At some point later this year, Diablo III will be getting a whole new playable character class in the form of the Necromancer. We don't have too much to go on when it comes to analysing this corpse-raising warrior, but at least Blizzard seems to enjoy drip feeding us new information. In an official blog post, the developer goes over its 'Meleemancer' build, which essentially sees the Necromancer go up close and personal with a range of melee techniques.
From ghostly, long-reaching scythes to a explosive blood novas, it sound like a fun style of play, and even though you're going to be right up in the faces of your foes, you can still fall back on good old necromancy if you wish. Blood golem summoning is on the agenda, and you can devour enemy corpses to refuel your resources.
Now, let's get into the broader state of things. Blizzard says that there's still no confirmed release date for the Necromancer, but the studio is currently targeting the latter half of 2017. What's more, the Necromancer won't be part of any expansion, but he/she will be featured in a 'content pack' that will also include an in-game pet, cosmetic wings, and two additional character slots. However, the developer isn't ready to put a price on this pack just yet.
It seems like we've still got a reasonably long wait before we can get our bloody hands on the Necromancer, then, but are you too bothered? Don't get too dark in the comments section below.

A brand new character class from around year 2000/2001 Diablo2 Wonder if they gonna charge us for reinventing the bicycle...
Eh...late 2017. Dunno. Seems a bit much at this point. Needs a new big expansion or a full sequel at this point.
As @kyleforrester87 said, a new big expansion would be a really welcome addition to get me engaged again. I will try out the new necromancer but am afraid it will quickly become monotonous. Which made me quit the game a short while after obtaining the plat trophy.
Did Diablo 3 have Local multiplayer or did I dream that?
@Xaessya it most certainly does, up to four.
@kyleforrester87
Now if I can convince my friends to join in then it should be an extremely fun time!
@Xaessya Mannnn late night D3 local co-op sessions are the best!
I concur! My wife and spent tons of hours wrecking demons hoping for a good drop to improve our sets. DPS FTW!!
I'm about 10hrs from the Platinum so the timing is perfect for me! Can't wait
I finished d1 and 2, loved them games, I've owned d3 for awhile and haven't been able to get into it. I think mostly because of how many great new releases there has been. I hope this can get me back into it. I haven't played very much of the game at all, maybe 2 hours in at the most and for some reason just couldn't get into it. Does it get better after u beat it and unlock multiplayer stuff?
@ellsworth004 Hmmm if you aren't into it by the end of chapter 1 you probably aren't going to like it. Having said that I hated it for the first couple of hours and went back to playing GTA5 for a while. Then picked up D3 again a few days later and couldn't put it down again lol.
Can't say I'd recommend playing online with ransoms though, from what I hear there are loads of cheaters. It's fun to play solo anyway.
I would love a huge expansion but will take what I can get. They need to at least add new trophies.
