In an announcement that's seemingly come out of nowhere, Koei Tecmo has revealed Warriors Orochi 4, and it's due to launch later this year in Japan. The announcement's arrived not too long after the release of the massively disappointing Dynasty Warriors 9, so this could be the publisher's chance to atone for such a misfire.
For those who don't know, the Warriors Orochi series combines both Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors characters, creating games that are essentially big crossover hack and slash parties. Other Koei Tecmo characters also tend to make the cut, with the likes of Ryu Hayabusa and Kasumi appearing in previous instalments.
Oh, and this new one's titled Warriors Orochi 3 in Japan, not 4. That's because the second game in the series didn't have a number in Japan, whereas over here, it was named Warriors Orochi 2. Yeah, it's a bit confusing.
Of course, the question now is whether it'll be any good. The publisher's last crossover title was the almost offensively average Warriors All-Stars, and with the recent failure of Dynasty Warriors 9 piled on top of that mess, you can't blame us for being sceptical. At this point, we just really hope that it isn't open world.
What's your take on this? Is it time to make up for Dynasty Warriors 9? Do you have high hopes for Warriors Orochi 4? Avoid snakes in the comments section below.

Please don't **** it up. Please don't **** it up. Please don't **** it up.
@ShogunRok ditto.
I really liked 3 on ps4. Hope they can get some fun cross over characters as well as all samurai and dynasty characters, maybe even third party characters.
I really enjoyed FE Warriors but it didn't exactly focus on more than a couple of games. Hyrule Warriors was also fantastic so hopefully Orochi 4 can hit that same level of quality and depth.
I only played the very first game on PS2 loved it but after the disaster of 9 I doubt this would be any different. Because Jim Sterling pointed out the asset flips and how poorly designed it was and he's a massive DW fan massive. I can see this been exactly the same full price game rushed out with tons of shortcut DLC
@YummyHappyPills
i really enjoyed it far better than dynasty warriors 9, (which wouldn't be hard) and better than the last few warriors/samurai/ otochi games and attack titan two is quite good, just seems to be the main warriors/samurai games that aren't up to much
TBH, I kinda liked Warrior All Stars. I mean, at least the game bothered to give us three seperate storylines, not unlike Accel World vs SAO where the story was basically 60% SAO and 40% Accel World.
Though, I am indeed skeptical as well. Just as long it doesn't go open world and doesn't replace every iconicly unique weapons with generic swords, kinves, spears, fans and BALLS WITH CHAINS, I think the game will do pretty well. Oh, and please no english voice action. The voice action in DW9 was almost as offensive as Hidden Dragon Legend's voice acting, and I just ened up choosing the japanese/chinese voice acting since it sounded more natural.

@YummyHappyPills I always hear people complain about FEW only representing 3 of the FE games.
Hyrule warriors did excactly the same before dlc. It only had stuff from ocarina of time, skywards sword and twilight princess. Nobody complained back then.
