There’s a new Jumanji movie coming out. Apparently. Like practically every film these days, it’s got The Rock in it. But it’s being produced by Sony Pictures, and we couldn’t help but notice a spot of product placement in the latest trailer. How many 20-somethings do you know with The Last Guardian posters on their wall? (Hint: this author fits that bracket.)
The flick’s no longer about a board game but on old video game instead, so we’re surprised Sony didn’t actually plop a PSone or something in there as well. Incidentally, there was a Jumanji game for the PlayStation 2 which was a cheap Mario Party rip-off. We’d pay a high price for a used copy if it could guarantee us a week in the jungle with Karen Gillan in that costume.

Sony loves their product placement, the PS4 supercomputer in Chappie was my favourite. Interesting that there's a Wii in the bookcase to the right though Looks like to me anyway?

So it has the Rock, a possibly stereotypical black person (I'm not racist but these stereotypes are kinda annoying me), a hot blonde woman whose purpose is being hot, and probably a comedy relief fat person. Welp! We're in a bomb. Seriously, Sony Pictures is the bane of existance for Sony. They are giving Sony a worse rap thanks to Ghostbusters, Pixels, Smurfs, crappy remakes, and soon the god awful Emojie movie.
And you know, this reminds me of something...whatever happened to that rumored Gamer tv show trademarked by Sony or something?

As much as I love Jack Black, this is going to bomb hugely. Sony's movie department is notoriously awful - more recently with films like the Ghostbusters reboot, Pixels, and the Angry Birds Movie. The fact that they're making the Emoji Movie says it all really.
@Anchorsam_9 Spider-Man's going to be huge so they probably don't care about all of the inevitable bombs at the moment.
@get2sammyb That's true. Sony Pictures is pretty much one of the worst examples of the trends going on in Hollywood - almost every film they make is a sequel, reboot, sequel reboot, prequel, soft reboot, seaboot, or soft preboot.

@kyleforrester87 I wonder if he'd be able to, honestly? It seems he's the actor that you want when you're making a goofy buddy comedy, a Summer action movie, or some kind of family movie. I wonder if he'd be able to do something a bit more cerebral?

@PorllM Back in the early days of PS4, Sony talked a lot about how they wanted Wii owners on the PS4. It seems they have succeeded to some end.
@Constable_What Yeah I don't see anyway out for him, especially if he keeps doing nonsense like this and Baywatch. Something like what Hugh Jackman did in Prisoners would be nice lol.
@THRILLHOU Shoot, my mistake. Still, I hate it when Sony decides to remake a movie that needs no re-imagining (or hell, even a reboot). Why can Hollywood remake the bad movies that had some good ideas (Dead Head Fred, Water world, Gamer, Jumper, Human Centipede) instead of remaking great movies that needs no fixes (Jumanji, Labyrinth, Ghostbusters, Clash of Titans).
@kyleforrester87 I have never heard of that movie until now, but after looking at some trailers and things for it I can't believe I haven't.

What's wrong with them putting the posters in seen as its a Sony movie and the Jumanji game is now a video game and not a book.
I was gonna ask why there are always previews for the trailers you're going to watch now in the first 5 seconds, but I think I actually know. Its because they're designed to run on Youtube and they want to grab people's attention before the 5 second timer that lets them skip the ad finishes, isn't it?
The Rock has the potential to be a decent actor but every film he's been in is c***, though I doubt he cares when he looks at his bank balance

Regardless the trailer is dog sh*t and it appears they're trying to appeal to stupid kids that enjoyed night at the museum. Another terrible movie from Sony, it's pretty painful.
