Deadly Premonition director Hidetaka ‘SWERY’ Suehiro’s barmy “debt repayment daily life role-playing game” The Good Life has hopped from crowd-funding platform Fig to the more recognisable Kickstarter, where it’s coveting a much smaller target of $650,000 in order to get made for the PlayStation 4 and PC. Sony Music’s new Unties label is helping to fund the title, which will see you assume the role of a photographer in a quaint English papier-mâché town.

The title essentially sees you photographing daily life in order to pay off your debts, while also uploading pictures to a fictional Instagram in order to earn a little extra coin on the side. There’s a murder mystery element to the storyline, which will see you become one of the suspects, thus forcing you to remain in the village as you attempt to prove your innocence. You’ll also periodically play as a cat or a dog, which may just be the icing on the cake.

Development appears to be a gigantic collaborative effort, with SWERY’s White Owls working alongside Panzer Dragoon creator Yukio Futatsugi’s G-Rounding. Should the title get funded, it’s targeting a late 2019 release. There are various funding reward tiers for you to peruse on Kickstarter, but the most popular tier is likely to be the digital copy for PS4, which also bundles in some digital extras for $40.
