At long last, Media Molecule has confirmed dates for its highly anticipated beta test for the upcoming PS4 exclusive, Dreams. This astonishing game lets players make more or less anything they want using a powerful set of user friendly tools. We can't wait to see what everyone will cook up during the beta -- it's going to be fascinating. What is the Dreams Creator Beta?
As we mentioned above, the Dreams Creator Beta is a semi-open beta test that allows participants to go nuts with the creation tools, making anything from music to full game levels. It's a way for fans to get their hands on an early version of the game ahead of launch, but it's also being used to provide Media Molecule with invaluable information it can use to make further improvements.
When does the Dreams Creator Beta start?
The Dreams beta started for some players on Wednesday 19th December 2018. Those who subscribed to Media Molecule's newsletter before 7th December were sent a code to gain access to the beta from that date.
For everyone else, the developer will open sign-ups on 4th January 2019. Those who are accepted will be able to access the beta from 8th January 2019.
When does the Dreams Creator Beta end?
The end date for all Dreams Creator Beta participants is 21st January 2019. This means that, even if you can only join in from the 8th January, you still have a good couple of weeks worth of play time.
How do you sign up for the Dreams Creator Beta?
Media Molecule has finally shared links for sign ups to the Dreams beta, meaning you can register right now. If you're in Europe, click here and enter your PSN ID. If you're in North America, click here and fill in the form. Sony will email you a code if you're successful.
Can you subscribe to the newsletter now for early access to the Dreams Creator Beta?
You're more than welcome to subscribe to Media Molecule's newsletter, and we're sure it'd be grateful for your support, but signing up now won't get you a beta code. Only those who had subscribed prior to 7th December 2018 are eligible for the early period of the beta.
Do you have to be a certain age to play the Dreams Creator Beta?
Yes. Media Molecule specifies that you must be 18 or over to participate in the Dreams beta.
In which countries will the Dreams Creator Beta be available?
The Dreams Creator Beta will only be available in certain parts of the world:
- Middle East
- United States
It's also worth noting that the beta only supports English.
What is included in the Dreams Creator Beta?
You'll have access to almost the entire set of creative tools, so you'll be able to make practically whatever you like. There will also be a selection of tutorials to get you up to speed. In addition, some social features and a few mini games made by Media Molecule will be available to toy with, if you want a break from building your masterpiece.
What isn't included in the Dreams Creator Beta?
None of the story mode content will be available in the beta. Some of the final game's social features won't be present, and you won't be able to fully customise your Imp. Unsurprisingly, you also won't be unlocking any trophies.
Is PSVR support enabled in the Dreams Creator Beta?
Unfortunately, you won't be able to use your PlayStation VR headset with the Dreams beta. However, Media Molecule has said previously that the full game will support PSVR from the start.
Will your progress and creations carry over to the full game?
Media Molecule has confirmed that anything you create will be available in the final game. However, any player progress made won't carry over.
How big is the download for the Dreams Creator Beta?
The Dreams Creator Beta won't take up too much space on your PS4 hard drive. Media Molecule says it'll be roughly 4GB in size.
Do you need PS Plus in order to use the Dreams Creator Beta?
Despite the online nature of the game, you won't need to be subscribed to PlayStation Plus to take part in the beta test.
