Can't a person just decide to leave their job, and not account for why?
Fandom abhors a vacuum, I suppose.
If you don't think he has any bad blood with Jim Ryan then I have a bridge to sell you.
@RogerRoger
Layden liked a few tweets and the press made up cool stories about it. Its always the same interest for interesting stories. Now you already can see people spinning Shu new role as another power struggle or forced 'westernisition' cool story.
The trutch will come out at some stage
I like Shawn. He gets bonus points for resembling a guinea pig.
@JJ2 Speculative journalism is a pretty fine art. When done well, with meticulous research and well-founded ideas, it can be thought-provoking and insightful. When done badly, it represents everything wrong with drama-based internet culture.
Alas, it's far more often the latter nowadays.
For the record, I'm not talking about PushSquare here. This place is way more balanced than most.
@RogerRoger
'Remember Garfield : everything you read on the internet is true...'
Seriously though. These s a big problem with journalists circle referencing one another opinion and even they think its factual news.
